CHAPTER ELEVEN.
fantasy boy draft

ย  ย  ย  ย  YESTERDAY WAS DEFINITELY WEIRD TO SAY THE LEAST. Lola had been asked by Brooke if she wanted to become a cheerleader because of a new girl joining and because of Haley declining the offer, leaving the brunette to ask Lola last and the black haired girl had actually agreed. Which she immediately wanted to back out once the Midnight Madness game came that same very night. Not only had Haley showed up after not knowing about Lola joining, the game didn't even get played due to the brawls that broke out between the boy's team and cheerleaders. Brooke had went after the new girl, Rachel and Peyton went for the mascot for whatever reason. Which left Lola and Haley battling out their own drama.

ย  ย  ย  ย  Lola had originally stood off to the side, but Haley had randomly come up to her, out of breath, and slapped her in the face. It was absolutely ridiculous and although the black haired girl really didn't want to fight over a boy, it was much more personally than that after the Kelly Clarkson knock off attacked her. Lola didn't know if it was because of some deep insecurities or she was just jealous with how close the two were, but she wasn't going to let Haley try to push her around, that's for sure.

ย  ย  ย  ย  School was crazy to say the least. Girl's were fighting over the basketball boy's, trying to dig their claws into their skin and not let anyone else have them, which caused Brooke to call a meeting in a random classroom where all of the cheerleaders currently sat, including Lola. Because even though she had originally wanted to quit, she wasn't going to do something just for the pleasure of Haley James' sake.

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Fantasy boy draft," Brooke clapped her hands, gaining the attention of everyone in the room. "Okay, here's the rules," she grabs a bag from beside her and gestures for the girl's to get up and walk towards her, which they do, each grabbing whatever object was in it. "Once you pick a guy, he's yours for the season, which means, he's off the market and no one else can touch him, got it, Bevin?"

ย  ย  ย  ย  "What're these for?" Haley asked what everyone was wanting to know. It was obvious she didn't want to be there.

ย  ย  ย  ย  Brooke smirked, "I'm glad you asked. Open them up, the number on your compact, will determine where you are in the draft order."

ย  ย  ย  ย  Lola opened her's up slowly and saw her number, ignoring Brooke as she listed off the different blackmail she had on each person.

ย  ย  ย  ย  "If you're not happy with your draft picks, you can trade with someone else." The captain of the squad commented. "Now, let's start off the count starting with number one."

ย  ย  ย  ย  "One." Peyton rolled her eyes, showing her compact to everyone.

ย  ย  ย  ย  Brooke smirked again, "I got number two, right behind ya. Who's got number three?"

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Three." Bevin grinned.

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Uh, four." Haley piped up next.

ย  ย  ย  ย  Great. She was right behind Haley, which meant she wouldn't be able to pick Nathan. Of course. "Five." Lola chimed in.

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Six." Rachel said.

ย  ย  ย  ย  Peyton looked towards her best friend, "So, what happens next after we pick our guy?"

ย  ย  ย  ย  "That's up to you," Brooke grinned, like she normally did, a hint of mischief shining in her brown eyes.

ย  ย  ย  ย  Lola hates this fantasy boy draft with a passion. And it's totally not because she doesn't have anyone to pick. Just kidding, that's exactly why. Peyton or Brooke would pick Lucas, which meant he was off the table and she knew Haley was going to pick Nathan. So, that left her with some random boy she doesn't know. Maybe she could make a new friend...? She still doesn't know too many people here anyways.

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Lols," Lucas snapped his fingers in her face after calling her name about six different times, finally catching her attention. "You alright?"

ย  ย  ย  ย  She glanced into his eyes from where he sat in front of her, the two of them outside on one of the many blue benches. "Yeah, just trying to find someone for the draft. I got number five, so I can't pick you, which leads me to finding some rando I don't know."

ย  ย  ย  ย  Lucas smiled sympathetically towards her, "Sorry." His eyes crinkled like they normally did. "If it makes you feel any better, I could ask whoever picks me to bring you along with."

ย  ย  ย  ย  "And be a third wheel? No thanks." Lola mumbled, looking back down at her book that was laid open beside her.

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Then how about I call the date off with that person and we just spend the night together." He watched her face slightly light up at the idea and he knew she'd agree. "We can eat popcorn and watch a movie, we haven't done that since this summer. C'mon, what do you say?"

ย  ย  ย  ย  Lola slowly nodded, "Okay, yeah, I'd actually love that."

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Great, can't wait." He got up from his seat and kissed the top her head before someone moving towards them caught his eye. "Oh god, it's Nathan. I better get going before he decides to push me down again." With that, he left, waving goodbye to his best friend and ignoring his brother as they passed by each other.

ย  ย  ย  ย  Lola smiled as Nathan came up to her, taking the same seat Lucas had just gotten up from. "Hey."

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Hey," Nathan smiled gently, before it fell from his face. "If Haley picks my name, yo-you wouldn't be mad if I went on the date with her, would you?"

ย  ย  ย  ย  Her heart dropped into her stomach, bile starting to make its way to her mouth. "I-I don't know why you're asking me this, Nate. It's your life, you can do whatever you please." She didn't mean to sound so harsh, but she couldn't help it. Jealousy was a terrible disease and she hated to admit that she was at the current moment.

ย  ย  ย  ย  "I just don't want you thinking that this is my way of wanting to get back together with her, you know. I'm doing better without her and I know how proud you've been of me these past few daysโ€”"

ย  ย  ย  ย  She quickly cut him off as she shut her book, "I wouldn't think any less of you, Nate. If you do go on a date with her, it could possibly help with the unresolved feelings. You could finally decide if you're ready to be in a relationship with her again or if you're ready to move on. And I know you think you've already moved on, but you haven't. You should have a talk with her and see where your head is at or you'll regret it. So, I think you should."

ย  ย  ย  ย  Even though he didn't want to admit it, Nathan had secretly wanted her to beg him not to go, but he knew she would never. That's not the type of person she is.

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Okay, I will. But, we don't know if she'll pick me."

ย  ย  ย  ย  She did. Haley picked Nathan, just like Lola knew she'd do. Rachel picked Lucas, Peyton picked Mouth, Bevin picked Skills and Lola just said some random ass name, knowing she'd be doing this with Lucas. Yes, Brooke said no breaking the rules or you'd be kicked off the team, but she couldn't care less. Plus, it was Lucas' decision, not her's or even Brooke's. It's his life and she really couldn't auction him off.

ย  ย  ย  ย ย  And although Lola was terrified of what would happen between the old married couple during their date, she was ready to spend time with Lucas, a boy she loved dearly.
