I. Baby on the Doorstep

It was a dark gloomy day in Gotham, the rain was pouring harder than it ever was before. A young lady with beautiful long brown hair walked towards Wayne Manor. She held a baby close to her chest as she held onto an umbrella with her other hand. Once she reached the manor she set the baby on the steps inside a basket.

"Goodbye my little one." She said as she kissed the baby's forehead. She rang the doorbell and quickly walked away disappearing from the manor.

A butler opened the door, he moved his head around realizing there was no one there until he looked down and saw a baby in a basket.

"Oh my." Alfred said shocked as he brought the baby inside and closed the door.

"Who is it Alfred?" A male voice asked.

"Master Wayne it's a baby." Alfred replied.

Bruce immediately walked out of the room and stood next to Alfred.

"This is for you." Alfred said. He took the small envelope out of the baby's basket and handed it to Bruce.

It was a letter. Bruce read the letter out loud as Alfred heard.

Dear Bruce,

I'm Amber Jones. You might not remember me, but we met in a night club nine months ago. We were very drunk and I became pregnant with your daughter, her name is Elizabeth. Once you woke up after our one night stand I had already left because I knew if I was pregnant you wouldn't want anything to do with the baby and I. But now it doesn't matter. I can't take care of her anymore and it's your turn. I have a husband now, I have moved on. We don't need a baby in our lives. Do not try to find me. Please take care of Eliza you're the only one that can.

Sincerely,

Amber

After reading the note Bruce became angry. Not with Eliza but with Amber.

How could a mother dump their child to be with their new husband?

How could she abandon her only daughter?

How could she not tell him about Eliza?

Did she even care about her?

Why would Amber do this?

"Mr. Wayne would you like me to put her up for adoption?" Alfred asked with sadness in his voice.

"No Alfred she's my little girl. My own flesh and blood. Her mother might be an inconsiderate bitch with no heart but it isn't Eliza's fault. Please prepare a room for our newest guest." Bruce said smiling at the baby girl.

"Right away sir. May I assume the room will be next to yours?" Alfred asked.

"Yes Alfred you assumed correctly." Bruce smiled. Alfred walked away and Bruce picked up the small child.

"Don't worry Eliza I'll always be here for you and I will never let anyone hurt you or take you away from me. I will protect you with my life. I love you princess." Bruce said planting a kiss on Eliza's forehead.

Bruce noticed the baby's resemblance to him. She had all his features down to the smallest one. Especially her beautiful big brown eyes except her hair, it was brown just like her mothers.

Other than that Bruce already was in love with his daughter. A couple of hours passed and Bruce had bought every single thing a baby could need. Diapers, clothes, foods, baby furniture and toys. After Bruce had fed, changed and gave Eliza a bath he put her to sleep. Bruce layed Eliza inside her crib gently. He stood over the crib watching her tiny chest rise up and down as she slept. From that moment he knew that baby girl would bring him a lot of happiness. Something that he needed.
