Reader's POV

"Listen. Our deadline is until Norman kills all the Royal Family and Aristocrats.
Of course, we have to stop genocide of all the demons in the capital too, but... if the Royal Family and aristocrats are killed, the demons will lose their political structure,"
Ray said.

I was rushing down the stairs, putting my jacket back on.

"That would mean we would lose those we want to negotiate with,"
Ray continued.

"What do you mean?"
The kids asked.

"If that happens, our path to peace will be gone. We won't able to stop the war or the resulting conclusion."
Emma said.

Their jaws dropped.

I hurried again.
My head was spinning with thoughts and I wouldn't be able to contain all of it.
I would soon explode.

"The Tirafi offers the perfect opportunity for the Royal Family and aristocrats to gather.
Norman wouldn't miss that. He'll probably first act on annihilating the Royal Family and aristocrats."
Ray said, soon catching up to me.

"Y/n..."
He said softly, his eyes meeting mine.

I bit my bottom lip.
I was usually strong at hiding my emotions.
But it would all crash down soon.

I looked at him in the eyes, trying to show him I was okay.
I gave him a smile and his breath hitched slightly.

"No matter how late we are... we have to get there in time to persuade Norman to rethink about it, or..."
Ray said, turning away from me.

"How far is the Imperial Capital?"
Emma asked as she rushed towards us.

"Normally, it would take us five days."
Ray answered for me.

"What if we rush through the shortcut, disregarding the danger?"
Emma asked.

"Three days... with our legs, we can make it!"
Ray told her.

"Wait. It's the afternoon of Novemver 7th right now.
That's essentially two and a half days until the Tirafi."
Anna said softly, looking worried.

"You'll just miss making it in time,"
Lanni said, also worried.

"Plus, you'll arrive right in the middle of the war. That will be bad,"
Thoma added.

"And, Y/n, you just returned,"
Jemima said.

I took a deep breath.
Wait, where did Yvette go?
She was just... nevermind.

"Ray, Emma, you too. You two only arrived three hours ago,"
Nat said.

I grit my teeth.
"We can–"

"Y/n!! Emma! Ray!!"
I heard Yvette call out.

My eyes widened as I turned to her.

Horses...

Oh, and Oliver!
And Gillian, Nigel, and Zack.

"Get on!"
Oliver smiled.

Ack- with who?!

Ray got on with Zack, Emma with Gillian.
Ooo...

I ended up taking whoever's hand came at me that second, climbing on with him.

We started going off.

I clung to Nigel, or Oliver, a bit stunned by the speed we were going.

"I didn't know you guys could ride horses,"
I heard Emma say.

"You thought we were just sitting on our hands while you were working on the Seven Walls?"
Nigel asked with a chuckle.

He sounded a bit farther away.
I was with Oliver then.

"We're still not experts yet though,"
Gillian chimed in, looking at me with a bright smile.

"But why? I thought you guys, especially you, Gillian... were against saving the demons."
Emma said.

Gillian turned away from me and smiled softly.

"Yeah. I'll kill demons. All enemies that would hurt my friends.
But... I also want to help my friend who wants to help her friend,"
Gillian said softly, giving me a smile.

I smiled back, feeling more relaxed.

"T-Thank you, Gillian,"
I said softly.

She just smiled and nodded.

Oliver chuckled softly, and I knew he was smiling.

I smiled to myself, feeling way better than I did a while ago.

"Enough chatting. We're going full throttle!
The four of us and these four horses will take you to the Imperial Capital... to see Norman!"
Oliver said.
