I didn't say anything back. I suppose he took my silence as a yes because he flashed his very charming smile showcasing his gorgeous teeth and said,

"Good, now we can go."

As he began backing out of the hospital parking lot he asked the question I had been dreading the whole morning.

"So Nae, where we headed?"

I hesitated trying to think of something and somewhere that would be believable enough for him to not have any questions.

"I.. um... you can just drop me off at Motel 6." Ugh I knew I fucked up.

"Why Motel 6? I'm supposed to be taking you home."

C'mon think fast Danae. Think. THINK.

"I uh have some family members in town that I want to see." NAILED IT!

"Really? Is that so?"

Okay maybe I didn't nail it.

"Yeah haven't seen them in YEARS."

That same terrifyingly intimidating look came across his face. He knew I was lying. He jerked the car to the left making a U-turn into the Waffle House. I had no clue what was going on. He furiously began to march over to the passenger door to open it. He held out his hand in front of me. I just looked at it not sure what was happening

"For gods sake just give me your got damn hand Danae!"

I lightly placed my hand into his as he slowly pulled me out of the car. I followed him into Waffle House trying to keep up with his long strides. He walked in and sat at the farthest booth away from the door. He motioned his hand to the seat directly across from him, so I sat down.

"Danae what's going on, why haven't you been telling me the truth? And don't fucking lie."

As I opened my mouth to speak my stomach growled like a Beluga Whale. Of course it would. Dwayne looked at me apprehensively.

"Are you hungry?" He asked

"No I'm fine, I'll just eat with my family at the hotel." I responded

"Cut the bullshit Nae I know you don't have family in town."

With that he got up and walked to the bar and waited leaving me alone. After about 5 minutes he came back with a plate full of delicious looking breakfast food.

"I don't have money to pay you back Dwayne, I can't take this."

"Screw the money. Eat." He said very directly

After I took the first bite, I forgot he was there and pigged the whole thing down in less than 5 minutes. As I was wiping my mouth I saw him looking at me with an unreadable emotion. Embarrassed, I apologized for the barbarism he had to witness. He smirked leaving me confused since he hadn't smiled for about 2 hours.

"Anyways now that you have a full stomach, tell me Nae what's actually going on."
