Chapter 2

While still standing at the door, we stared at each other for what felt like an eternity when in reality it was only about a few seconds.

Breaking the silence, he said, "So Danae.. it is Danae right?"

"Yes Mr. Johnson"

While on his way to the chair next to my hospital bed he said "Please never call me that again. Just Dwayne is fine"

"O-okay Dwayne" I said very reluctantly still not knowing why Dwayne Johnson was in my hospital room

"So how you feeling Danae"

"Fine. Thanks."

"Oh and jus-" I cut him off

"Why are you here Dwayne" I said in a soft yet firm tone

"Um well if you must know Danae, I was the only person on the road when you were hit"

I thought for a second wondering what him being on the road had to do with him being here. I guess he read the confusion on my face because he began to elaborate.

"The car hit you and drove away leaving you and your car in the middle of the road, so I decided to get you out of the car and make sure you were still alive."

"With all do respect Mr. Johnson-"

"I said don't call me that" he said in an almost intimidating voice.

"Right. Sorry Dwayne that still doesn't answer why you're here"

He went from looking into my eyes to staring at the ground as he began to speak.

"I noticed your face was damp with what was obviously tears and decided I wanted to check on you and make sure you were okay."

I didn't know how to feel or what to take from that statement. After he noticed I didn't say anything back he looked back up at me studying my face and reached in his pocket.

"Well uh here's your phone Danae"

"Thanks, but why did yo-"

"Hey listen I gotta get going my wife's waiting for me at home"

And with that he walked out leaving me with a heap of unanswered questions.

That night around 9pm my phone rang about 3 times with an unknown number. On the 4th ring, I decided to pick up because whoever it was wanted me to answer, clearly.

"..hello"

"Hey Danae, it's me Dwayne!"

"Hi. If you don't mind me asking, how did you get my number?"

"I had your phone remember. And you should try out a password for your phone by the way."

"Right.."

"Anyways the doctors told me tomorrow would be the last day you would have to stay there."

"And?"

"I'm taking you home. In case you haven't noticed, you kind of don't have a car."

"I can take a taxi Dwayne, seriously it's no problem"

"I'm coming tomorrow morning and that's final."

"But I-"

I was cut off by the sound of the phone hanging up. I truly didn't understand why THE Dwayne Johnson cared so much about my well being. And I don't know how I'm going to tell a millionaire that I don't have a home.
