"Ssshhh!!" I laughed while smacking Billy's shoulder.

His lips were pressed tightly together as he tried to silently make his way down the stairs.

"You are going to get us CAUGHT!" I whisper to him, my hand already flying out to catch the perfectly wrapped present that slipped out of his grasp.

"Shit, shit, shit." He mumbled while navigating the last few stairs.

Finally he made it all the way down and boastfully dropped the presents down onto the couch.

"See babe? Easy peasy." He says while theatrically dusting his hands.

"Mhm. Thats why I have this." I responded while holding up the missing package with a large grin.

"One out of all of them is pretty good."

"One smashing on the floor wakes up the whole house too."

He responded with a nonchalant shrug as he dug into the plate of chocolate chip cookies.

"Those are for Santa!" I gasp while snatching them out of his reach.

"They are for whoever puts the presents under the tree!"

"So me?" I ask while popping one in my mouth.

"And me too." He says while trying to sneakily grab something out of his back pocket.

"Whats that?" I instinctively ask. Curiosity getting the better of me as I cross the room to sit on the couch.

"Something for the momma." He replies cheekily. He takes the opportunity to one handedly grab my face for a peck as he passes by to grab another present to place down.

"Mommy?" I heard a tiny voice ask from up the stairs. Both Billy and I froze.

"Yes baby?" I answer. Before I could even rush up the stairs two tiny feet appeared on the last stair step.

Tight curly blonde ringlets sleepily walked into the living room.

"Wow! Look mommy! Presents!"

Feeling defeated, I slowly turned to face Billy.

"Hi Maxy!" He said with already open arms. The four year old immediately went running to him in excitement.

"Maxwell Hargrove why can't you ever stay out of trouble." I sighed while smoothing back his hair to kiss his forehead. Suddenly a second pair of footsteps was heard. Revealing another tiny pair of feet on the last step. From around the corner came Rowan.

A small teddy bear was clutched in her arms and you could see her face light up as she rounded the staircase.

"Wow!" She breathes as she stares at the shiny presents laid out for her.

"Why don't we just open them all right now? It already looks like Santa came right? Unless you were bad this year." Billy states as he shifts Max in his arms.

"Its only 1 am you guys!"

"Oh don't be a party pooper momma!" Billy laughs as he sets the toddler down. Both kids immediately run towards the tree.

"Merry Christmas baby." Billy says as he drapes his arm over my shoulder.

Falling into his side I reply with "Yeah, yeah. Merry Christmas."

Seeing my attempt at trying to keep up the charade of frustration he kisses my forehead.

"Admit it. This is better than waking up at 5 am."

I chuckled and lightly punched his chest.

"DAD LOOK!" Rowan shrieked. She had dropped to the floor in excitement as she wound up a plastic walking robot from Dustin. Both her and Maxwell shrieking in excitement as it began a slow walk across the living room.

"Yeah? How cool!" He responded.

They continued to clap and cheer as it waddled in a circle around them.

"I love you." Billy said as we smiled down at the kids ripping off more wrapping to reveal their gifts.

"Do you even know what that is?" I replied teasing him.

"I think I do." He responds as his eyes glance over at our kids and then back to me.

"Yeah?" I smile back at him. "Well then I guess I love you more."
