CHAPTER FOURTEEN.
when it rains it pours

"LOLA, ITS TIME FOR YOU TO HEAD OUT! IF YOU LEAVE NOW, YOU'LL MAKE IT ON TIME!" Andre Young yelled at his sister from behind her locked door, the man contemplating breaking it down just so she'd actually come out. It's been a few days since the first game and the girl had locked herself in her bedroom, only coming out for food and showers. She surprisingly went to school, but only talked to Lucas, Brooke, and sometimes Peyton. He was starting to think the whole Nathan situation is getting out of hand.

Lola groaned from the other side of the white door, not really wanting to cheer. But if she didn't, she'd have to face the wrath of Brooke Penelope Davis, something she never wanted to come across. Slowly getting up from her bed she threw on a decent comfortable outfit, packing a few extra since they'd be there for two days. The black haired girl also grabbed her cheer uniform and then packed the condiments she'd also need.

With everything out away, Lola finally opens her door and comes face-to-face with her brother who had his arms crossed, obviously annoyed with her. "I'm sorry. For the past few days."

"It's completely normal behavior, Lola, but I think you went too extreme. I understand you like him, but a teenage boy shouldn't define how you think and act. You just care for people too much and love even harder."

She slowly nodded, fake chuckling, "You're right. It's kind of pathetic, isn't it?"

"No, it's not." Andre grabbed her shoulders and pulled the short girl into a hug. He then smiled, "Now, you're going to make it to that competition and kick some ass, alright. And if you run into Nathan, don't let him see you so down, either."

A real laugh escaped her lips as she pulled away from his embrace. "Thanks for that, I kinda needed it. You don't mind if I use the car, do you? I think driving by myself will be better."

"You can. I won't need it till Monday anyways."

"Okay, thank you."

Making it to the hotel they were staying at, Lola ran into the cheer girls as they practiced and it seemed she got there the same time Peyton and Haley did as well. With her bag still clutched in her hand, she makes her way towards them just in time to hear their conversation.

"Brooke can't make it, actually. She's caught up in a fashion show." Haley informed everyone, ignoring Lola as she sees her stand beside the others in the corner of her eye.

Rachel faked sympathy, clapping her hands to get everyone's attention. "Well, looks like we'll have to forge ahead without her. Alright, team, everyone to your rooms and lets get some rest for tomorrow."

Lola didn't have a problem with Rachel, but she hated how whenever Brooke isn't there, she tries to take over as if she's the captain. It's annoying as hell.

"Gotta rest, so sleepy, yay!" Bevin clapped, ignoring the looks everyone gave her as she grabbed her bag and ran back to her room, a certain boy waiting for the blonde.

The girls scattered in different directions and Lola walked up towards Peyton, "Hey. Do you know the room situation?"

"Nope. And I have a feeling the others don't either. They have a habit of exchanging rooms at the last minute. I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up with Lucas."

The two laughed, taking off into the elevator. "That would happen to us, wouldn't it." Lola prayed something like that wouldn't to her. Imagine staying in a room with Nathan, the one person you were avoiding.

Before Peyton could reply, they're interrupted by Rachel. "You girls wanna come to my room for some vodka?"

Lola and Peyton shared a look before shrugging, "Sure."

Two hours have passed since the three girls had a miniature party together and Rachel was currently showing Lola, who was almost fully waisted, to her room. They had just put a drunk Peyton Sawyer into her own room and now it was just Lola and the redhead left. She still didn't know who she was rooming with, but she honestly didn't care, the girl was too tired.

Rachel opened the door for her, gesturing inside. "There you go. Have fun." She blew a kiss, leaving the girl to walk inside.

Lola watched her before letting out a sigh, walking into the dark as she slipped her shoes off, sliding into her bed and under the warm covers. She was faintly aware of another body beside her's, but she didn't say anything, instead, turned the other way and popped her head down on the pillow.

Nathan Scott woke as soon as he heard someone plop down beside him. Turning on the lamp light, he's surprised to see Lola. Even though he couldn't see the person's face, he just knew. "Lola." He whispered softly, trying to get her to look at him.

Shock ripples through her body at the sound of his voice and she turns, seeing him propped on his elbows. "Oh, hi."

"Hi." He laughed softly, heart suddenly hurting as he realized those are the first words she's said to him in a week. "If you don't mind me asking, why have you been ignoring me? And don't deny it, it's really obvious."

She moved to lay on her back, eyes staring up at the ceiling. "Because, I really like you, duh. But, you're back with Haley again and that means I have to stay away. So, I have been."

The black haired girl wouldn't be confessing this if she hadn't inhaled a bunch of vodka a few hours prior.

"That's why you've been staying away?" Nathan used his right hand and put it on her cheek, making her look up at him. "I'm not back with Haley. Why would you think that?"

She ignores the heat that spreads to her cheek bones. "Haley said you were because your date went well. And I know you still love her, so I knew it had to be true."

"Well, it's not. She tried coming in here tonight, but I told her to go away. I don't want to be with her."

Lola just nodded, her eyes slowly starting to droop closed. "Oh." She suddenly feels the bed start to move as if he's getting up and her eyes go wide. "Where are you going?"

The Scott boy almost felt his knees go weak at how soft her voice sounded in his ears. "I'm gonna sleep on the floor so you won't be uncomfortable."

Shaking her head she grabs his large hand, "Stay with me, please." With a squeeze, her eyes practically beg him.

"Okay." He mumbled, getting into the bed beside her.

Lola didn't say anything else, but she did pull his arm around her body so he'd be cuddling her.

And he just let it happen, his head falling near her shoulder into the crook of her neck. If he could, the boy would stay like this forever.

Lola awoke the next morning with a groan, her hand immediately going to clutch her pounding head. She glanced around and noticed she was by herself. Did that mean she didn't have a roommate? Oh well. The girl slowly stands, trying not to lose her balance whilst doing so, and forced herself to put on her uniform. Today was going to be hell. She slipped out of the room without making any noise and headed to the main lobby.

Nathan made it back to the room minutes later from his coffee run to realize Lola was gone. He smiled to himself as the events of last night played through his mind, glad to have gotten somewhere decent with her. Shaking his head from those thoughts, he makes his way downstairs, where he'd give Lola her drink.

It took a few minutes before he arrived, but he did, his body going straight towards the girl he really liked. "Hi. I got this for you." He pushed the cup in her direction.

"Uhm, thanks?" She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as she grabbed it. Her brown eyes glance up to meet his blue ones, "I gotta go." She quickly said, scared that if she stayed, she'd feel bad for ignoring him.

"Wait," he clutched her arm, grabbing her attention. "Are we not gonna talk about last night?"

"Last night?" She was completely confused.

He opened his mouth to say something else, but he shut it, quickly realizing why she was so confused.

She didn't remember.
