Chapter 5

"I told you already. That's my story and I'm sticking to it." I don't know why I lied knowing good and well he knew I wasn't telling the truth.

"Dammit Danae, you drive me nuts" he said while slamming his fist onto the table causing everybody to look our direction. He got up out of his side of the booth walking over to mine, and he picked me up, AGAIN, into a fireman's carry walking out of Waffle House. Nobody seemed to care that a very large man was carrying me out of a breakfast restaurant. As we reached the car, he put me in the passenger seat this time not buckling me up. Dwayne got in on his side of the car and sat in silence for what felt like an eternity before he finally said,

"Look Danae, I'm sorry for yelling at you in there, but can you please tell me the truth. Honesty is all I ask."

"You don't know me Dwayne, I don't have to tell you shit."

He took a deep breath before he calmly said, "Exactly, I don't know you, so let me get to know you."

"I don't have a home, okay? THERE I said it! Happy now?"

He looked at me truly stunned and/or confused. I could tell he wanted to ask questions but he avoided it. After a few moments of silence, he started to back out of the parking lot

"Where are we going, I told you I have nowhere to go."

Nothing.

"The silent treatment isn't cool Dwayne."

Nothing.

After awhile of driving we start pulling up into this secluded neighborhood overlooking the mountains. Eventually, we pulled into the driveway of a very gorgeous home.

"Get out." He murmured.

I followed him to the doorstep still confused but not wanting to ask any questions.

"This is where you will be staying until you find a home Nae."

"I'm sorry what?" I said confused.

"I didn't stutter."

I followed him into the living room sitting on the red accented arm chair as he sat on the white sofa. I looked around taking in all of my surroundings. Man was this house beautiful. Not to mention the man was beautiful also.

"Dwayne now that I've answered one of your questions, it's your turn to answer mine." I said breaking one of the many awkward moments we had.

"Okay, fair enough." That was the first thing he said to me since our hour and a half drive up here.

"I'm just some girl you decided to help out. Why are you doing all of this stuff for me even though I've been nothing but a bitch to you?"

"I can't really tell you Nae. I don't know there is just something about you that makes it impossible for me to leave you alone."

"What is that supposed to mean." I said

"Come sit next to me. I feel like I'm screaming just to talk to you."

I got up out of the chair and sat directly next to him. He scooted very intimately close to me. He leaned his face towards mine, brushing his lips on my cheek before getting right next to my ear.

"You're like a bad habit I don't want to get rid of."

He words sent shivers down my spine. Before I could say anything, his lips were locked with mine. I wanted to stop because I knew it was wrong, but I just couldn't.
