Chapter 28

What do you guys think is a weird place to have sex?

My answer: an elementary school

I'm a sick human being, I know.

***

Beneath every strong woman, lies a broken little girl, who was always too scared to get back up, and fight back.

That girl used to be me. I remember being too scared to stand up for myself. I remember letting people walk all over me, and taking every punch they threw at me.

I'm done. And I've been done for awhile.

I've been through more shit than most. I've overcome those horrors that used to make me feel so broken. I've been a garbage can for everyone's shit, but I'm done now.

It's amazing to see how far I've come. I went from that silly little girl, who never fought back, to a strong woman who will burn everything.

I used to be the gasoline, that instrument used to create fires, the thing that burned up and evaporated into the air and disappeared as though it was never there.

Now I'm the fire, and I swear to god, I will burn everything in my path.

I stormed out of the dining hall, my hands grasping the pistol at my side. My fingers twitched as my hands gripped the gun with rage.

"Calla!" I heard Sinisters voice call out from behind me, I turned around to see him and Afanas running after me.

I didn't say anything. I made my way up the stairs, my hands turning white as they gripped the gun.

I felt Sinister's hand wrap around my arm as he pulled me to a stop.

I expected him to look mad, or confused. After all, I did just threaten his father and brother. Instead, his eyes were filled with complete admiration.

It was the kind of look you'd never expect to see from a Russian Mob boss.

"What?" I asked, my hands still twitching by my side.

"That was...amazing." He said softly.

"Yeah it was fucking terrific, but I think we should probably leave now. Your dad and brother are going to want to kill us after that. I'll grab Rachel." Afanas said.

"Where is she anyways? She didn't come down." I asked.

Afanas shrugged, "When I found out Luka was here, I locked her in the bedroom." He brushed past me, sprinting up the steps two-at-a-time.

I followed him up the stairs, ignoring Sinister as he called after me.

I ran into the bedroom, throwing all of my stuff into my bag.

The door slammed, and Sinister crossed the room in 3 long strides. He put his hand on my shoulder.

"Cal, we really need to talk about what happened." His brows furrowed as he glanced at me.

I shrugged him off, "we will. Let's just get the fuck outta here first."

He nodded, following my lead and throwing his stuff together. The door to his room burst open, and Rachel and Afanas walked in.

"I didn't get any fucking food." Rachel pouted. She looked all ready for dinner, she wore a black dress, her chocolate brown locks were tied together in a long braid. Her emerald green eyes were wide with confusion as she watched Sinister packing furiously.

"You'll get food later." Afanas muttered, "Let's just get out of here."

Sinister nodded, sliding two glock pistols into his jacket pocket, and held another in his hand.

He scribbled something down on a sheet of paper, his hands shaking furiously.

"For Sasha and my mother." He explained, nodding to Afanas as we made our way out of the room.

"Stay close to me, Cal." Sinister said softly, holding my hand in his.

We made our way down the main stair case, the house was still and quiet. It felt weird.

We walked through the dimly lit halls, the only things to be heard was the sound of our shoes hitting the marbled floors.

We were almost at the front door, when a voice called out.

"Wait!" Koda yelled, running from a hallway towards us.

Sinister and Afanas held up their guns, and Koda raised his hands.

"I'm not armed. I want to come with you." He said slowly, pulling back his jacket to show he had no gun.

They still held up their weapons.

"No." Sinister said sternly "Just us. Not you."

Koda's face fell, "Are you kidding me? I'll just hitch a ride with you guys and I'll be on my way. Don't leave me here with these psychos."

"Where's Max?" Sinister questioned.

Koda shrugged, "Hell if I know. That bastard will always be loyal to your father."

Afanas nudged Sinister, whispering something to him.

Sinisters icy eyes glanced around the house before nodding quickly, "Fine. You leave as soon as we're far enough away."

Koda smiled, flashing me a wink before he sprinted outside.

I felt uneasy.

Sinister squeezed my hand before leading us out of the house.

Outside was dark, the cool air stung my cheeks. My heart was racing inside my chest as I looked around for a car.

There was nothing.

Sinister cursed under his breath, "I have an idea. Stay here, I'll be right back." He kissed my cheek, before sprinting behind the house.

Afanas held Rachel in his arms, whispering to her. He was probably consoling her, she had no idea what was going on and was definitely scared as hell.

Koda, on the other hand, looked completely unfazed, he grinned at me with a cocky smile.

"So you're the mafia queen, huh?" He asked, his white hair glowing in the night sky.

"I'm Sinisters wife." I said quietly, looking back at the house.

It was something out of a horror movie. I half expected a corpse bride to appear in one of the windows or something, but the house was completely quiet.

"Same thing." Koda said quietly, watching my scared expression with humor.

I ignored him, pulling crossing my bare arms over my chest, goosebumps covered my skin as I shivered.

"Want my jacket? It's nice and warm." Koda grinned, his eyes scanning me up and down.

I tapped the gun in my hand, my eyes leveling with him, "No." I said plainly.

He followed my movement, staring at the gun, and then back at me.

"You're a little feistier than I expected." He smiled steadily, his eyes moving from my eyes to the gun in my hands.

"And you're just as incompetent as I thought." I shot back.

It probably wasn't a smart move. This man was at least triple my size. Towering over me with immense height, with biceps that were bigger than my head.

He opened his mouth to respond, when a car squealed infront of us.

Sinister sat in the front seat, "Get in." He ordered, his hands tapping at the steering wheel impatiently.

It was a small car, it looked sporty and expensive. The window to the drivers seat was shattered, and it looked like Sinister had hotwired it.

"You gotta teach me how to do that." I said as I sat in the passenger seat, Rachel, Afanas, and Koda in the back.

The tires screeched, as the car peeled away. Sinisters foot slammed the accelerator to the ground as we sped off, the car barreling down the driveway like a bullet.

I expected there to be gunshots. I expected something, someone, to stop us. But there was nothing. Only the dark silence of the house.

"Can someone tell me what the fuck is going on before I literally attack something." Rachel called out, her face flushed as Afanas held her hand.

"My deranged brother, Luka, decided to show up." Sinister said lowly, the speedometer reaching 100 mph as we reached the end of the driveway and pulled out onto a main road.

"What??" Rachels face morphed into shock.

"And my father was somehow okay with it. They were talking like me being with Calla, has emotionally compromised me." Sinister shook his head in disbelief as he cut off a car.

The blaring sounds of a horn filled my ears.

"So what?" Rachel scoffed "They're trying to get you to, like, divorce Calla?"

Sinisters fingers tapped the wheel impatiently as he pulled onto the high way.

"Something like that." He said quietly.

I could tell he was deep in thought. His eyebrows always raised when he was thinking about something, his eyes were plastered to the road.

"Who the fuck are you?" Rachel asked, turning to Koda who hadn't stopped smiling since we left the house.

"Sinsters cousin, doll face. Who are you?"

"Don't talk to me. I just decided that I don't like you." She muttered, leaning into Afanas and closing her eyes.

"That seemed too easy." Afanas said slowly, looking out the window as Sinister pulled onto a highway, the speedometer going above 115 mph.

"That's what I was thinking." Sinister replied, his fingers continuing to tap impatiently.

"Well" Koda cleared his throat "your dads old and your brother is dumb. That should explain everything."

I didn't like Koda, granted, I just met the guy. But there was something completley off about him. Maybe it was because he seemed totally causal about the situation, or maybe it was that stupid grin that seemed to be stained to his face.

I couldn't bring myself to trust those steel colored eyes. Or maybe it was because of the word PUSSY that permanently tattooed to his neck.

The car ride was silent, Rachel passed out in Afanas's arms, his eyes were closed as he rested his head on hers.

Sinisters fathers words kept ringing in my head.

"Your husband killed your parents."

I was never close with my parents. I never knew what they did for a living. My mother was never the kind, consoling type. My father was always working.

When kids are young, they're always taught to love their parents. Because your parents raised you, fed you, clothed you, and that's the way things are.

My parents hired nannies to raise their kids.

A parents job, is to raise their kids the right way. Get them ready for the outside world when they're all grown up.

My parents never did that.

The only advice my mother gave me, was to marry rich and stay thin. Pretty shitty advice to give a 10 year old.

The day they died was like every other. It's like hearing about someone dying on the news, you feel sad, maybe pray a little, but you keep living your life. The only thing that changed, was that our nanny stayed overnight with us. It stayed like that for a long time, until Illeya turned 18 and sent me to an all girls boarding school, until I turned 16 and dropped out. After that, I used the money my parents left me and moved to New York. When I moved to New York, I met Brie. She was a few years older than me, and offered me a place to stay. I worked at a clothing store, saved up my money, and took classes online to finish up high school.

I've had a pretty fucked up life. I don't mourn my parents death, because I never really knew them. I've been on my own my entire life, and I never really had a lot to live for. People always wish for things like money, or clothes, or jewlrey. But all I've ever wanted was someone to love.

On my 18th birthday, I went to a club and got kidnapped by the Russian Mafia.

I know it sounds weird, but my life got better after that. I wouldn't change what happened to me that night at the club, because then I wouldn't have the only thing I always wanted: Someone to love.

I reached across the seat, holding Sinisters hand in mine.

His icy eyes flashed over to mine, and he gave my hand a tight squeeze.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked softly

You know how when you're little, you have a favorite blanket or stuffed animal? And you need it with you, because it makes you feel safe, and it scares all the monsters away?

That's what Sinister was. He was the stuffed animal that my parents never gave me. He was that blanket that kept me warm.

I had spent so many years, dreaming about the guy who would save me from my nightmares. That knight in shining armor, who would save me from the tower.

But that tower was my life, and I let myself fall with eyes closed shut, and land in the arms of that knight.

But he wasn't a knight in shining armor at all, he was a Russian Mobster.

I closed my eyes tightly, holding onto his hand for dear life

"I have waited all my life to find someone like you." I whispered.
