Stephen looked at Charlie, she had come over to see him, in fact, she had been doing that lot lately and she was running out of excuses to say to Dec. Stephen sat down with her and smiled.

Stephen" You know you don't have to tell Dec where you are going, you are twenty-seven years old"

Charlie" Yeah I know, it's just I've been lying to him for nearly two months, I don't think I've ever lied to anyone for that long"

Stephen" Have you ever lied to me?"

Charlie" I don't think so, at least not anything I can think of"

Stephen*pulls her into cuddle* You know we are going to have to tell Dec at some point"

Charlie" I know I just don't want to tell him, I'm nervous what if he doesn't understand I mean I may as well be dating him, though I won't because that would be very strange"

Stephen" I'm just saying that it would be better if he heard it from us instead of the press"

Charlie" Yeah I know I get you, I just don't know when I mean I'm too nervous"

Stephen" Well, we don't have to do it at this very moment if you don't want to"

Charlie" Thanks, we will tell him, at some point"

Charlie and Stephen sat together on the sofa and Stephen pulled into his chest and kisses her forehead.

Charlie" I really love you Stephen"*kisses him on the lips*

Stephen" I love you as well, I've been looking for the perfect girl and she was under my nose the whole time"

Charlie" Same people always said after kissing all of the frogs I would find my prince and here he is"*strokes Stephen's face*kisses him close* I love you"

Stephen" I love you as well"

It was quiet for a moment then Stephen spoke up.

Stephen" Are you okay Charlie?"*pushes the hair out of her eyes*

Charlie" Stephen can I chat to you?"

Stephen" Of course you can, you can chat to me about anything"

Charlie" I've been thinking about how things are at the moment, with this virus and even though I tell myself there is nothing I can do about it and it is what it is I think deep down it's still worrying me to bits"

Stephen*holds her close* Shhh, I have been worrying about it as well, I mean nothing is ever going to be the same again that's a given but we can all do our bit to make things better for each other, like wearing our masks, making space between us and always making sure our hands are washed"

Charlie" I know, I do all the things and always inform all my followers to do the things, sometimes I just think it all gets pent up inside me and I don't know how to express it"

Stephen" Well, just so you know that if you ever want to talk to me about anything you can, okay?"

Charlie" Thanks Stephen, I think it's also really overwhelming because of all the rules that keep being made or something gets changed and it just throws everything out"

Stephen" Yeah I know, it's exactly how I feel when I watch the news, I try not to watch as much"

Charlie" I usually wait till dad tells me otherwise I don't watch the news"

Stephen" You should tell him and Ali how are you are feeling"

Charlie" I know I'm just worried I'll spill everything about us"

Stephen" Or the more reason we should tell him"

Charlie*sighs* I know, I suppose we should, you might need to make sure you are more than two metres away from him so you can get a head start on running"

Stephen" He won't be that bad I mean I've known them for years"

Charlie" I know so have I and I've always known he has been full-on protective dad mode when I have had boyfriends"

Stephen" Yeah but to be fair most of them were idiots half the time and no respect for women"

Charlie" Yeah I guess you are right there, I would just keep your distance any way you never know"

Charlie*leans into Stephen*

Stephen" Do you want to talk about anything else?"

Charlie" Well, just everything that is happening, I just think it's keeping this secret from dad, the virus, all the new rules that keep happening, I think it just keeps piling on top of me"

Charlie gets on the floor and just try to calm herself, her hands over her face. Stephen kneels down and cuddles her close.

Stephen*holds her* It's okay, shhh I got you"

Charlie" I just want to scream, Stephen let it all out"

Stephen" I know, I know, you can scream into me if you want"

Charlie" Just everything all gets on top of me, there is always that what if Dad or Ant gets the virus and that they could give it to me or Isla or you could get it from me or"

Stephen*shhhes her* It's okay, it's okay you can't think like that all the time, I know it's tough but it will get you down, all you can do is just obey the restrictions and keep safe"

Charlie" I know, I know that it just gets all on top of me"

Stephen" I know it's okay it all gets on top of at times, I'm always here to talk as are Ant, Dec and Ali I'm sure"

Charlie*hugs Stephen* I love you, Stephen"

Stephen" I love you as well"*kisses her head*

Charlie" I thinking of going to see Dad and Ant for the BGT Final because it is the big one and I do want to chat to him before he goes on stage"

Stephen" Not to tell him about us"

Charlie" Oh no, that would trip him up before the final, just to chat to him as all"

Stephen" Of course"

-BGT Studios-

Ant looks at his best mate who seems to be in his own little world.

Ant" You okay mate?"

Dec" Yeah, I'm okay"

Ant" It's just you seem like you are not really with me today, you want to talk, it's important more than ever now to talk to each other"

Dec*smiles* Yeah, thanks mate"

Ant*sits down* So tell me"

Dec*sighs*sits down* It's Charlie, she has been acting really weird lately I mean I know she is twenty-seven and she can do what she wants but we have always been so close and she has never hidden anything from me"

Ant*sits down*arm around Dec* Have you tried speaking to her?"

Dec" I'm so nervous like what if it's something serious, what if she has the virus"

Ant" I'm sure if she thought she had it, she would tell you, she wouldn't keep that from you would she, I'm sure it's nothing serious if you want I can chat to her if you like"

Dec" Would you, I mean I would I'm just so nervous I mean what if she doesn't want me involved"

Ant*pulls Dec for a hug* Oh mate"

Dec*tears in his eyes*

Ant" Ay, come on little fella, don't be silly come on"

Dec was the most sensitive out of the two of them, he always had been even though Dec was the oldest Ant was always looking him.

Dec" Oh, it's silly me crying"*wipes his eyes*

Ant" It's okay you got a daughter and we have a pandemic going on I think it's acceptable for you to be like this"

Dec" Thanks man"

Charlie was in her dressing room she had requested for the final, or rather her dad had asked for her. Stephen sat on the sofa, smiling up at her.

Charlie" You didn't have to come with me"

Stephen" Oh do you not want me here"*pulls a puppy dog face*

Charlie" Of course I do, you know I do"*sits on his lap*

Stephen*kisses her on the lips*strokes her face* Beautiful"

Charlie" Handsome"*kisses him* I just don't want us to get caught"

Stephen" We won't who knows we are here"

Charlie" Ehhh for one my dad and for a second Ant"

Stephen" They don't know we are here yet"*kisses her*

Charlie*smirks* Stephen"*playfully pushes him*

Stephen" Come on"

Stephen pushes Charlie underneath him and starts kissing her, she pushes her hands up his shirt and places them on his chest.

Stephen*jumps* Oh"

Charlie" Are you okay?"

Stephen" Your hands are cold"

Charlie" Oh sorry good thing you told me before they went any further" *smirks*

Stephen*smirks* Cheeky"*pokes her ribs*

Charlie" No, no tickling"*smiles*

Stephen" Oh what are you going to do about, you are underneath me and my hands are above you"*wiggles them*

Charlie" Stephen, no please don't tickle me"

Stephen" Oh you Donnelly's are so ticklish"

Charlie*leans up to kiss Stephen*

They kiss for a while before parting and when they do Ant is standing there. Both their eyes go wide.

Ant" What is going on here?"

Stephen*stutters*Umm"

Charlie*stutters* Oh well, umm"

Ant" Are you two?"*points to them both*

Charlie*sighs* Yes, me and Stephen have been seeing each other we have been seeing each other for two months now"

Ant" Have you told Dec?"

Charlie" I'm his daughter, he is my dad what do you think?"

Ant*sits down* Charlie you have to tell him, he knows there is something up he thinks you might have this virus"

Charlie*sighs* I don't know how to tell him Ant, I don't know"*sits down*

Ant*sits down one side* Just tell him, that you have found someone you really love and you hope he can understand"

Stephen*sits the other side*cuddles her* I'll keep that 2-metre distance not just because of recent events but because of your dad"

Charlie" I can never imagine dad getting angry, I'm not sure I have ever seen him angry"

Ant" He has been angry a couple of times, he is just so gentle isn't he, look I know you can do this Little D, just ease him into it"

Charlie" I guess"

Ant" But do it after the BGT Final"

Charlie" Alright, are you sure about this?"

Ant*taps her shoulder* It will be okay Charlie"

They then all look around and see Dec standing in the doorway.

-awkward silence-

Charlie" Dad! How long have you been there?"

Dec" A while probably since the word Two months"

Charlie*bites her lip* So you heard everything?"

Dec" Yes I did, why did you never tell me any of this"

Charlie*sighs* I just didn't know how to tell you and Stephen is the same age as you"

Stephen" We didn't think you would agree to the age difference"

Dec" You shut up, I don't want to hear anything out of you, Charlie we have always shared everything with each other, when did this happen"

Charlie" It sort of happened in lockdown but we never really thought about it, it was only two months ago we really started to think about it, that day we went out for a picnic we ended up kissing"

Dec" Oh my god, I need some space to think"*runs off*

Ant" Dec come back"*runs after him*

Charlie*sits down*starts crying* Oh my god"

Stephen*sits down*cuddles Charlie* Come here, come on"

Charlie*sobs* It's just me and dad have never argued it was always just us until he met Ali and even then we were still close"

Stephen*holds her* Shhhh I know, I know"

Charlie sits with Stephen for an hour as they cuddle and he keeps pecking her forehead with kisses.

Stephen" Why don't we go back to mine, we can have cuddles, have something to eat and just watch some telly"

Charlie*nods* I was going to stay but I don't know what to say to dad"

Stephen" Come on I got you, come on"

Ant*looks at Dec*

Dec" Just leave me alone for a minute I need to think"

Ant*sighs* Alright mate but I'm here to chat"

Dec*sighs* It just hurts me so much she never told me, how long have you known?"

Ant" I found out the same time as you, I caught them in her dressing room"

Dec*head in his hands* Oh god, I don't know what to do"

Ant" Don't stress about it, just think about this final first, get that done and then we can sort this out"

Dec" I guess, it's just a shock as all, I probably should have seen it I mean they were always so close I just didn't realise they were that close"

Ant" It's okay, let me put it this way, just think about all the idiots she has dated and now she has possibly found someone she really loves"

Dec*sighs* I guess it's the age difference really I mean Stephen is the same age as us"

Ant" I know but if she is really happy and if they love each other isn't that enough"

Dec*sighs*sits down* I want to be happy for her I do I think it's just going to take me a while with the age difference and that"

Ant" That's okay Declan, look come on let's get ready for this final"

Charlie and Stephen were sat on the sofa, Charlie was cuddled in Stephen, they had BGT on but both were not watching it.

Charlie" Maybe it's a good thing we don't have BGMT this year, I mean think about them coming on after the final"

Stephen" Yeah it would be awkward wouldn't it"

Charlie*sighs* Stephen, do you think dad will talk to me again"

Stephen" Of course he will, I mean now more than ever we need to stick together"

Charlie*smiles* I guess, I love you, Stephen"

Stephen*kisses her forehead* I love you, so much"

They keep kissing each other and roll about on the sofa, Charlie sits on top of Stephen and plays with his shirt, he pushes his fingers through hers and grips her waving them. Charlie moves her hands to his belt and he smirks.

They had got to the final act of the night and it was Ant and Dec's golden buzzer and they both stood at the side of the stage feeling like proud dads as Jon got ready to play his final song.

*End of Jon's performance*

Jon stands up as all the judges, Ant and Dec and the virtual audience clap so hard their hands probably hurt. He walks over to Ant and Dec.

Jon" I didn't think I would get through that"

Ant*wipes his eyes* I didn't think I would get through that"

Dec" Me neither, Alesha"

Alesha*wipes her eyes* Oh Jon you have done it again, what a unique act you are just to make us all cry and laugh all in one act, it was just a summary of this year, so reflective and so poignant and I'm so proud for you, congrats to the boys on an incredible golden buzzer, you really took your moment tonight"

Amanda" You really did and I didn't know what else you could do I mean you have been on a, I hate saying journey on this show but I think 2020 has been the same for everyone and we do relish the fact that we have to spend a bit more time with our  families no matter what situation we have been in, you have just put the exclamation point on 2020, you finished it and you made us all feel positive towards the end of 2020 and just well done"

Jon" That was all I was trying to do"

Ashley" Yeah it was my favourite mix, it made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me think about how you can involve what people see in the performance and use it enhance your craft and people will use that to remind of the times and for me that is great artistry and just a performer it was brilliant"

Jon" Thank you, Ashley, thank you so much"

David" Yes, I think you have summed up this moment of 2020 so well and just like Ashley and Diversity created this moment about what everyone has been all thinking and what we are all thinking and just want to say you are amazing and you could be the favourite to win"

Jon" Thank you, David, Thank you, judges, I mean you can say the word Journey I mean BGT has been longer than it has ever been but for me, it's gone very quickly, I mean you guys started off and it's just been so incredible and I will never lose it"

Dec" I mean you say we started off, you have made us laugh, you have made us cry and you have made our hearts swell, I want to give you a hug"

Jon*smiles* I have never wanted to hug two men so much"

Dec" Well, we are dead proud of you so much"

They read the phone lines out.

Charlie" STEPHEN DAD AND ANT ARE ANNOUNCING THE WINNER!"

Stephen" I'M COMING I'M COMING, I'M COMING"

Stephen runs in with another drink and plops himself down on the sofa.

Stephen" I'm here, do it"

Charlie*plays it* Who you want to win?"

Stephen" Be nice for Sign along with us to win what about you?"

Charlie" Jon Courtenay and not just he is my dad and Ant's golden buzzer he is hilarious and he totally summed up 2020"

Stephen" That is very true"

Dec" So a year unlike any other we are now are just left with two acts"

Ant" Jon Courtenay and Sign along with us one of you is about to win a quarter of a million pounds and a spot on the bill at the Royal Variety Performance"

Dec" The Winner of BGT 2020 is........"

*massive pause*

JON COURTENAY.

Then all the confetti shoots up and all the judges rise from the chairs clapping, the virtual audience clapping hard as they did for the NHS. Ant and Dec clap as their golden buzzer has just won"

Ant" Oh Jon, well done"

Dec" Congrats"

Ant" How do you feel?"

Jon" Oh don't make me speak, look at me"*hands shaking*

Ant" We will come back to you"

Dec" Take a moment"

*they ask how Jade and Christian feel about coming second*

Ant" And there we have it, Jon is our winner and the first Golden Buzzer to ever win BGT"

Jon" Really?, WOW!"

Ant" And he is our golden buzzer!"

Ant and Dec jump up and down waving their arms in the air, so so proud of Jon.

Jon" Well, I tried to stay calm because I am very bad at hiding disappointment and I've woken up most nights but this morning I woke up, I sometimes wake up with ideas for songs, and this morning I woke up with an idea for The Royal Variety performance and I tried not to think about it too much as that would be too much pressure, I just it's been amazing"

Ant" Well done, congratulations, he is the best winner ay, judges"

All" Yes"

Alesha" Well done Jon"

Amanda" Yeah congrats Jon"

Dec" Anything you want to say to everyone that voted for you"

When Ant and Dec came off they celebrated by just jumping up and down with everyone else.

Ant" Where are you off to man, what about the wrap party?"

Dec" I am going to see my daughter, Jon's performance and what Amanda said really jogged my mind as to what is important in these times"

Ant" Oh okay, good on you man, tell her I said hi"

Dec" I will"

Charlie and Stephen are sat on the bed when they hear someone knock on the door.

Stephen" I'll get it"

Stephen makes his way downstairs and opens the door.

Stephen" Oh Dec, what are you doing here, I.I thought you would be at the final"

Dec" I wanted to see my daughter, I wanted to talk to her"

Stephen" Oh okay, let me get changed and I'll get her"

Dec" Thanks"

Dec sighed as he looked around Stephen's house it was very very tidy and he had tried so hard not to notice that Stephen was still only in his boxers. Stephen rushes back upstairs and Charlie smiles as she sees him.

Charlie*lays on the bed* Who was it?"

Stephen*shoves on his jeans* It's your dad!"

Charlie*grabs the duvet* What is he doing here, I thought he was at the final"

Stephen" I know me too, he said he wants to talk to you"

Charlie*bites her lip* I should get changed then"

Stephen" Yeah I would"

Charlie*sighs*

Charlie gets up with the duvet around her and heads to the bathroom. Stephen shoves on his trousers and heads downstairs.

Stephen" She is just coming, sorry I just had a shower I didn't expect to see anyone"

Dec*nods*

When Charlie come down she sits down at looks at her dad.

Charlie" Hey, dad thought you would be at the final"

Dec" I was but something happened, something made me realise about everything, that we shouldn't be angry with family or that we shouldn't be stupid about such things during this time"

Charlie" Dad what are you talking about?"

Dec*sighs* I'm saying that I still want us to talk Charlie, I know we had an argument and it was all just a shock, I mean I'm still not okay with it but I want to be"

Charlie" Let me just clear it's the age difference that bothers you"

Dec*sighs* Yes, it was just the whole shock of it, I knew something was up with you but I just never imagined it was this"

Charlie" I'm sorry"

Dec" How long has this been going on for?"

Charlie*sighs* Two months"

Dec" TWO MONTHS!"

Both Stephen and Charlie jump.

Dec" Sorry, it's just, oh wow"

Charlie" It's okay dad"

Stephen" I'm sorry mate we didn't want to tell you because well it is the age difference"

Dec*sighs* Look, just what happened tonight with mine and Ant's golden buzzer and it was something that Amanda said we should all spend time with our families no matter what situation we are in and I don't want us to fall out over this"

Charlie*gets up*hugs Dec* I love you dad"

Dec*holds her close* I love you too"*kisses her head* Look this will take me a while to get used to it but I want to"

Charlie" Thank you dad"

Dec" I thought about it, that after all the males you have dated have been awful and with Stephen, I know he will look after you"

Stephen" I will, I've always looked after her"

Dec" I know you will look I better go, look I'll talk to you tomorrow, oh wait are you planning to tell everyone yet?"

Stephen" Well we don't quite know how we are going to break this I mean whatever we do it we are going to get bad publicity"

Dec" Very, look I'm happy I know and that I haven't found out in the news"

They show Dec out and he leaves and Charlie looks at Stephen.

Charlie" I'm so happy he knows"

Stephen*smiles* Me too"*hugs her*

Stephen picks Charlie up and as her legs go around his waist he holds her as they kiss each other.

Charlie" I love you"

Stephen" I love you" 

Story Notes: OOOO so what did you think, the winner of BGT has been announced and Dec is trying to come to terms with his daughter dating Stephen. We can all see he wants to try for his daughter. What do you think will happen next?. What do you think of Stephen and Charlie together did you always think it would happen. Let me know. 

Authors Notes: So yeah this has taken me three days to write just on and off but on Friday I threw myself into it and continued yesterday and today. I am going to be doing some research on the new covid rules and see if i can invovle that in the story, I mean Charlie could end up living with Stephen again. I really hope you liked this chapter, it is shorter than last years BGT Final at only 4,000 words but oh well lol.
