The Jewel of Odin's Treasure Room

----- October 5th, 2011 - In The Arctic -----

A truck drives through the dark and white landscape of the Arctic, as a man in a reddish jacket is seen waving in the distance through the heavy snowfall. The truck comes to a stop just in front of him. Two men exit the truck wearing black jackets.

"Are you the guys from Washington?" the red jacket asks. "You get many other visitors out here?" one of the others asked in turn, jokingly. "How long have you been on site?" his friend inquired of the red jacket. "Since this morning," they begin walking toward the reason they were called there, "A Russian oil team called it in about 18 hours ago." The others glance over at him as they walk, "How come nobody spotted it before?"

"It's really not that surprising," the red jacket says, walking a bit faster, "This landscape's changing all the time. You got any ideas what this thing is exactly?"

"I don't know. It's probably a weather balloon."

The red jacket shakes his head lightly, "I don't think so. You know we don't have the equipment for a job like this." One of the black jackets are holding his hood off of his eyes, "How long before we can start craning it out?"

"I don't think you quite understand," they reach their destination, revealing a massive frozen ship "You guys are gonna need one hell of a crane!"

A hole in the roof is cut open, as the metal drops down. The two black coats repel down one after another. "Base, we're in," one says into his comm. He looks around, shining a flashlight, "What is this?" They both walk in a bit further, when one of them nearly slips on the ice that covers the ground.

"Careful," the other urges.

They both walk deeper in, spotting a big mound of ice. One crouches down next to the ice as the other continues looking around. The one crouching wipes away some of the frost on the surface of the ice, revealing two symbols.

"Lieutenant," he calls for his Lieutenants attention, "What is it?"

The Lieutenant look over to the object of interest, "My God." He shakes his disbelief and speaks into his ear piece, "Base, give me a line to the Colonel."

"It's 3 a.m., sir," he hears back. "I don't care what time it is. these two have waited long enough."

----- March 1942 - Tonsberg, Norway -----

A man is seen running full speed into a Church. He pushes the door shut and proceeds to barricade it. "They have come for it!," he says to an older man walking down a staircase. The old man walks over to him, "They have before." The younger man finishes locking the door and looks over to him, "Not like this."

"Let them come. They will never find it."

The church begins to rumble, as a sound is heard just behind the walls. But then it stops for a second, until the entire doorway is ripped from the wall and tumbles downward on top of the younger man. The older man is on the ground as a car pulls up just behind the rubble.

A few HYDRA agents have entered the building and attempts to open a coffin that lies in the center of the room. Off to the side a HYDRA Lieutenant sees their struggle and yells, "Open it! Quickly, Before he.."

A man appears, standing on the wreckage that was once a door. The man walks in toward the old man, "It has taken me a long time to find this place. You should be commended." He looks at one of his soldiers, "Help him up." The soldier forcibly stands the old man up. "I think that you are man of great vision. And in this way we are much alike." The old man looks at him in distaste, "I am nothing like you."

"No, of course. But what others see as superstition, you and I know to be a science."

"What you seek is just a legend," the old man insists.

"Then why make such an effort to conceal it?"

The man walks over and opens an old tomb. He picks up a glass cube from the skeletal remains of an old Viking. He looks at the cube, "The Tesseract was the Jewel of Odin's treasure room." The man turns to face the old man, "It's not something one buries." He deliberately drops and smashes the glass cube, "But I think it is close, yes?"

"I cannot help you"

"No. But maybe you can help your village. You must have some friends out there. Some little grandchildren perhaps?" The big tank outside turns his guns towards the village threateningly, "I have no need for them to die."

The old man looks at the tank threatening his village and then behind the man in front of him. The other man turns to see a carving of a tree and proceeds to walk toward it, "Yggdrasil. Tree of the world. Guardian of wisdom and fate, also." He looks down seeing what looks like a snake with a suspiciously shaped eye. He presses into the eye and it opens up to reveal a box. He opens it as a blue glow emanates from the box, "And the Führer digs for trinkets in the desert." He looks up at the old man, "You have never seen this, have you?"

"It's not for the eyes of ordinary men."

"Exactly," he closes the box containing the glowing cube and turns to his soldiers, "Give the order to open fire." A few of the soldiers exit the building, "Yes!"

"Fool! You cannot control the power you hold. You will burn," says the old man.

The man turns back to the older man, "I already have." He pulls out a gun and shoots and kills the old man.
