VIII. Love Never Dies

A couple of days had passed after the bombing of the U.S. Capitol Building and Eliza and Bruce were once again at Wayne Enterprises in Bruce's office. "I'm so glad I told them that you would be testifying via video chat because if you had shown up in person... I-I could have lost you." Bruce said looking at his daughter with sad eyes. "But you didn't loose me. I'm still here with you dad and I won't leave." Eliza said hugging her father.

"I hope so pumpkin I love you." Bruce said. "I love you too dad." Eliza replied, her phone beeped and she picked it up. "Oh crap. Dad I've got to go I just got a reminder that I have a photo shoot in 15 minutes for my clothing line." Eliza said standing up and kissing her dad on the cheek. "Oh that's right! Bye honey have fun and I'll see you later." Bruce said also returning a kiss. "Thanks dad." Eliza said smiling as she walked out the door.

Eliza walked to the elevator and waited for it to open. Once it did she was about to step inside but she recognized someone. "Hey Clark what are you doing here?" Eliza asked . "Oh I just came by to talk with your dad about some things." Clark replied. "Oh okay. Well I better get going I'll see you later." Eliza said walking into the elevator and pressing the button that read level 1. "Definitely." Clark said smiling and watched as the door closed.

Clark then proceeded and knocked on the big wooden door that read "Bruce Wayne." He stood there nervously before someone replied "Come in." Clark walked into the office. "Mr. Kent my three o'clock appointment. What brings you here?" Bruce asked. "Actually sir I came to talk to you about your daughter Eliza." Clark said clearing this throat. "Oh really I should have known." Bruce trailed off. "Mr. Wayne I wanted to ask for your permission to ask Eliza to be my girlfriend." Clark said.

"I don't want to be the type of guy that forbids two people from loving each other so your permission is granted. Eliza is my daughter and she's been through a lot therefore, if she ever sheds a single tear or if her life is ever endangered because of you. Trust me Mr. Kent there will be many problems between you and I." Bruce said, his voice became cold and his eyes narrowed at Clark. "Of course Mr. Wayne, I can assure you I will never hurt or endanger your daughter." Clark replied.

"I certainly hope so because if you do I will disappear you from this planet before you can even blink. I will hurt you in ways that haven't even been invented. And I will hurt so bad you will wish you were never even born. Have I made myself clear?" Bruce stated. "Yes sir yes you have." Clark said as he gulped, he certainly underestimated Bruce. "When are you planning to ask out Eliza?" Bruce asked. "Today sir." Clark replied.

"How are you planning to ask her? Anything I can help you out with?" Bruce asked. "Actually yes you can." Clark replied. The two men talked with each other and after Clark shared his ideas with Bruce he agreed and contacted several people to help them organize everything. After a couple of hours everything was set for Clark and Eliza's date, with the help of Bruce. "Go ahead Kent you can go ask her." Bruce said.

"Thank you Mr. Wayne your support means a lot to me." Clark replied. "Please call me Bruce and no problem Clark." Bruce replied and the two men shook hands. Clark smiled and walked out of the office and the building. Luckily he bumped into Eliza before she walked into the building. "Hey Eliza." Clark said. "Hey Clark what's up? You're still here." Eliza said. "Yeah there was a lot to talk about with your dad." Clark replied. "Oh okay did everything go alright?" Eliza asked.

"Yeah everything went perfectly fine. I actually wanted to ask you a question." Clark said scratching the back of his head. "Oh sure go ahead." Eliza smiled. Clark froze for a second observing her beautiful smile and the way her eyes sparkled in the sun. He snapped out of his thoughts before continuing. "I was wondering if you'd maybe like to go on a date with me today we'll have dinner and go to the park." Clark said.

"I would love to go on a date with you Clark." Eliza said as she blushed. "I'll pick you up t-then. A-at your house at 8:00." Clark said stuttering and Eliza giggled at his nervousness. "I can't wait. Thank you for asking me." Eliza said. "Thank you for saying yes." Clark replied. Eliza smiled as she walked into the building and Clark threw his fist in the air when she turned her back to him. The two went their separate ways both waiting excitedly until their date.

*At the Wayne house*

The hours had passed and Eliza was ready for her date with Clark. Her hair was swept to one side, her makeup was light and she had a red cocktail dress that ended to her knees with black high heels and a silver clutch. She went downstairs and her dad was in the living room. "You look beautiful as always sweetheart Clark is a very lucky man." Bruce said. "Thank you so much dad." Eliza said as she hugged her father. "If he tries something on you call me I'll run him over with the Batmobile." Bruce said.

Eliza laughed and held her father's hands. "Of course I will dad." Eliza replied. The doorbell rung and Bruce walked over to the door. "Hello Bruce." Clark said. "Hello Clark, she's all yours." Bruce said. Eliza walked over to the door and Clark extended his arm. "Shall we?" Clark asked. "We shall." Eliza said linked her arm with Clark. "Bring her home at 10:00 sharp." Bruce stated. "Of course sir." Clark said and him and Eliza walked into Clark's car and drove off to a restaurant.

"You look stunning." Clark said. "Thank you Clark you are so sweet. You look don't look bad yourself." Eliza said. The two talked until they arrived at the restaurant. "A reservation for Mr. Kent and Ms. Wayne right this way." The hostess said sitting the two at a table. The soft music of the piano played as the two talked. The couples were at the restaurant as well enjoying the environment. Time had passed and Eliza and Clark got to know each other a little bit more.

It was now 9:20 and Clark and Eliza finished their meal. "I'll pay." Clark said. "No Clark how could I let you do that." Eliza said. "It's alright it's on me." Clark said. "Fine but I'm paying the tip." Eliza said. "Okay, okay." Clark said smiling and Eliza giggled. The two left the restaurant and walked around the park. "So have you ever been on a date before? Of course you probably have you're amazing and beautiful." Clark said in realization.

"Why thank you Clark and yes I have been, his name was Damon. Let's just say it didn't end well. I found out he was only using me because of my money and he cheated on me, so I broke up with him. I was heartbroken and never trusted guys after that." Eliza said. "I'm so sorry. You definitely deserved better and any guy that's stupid enough to cheat on an amazing girl like you is a complete fool." Clark said.

"Thank you Clark." Eliza smiled. The two walked around the park some more and Clark checked his watch. It was 9:29 exactly one minute until he would ask the big question to Eliza. "Eliza I have one other question." Clark said. "Okay tell me what is it?" Eliza asked. "Look up." Clark said. Right on time fireworks lit up the park and in different colors it read on the sky "Eliza will you be my girlfriend?" Eliza turned back and looked at Clark in shock.

"Clark are you serious? You want me to be your girlfriend?" Eliza asked. "Yes I do. Eliza I fell in love with you since the moment I laid eyes on you. You made me feel something that not even Lois ever made me feel. I like you Eliza, a lot and I promise to love and protect you. I will never hurt you the way Damon did. I promise." Clark said. "Clark. I fell in love with you too but I was afraid because I thought you would do the same thing Damon did." Eliza said.

"But now that I know that you would never do that so yes Clark I will be your girlfriend." Eliza said smiling. Clark pulled Eliza close to his body, he wrapped his arms around her waist and she wrapped her arms around his neck. The two leaned close and their lips connected, moving in sync as fireworks continued to erupt in the sky. "I love you Eliza." Clark whispered through the kiss. "I love you too Clark." Eliza said.

The two left the park and Clark drove Eliza back to the house. Once they got there Eliza stopped at the door. "I had fun Clark, this was an amazing night. No guy has ever done something like this for me. Thank you." Eliza said. "There's no need to thank me. You're worth it." Clark said cupping the side of Eliza's face. Eliza planted a kiss on his lips before she went inside the house. Clark went back to his car and smiled knowing the girl he loved was now his girlfriend.

As Eliza walked into the house Bruce was waiting on the couch. "Dad are you seriously still up?" Eliza asked. "Of course it's barely 10:00. Plus I needed to see that you would return home safely." Bruce said. "Okay no wonder." Eliza smiled. "Did he try anything on you?" Bruce asked. "No dad. He was really sweet and he was a gentleman the whole time. I'm surprised you even let me go on a date with him." Eliza said.

"Who do you think helped him plan the date? The fireworks in the sky?" Bruce asked while smirking. "Dad you helped him didn't you. No wonder you acted so normal when I told you." Eliza said. "And that's the reason why I know he asked you to be his girlfriend." Bruce said. "What? Dad!" Eliza said playfully smacking his arm and Bruce chuckled. "I'm going to change." Eliza said walking up the steps. "Did you two use protection?" Bruce yelled out.

"DAD!" Eliza yelled as she slammed the door shut and Bruce stood there laughing. Eliza removed her red dress and heels, she put them in her closet, took off her necklace and removed her makeup. She then changed into her pajamas which were a Batman shirt and some white shorts. Eliza went downstairs and she sat next to her father on the couch. "Hey kiddo I thought you were going to sleep." Bruce said. "No I wanted to spend time with my old man." Eliza said.

"I'm not that old I'm 45." Bruce informed. "I need to get you a cane then." Eliza said and they both laughed. "I see you still have that shirt." Bruce smiled. "Yeah of course. Team Batman all the way!" Eliza said throwing a fist in the air. "That's my kid." Bruce said giving her a high five. "What if I was on team Superman?" Eliza asked. "Then you would be grounded until you have kids and until your kids have kids, and until their kids have kids....." Bruce trailed off.

"Alright then at least we have that cleared up." Eliza said as she laughed. "How about we watch some movies kid we need some more father and daughter time." Bruce said. "Of course. You pick the movies and I'll make popcorn." Eliza said. Both father and daughter ate their popcorn and talked with each other as they watched movies. Time passed and the clock read 2:00 am. Bruce noticed his daughter fell asleep right next to him, he turned off the TV and picked up Eliza.

He opened the door to her room and put her down on her bed, he pulled the covers over her and kissed her forehead "Goodnight, my angel, sleep tight. Daddy loves you so much." Bruce said as he walked out of her room and closed the door behind him. He wondered how he ever became so lucky to be blessed with an amazing child like her. He knew he couldn't bare to loose her and he would have to protect her now more than ever now that she has become Batwoman.
