V. Dark Knightmares

What Eliza didn't know was that moments before Lex Luthor's party her father Bruce stooped by his bat cave. There Bruce stood, an empty look on his face as he looked through the glass was a costume. A robin costume, a partner he once had 10 years ago but was killed when he ran into the Joker. Bruce kept the ripped costume as a remembrance of what he failed to do. "HA HA HA joke's on you BATMAN" read in yellow painted letters on the costume.

Next to the glassed costume was a picture of Eliza she was smiling while leaning on a wall. Bruce kept the portrait of her next to the costume to remind him not to make the same mistake. Never let Eliza fall in the hands of a criminal especially the Joker or else he would have to put something of Eliza behind a glass box too. It was now the next day and after coming back from finishing a couple of businesses Bruce started encrypt valuable information that he had gotten from Lex's party. Seeing as it would take a long time he slowly fell asleep.

Dressed in the bat suit and a brown jacket in a deserted place Batman looked into his binoculars seeing an abandoned city. All that was left was the sandy hot place. Men then charged at him armed he knocked them down one by one. Mysterious creatures with wings flew around the area too. Batman thought he was winning the fight with the men until they all got a hold of him. He struggled trying to fight but a blow to his head knocked him unconscious.

When he woke up his hands were tied above his head. He looked around and saw dead men hanging also with their hands tied up. Superman flew into the dark room the only light came from outside. Armed men dressed in black kneeled as he walked down the hallway. Superman walked then pulverized the men hanging with their arms above their heads with his laser vision. He stopped once he reached Batman and removed his mask.

Bruce looked at Superman with a look that could kill. Superman looked at the mask then threw it on the ground. "She was my world and you took her away from me." Superman said. Bruce continued to look at him. Superman placed his hand on Bruce's chest his look became angrier and he stabbed his hand through Bruce's chest and he screamed in pain. Bruce fell deeper into his nightmares. One particular nightmare caught his attention.

It was Eliza. Eliza was in his nightmare. Eliza and Bruce were walking down the street together. They both had came back from seeing a movie. A pair of thugs tried to rob both Eliza and Bruce. Since both father and daughter knew how to defend themselves they surprised the criminals. The thug swung at Eliza but she blocked it. After finding out her father was Batman Bruce taught her all she needed to know so that she would be able to defend herself.

Bruce trained her day and night until she learned everything she needed to know. Bruce was fighting a second thug. Once Eliza knocked down the thug she was fighting she smiled at her father. That beautiful pearl white smile would be the last time Bruce ever saw it. The thug got up and stabbed Eliza. As he pulled the knife out of Eliza's stomach she started falling to the ground slowly. Bruce ran to his daughter and caught her.

The two thugs ran out of the alley leaving Eliza and Bruce alone. "Dad a-are you okay? A-are you safe?" Eliza breathed out trying to speak. But she couldn't the pain that the knife caused made it painful for her to even speak or breathe. "Yeah sweetie I'm okay." Bruce said putting a strand of hair behind his daughter's ear. "I can't bare to see you in pain." Bruce continued. "It's okay. I-It's okay dad." Eliza said as a tear escaped her eye and Bruce cried as well.

"I-I love you dad please don't blame yourself for this." Eliza said. Blood poured out of her mouth and ran all the way down to her chest. Bruce cried harder seeing his daughter like this. "I love you too princess but you're not dying today. You can't leave me. You're going to be okay and everything will be alright." Bruce said kissing Eliza's forehead.

"I really wish that could happen. I wish we had more time together. Please don't ever forget me. D-don't forget me." Eliza said as she faded away her breathing finally came to a stop. She closed her eyes and her head layed on her fathers chest. Her hand fell to the cement motionless.

Bruce held Eliza and cried as the world fell silently around them. His only daughter. She was gone. Forever. Bruce let out a scream letting out his anger and sadness into the earth. He cried harder and harder as he held onto his daughter. Eliza, his happiness, his world, his life. She was gone. His everything was gone and he couldn't go back and save her. It was his fault. She died because of him.

Bruce shot up out of his sleep and saw a man in some kind a portal. Light and electricity was flowing around him. "Bruce! Bruce listen to me now! It's Eliza! She's the key! Am I too soon? I am too soon! You were right about him! You've always been right about him. Fear him! Find us Bruce. You have to find us! And don't let Eliza die. Don't let her die, you need to protect her now more than ever. Protect her! She can't die." The man said as the portal closed.

Bruce shot out of his sleep and sighed in relief as he realized it had only been a nightmare. He couldn't be so sure though. Bruce ignored the fact that the file had finished encrypting and ran out of the room and went downstairs. Why would a man warn him? Should he even listen to him? "Eliza? Eliza? Sweetheart where are you?" Bruce asked frantically. "Dad I'm here. What's wrong?" Eliza asked. Bruce turned around and a huge wave of relief came over him.

There she was his beautiful daughter standing right in front of him. Unharmed. She was alive and well. "Baby you're okay." Bruce said as he hugged his daughter. He held her tighter than he ever did before and Eliza was stunned but still hugged him back. "Yeah dad I'm fine." Eliza replied with a smile. "I love you so much kiddo. I love you more than my life itself." Bruce said and Eliza laughed a little.

"I love you too dad." She replied. "What's that in your hands?" Bruce asked as he and Eliza finished hugging. "It's nothing." Eliza replied. "Come on I took care of you since you were a baby and your jaw twitches when you have something to say. Now tell me what is it?" Bruce asked. Eliza was hesitant for a moment but she decided to tell her father. "Lex Luthor wants me to work for him at LexCorp as his assistant." Eliza said handing her father the letter.

"You're not saying yes right?" Bruce asked. "Of course not dad but I don't know how to say no." Eliza said. "Don't worry I'll do it for you." Bruce said. "Thanks dad." Eliza said. "No problem kiddo." Bruce replied. "Umm also you're still obsessed over the whole Joker killed Jason aren't you?" Eliza asked sadly. "Sorry Eliza I just still feel guilty 10 years ago and I still can't believe I let that happen I miss thim" Bruce said.

"I know dad so do I. I was only 10 when he died. Even though Jason was my adoptive brother you saw how he loved me like if I was his own sister. He would defend me from bullies, pick me up from school, play with me even when it was with dolls and tea parties." Eliza said smiling while blinking back a few tears. "I loved him too." She said quietly.

"That's why I kept his costume. I need to protect you I can't let what happened to him happen to you. I can't loose you." Bruce said. "I know dad and you won't don't worry. I'm the one that's afraid to loose you. I guess we're both afraid of loosing one another." Eliza said and Bruce nodded. "Come on let's go to the Batcave I need to discuss something with you and Alfred." Bruce said and Eliza nodded as she followed her father.
