III. Dead to Me

*Two years after Superman's Battle with Zod*

(Elizabeth is 27 years old now. This chapter is a flashback)

*****
It was a regular day at the Wayne house, after doing some stuff around the house and hanging out with her dad for a little while Eliza wanted to clear her mind off of some things. She went upstairs into her room and changed into a sports bra and and some yoga pants. Since there was a wide range of grass and trees Eliza had plenty of space to run around outside.

"Alfred I'm going to jog for a bit I'll be back." Eliza said as she pressed the green button on the intercom box as she spoke into it.

"Okay Eliza please be safe your father would kill me if anything were to happen to you." Alfred said. His voice boomed through the intercom box.

Eliza chuckled as she nodded into a security camera knowing Alfred was looking at them. Back at the room where Alfred was Bruce had came back from his duty as Batman and exited out of the Batmobile.

"Another successful mission sir. You caught the criminal once again. Although there is still one more mission to complete." Alfred informed.

Bruce removed his Batman mask and sighed.

"It's more complicated than I thought it would be. I'm going to need a lot more time than I expected." Bruce said.

"That's the key to completing your job. Time and patience." Alfred replied and Bruce nodded.

"Where is Eliza?" Bruce asked.

"She went out for a jog sir." Alfred said pointing to the surveillance footage.

Bruce observed for a moment as he saw her daughter running. As Eliza began running around the house, her thoughts of possible troubles were whisked away by the pounding of her heart, working hard and strong.

Slowing down to a jog once her throat began to dry and breathing became harder. She had ran already for an hour with a couple of breaks. She headed back to the house, into the kitchen and gulped down some water. Bruce walked into the kitchen. "Hey sweetie are you alright?" Bruce asked.

"Yeah dad just needed to take things off my mind." Eliza responded while looking out the window.

"Alright kiddo if you want to talk about it I'm here for you." Bruce replied and a smile formed on Eliza's face.

"Thanks dad." Eliza said as she hugged Bruce.

"Anytime princess, anytime." Bruce said holding her tight and smiling.

"Oh speaking of princesses, Lex Luthor invited us to his party and I was wondering if you would like to accompany me." Bruce said.

"Yeah of course dad I'd love to." Eliza replied, a smile forming on her face.

Mentally she was already picking what kind of dress she would wear. "So I guess you're my date." Dad said.

"Never expected my dad to be my date but hey I should have expected that since my dad is the Bruce Wayne." Eliza said chuckling and Bruce smiled.

The two were suddenly cut off when the doorbell rang. They walked together heading to see who it was. Alfred had already beat them to it though.

"Mr. Wayne, Eliza Ms. Jones would like to speak to you." Alfred said loosely, both father and daughter stood there shocked.

Bruce pushed Eliza behind him protectively "Let her in." Bruce said his voice suddenly changed from sweet and soft to cold and bitter.

Alfred walked away as Bruce, Eliza and Amber stood in a room.

"It's me. I'm Amber Jones. Your mother Eliza. Bruce...." Amber trailed out. She had long brown hair, she was skinny and was wearing high heels with a colorful dress.

"What do you want? What are you doing here?" Bruce asked coldly.

"After 15 years you finally show up. You have some guts." Eliza continued also responding coldly.

"I came to take you home with me." Amber replied trying to grab Eliza's arm but Bruce pushed Eliza back a little and Amber put her hand down.

"You left her on the doorsteps. You didn't want her, you decided to stay with your husband so don't come here with that crap saying you want her back. I'm not letting you take her away from me." Bruce said angrily.

"She is my daughter. I am her mother and I can do what I want." Amber responded.

"You stopped being my mother once you left me on the doorsteps. Dad has been through everything with me. My first steps, my first words, my first day of kindergarten, middle school and high school. But you, you never were there and I hate you because of that. You will never be my mother. You are dead to me!" Eliza exclaimed breaking down in tears.

Bruce embraced his daughter into a hug while rubbing her back. "I think it's best that you leave. Now!" Bruce exclaimed.

Amber looked at them both, her heels clicked as she walked out of the room, the door slammed shut as she left.
