Chapter Four

Hawks was partly thankful Dabi couldn't stick around however, upon opening his bedroom door, he had half-expected to see the villain dropped over the couch. To the hero's surprise, the dark-haired villain was nowhere to be seen. However, what grabbed his attention was the state of his apartment. The pillows that were previously scattered around the room were now back in their arranged places. The cabinets and drawers in the kitchen were no longer open. Even the lights were switched off!

Hawks scoffed at his apartment's appearance. Had Dabi really gone through the effort to fix up his apartment again?

Suddenly, a voice sounded from the darkness within his apartment. "I wouldn't just leave without fixing the mess I made." The voice was close, close enough to touch even. Hawks knew the voice belonged to the dark-haired villain nevertheless, it still surprised him.

"I'm surprised you'd be that considerate," Hawks truthfully admitted. Unlike the other night, Hawks was unable to find the figure the voice belonged to.

A low raspy laugh, one that Hawks came to realize was a signature of Dabi's, came from the villain. "Not considerate," he corrected the hero.

The blond could only roll his eyes in response, despite knowing it would be invisible to the dark-haired villain. "Of course, my mistake," Hawks said sarcastically.

Dabi quietly huffed a laugh through his nose sending an ever-so-slight wave of chills over the blond's skin.

Just as Hawks was beginning to relax Dabi spoke. "I think I might take you up on your offer to stay the night on the couch." The dark-haired villain's figure began to appear from the darkness as he slowly walked toward the blond.

"What happened to reporting your meeting?" Hawks questioned, his eyes now fixated on the slowly appearing villain.

"We haven't exactly had our meeting yet, pigeon," Dabi said. Hawks was now able to better make out Dabi's figure. The lights within the apartment may have been off but it was the city's lights that peered through the window wall behind Hawks that illuminated the dark-haired villain's features.

Silence fell between the two, partly because Hawks was too busy scanning Dabi's illuminated features. It was until he caught himself did he blurt out, "We can meet now."

Hawks mentally punched himself in the face for proposing such a thing this late at night. He had a job to do in the morning however, infiltrating the Leauge was a part of his job too. The blond shook the tired thoughts out of his head and made way for the villain.

Dabi, who was now in his bedroom, sat down on the end of his bed, leaning back on his hands. Hawks shut the door and stood a comfortable distance away from the dark-haired villain.

Dabi threw his head back and stared at the ceiling before starting. "So it seems that the League is willing to provide another opportunity for you to prove your loyalty to not only the League but the whole anti-establishment cause."

Hawks was aware of the position he was in with the League, thanks to Dabi. If only the dark-haired villain didn't go back on his word and released the Nomu attack a day early.

"This time we're asking for someone besides the number one hero," Dabi said, turning his gaze back onto the blond. "-to demonstrate your dedication to taking down the system of course."

Hawks understood what he meant and replied curtly. "Understood."

A moment passed and the villain turned his gaze back onto the ceiling however, Hawks remained staring at the dark-haired villain. For a moment it looked as if he wanted to say something before closing his lips and letting out a deep breath through his nose.

"Do you want to know why I joined the League of Villains?" Dabi finally let out, his eyes focused on the ceiling.

Surprised by the sudden question, Hawks shifted nervously. "Are you sure you trust me with that information?" The hero half-heartedly joked.

Hawks's choice of words must have prodded the villain's mood when he curtly replied, "Information such as this isn't valuable, so, no."

Information such as that isn't valuable? Hawks couldn't tell if Dabi was being serious or if he was hiding something. Either way, such pertinent information could potentially prove beneficial to lowering villain rates going forward. Plus, what brought Dabi to the League piqued Hawks's interest.

"Alright, then yeah, I want to know why you joined the League of Villains."
