I felt the cool metal of the Beretta pistol sting my thigh. Sinister was being justifiably over protective at the moment, and handed me a thigh holster and a pistol.

"I'm right here, Cal. I won't let anything happen to you baby." He kissed the top of my head, holding my hand in his, as he brushed his thumb across my wedding ring.

I nodded, swallowing the fear that crept into my throat.

He gave me one last squeeze, before opening the doors to the dining hall.

Everyone was seated, conversing quietly with each other as if Luka wasn't a problem. Sasha and her mother were seated next to Sinisters father. Koda and Max talked quietly, sitting across from them. And Afanas sat next to Luka, his eyes staring daggers at him.

He looked like he was ready to shoot him. Sinister was no different, his hand tightened around mine as he made his way to the only 2 free seats at the table; next to Luka.

Luka stood, his eyes glinted mischievously as he motioned to the seat next to him.

"Calla, would you care to sit next to me?" His voice dripping with false sincerity.

"Nope." I retorted. As if it was my choice, Sinister's hand guided me, avoiding the seat next to Luka.

Fancy looking meals were already set out, it looked like meat and vegetables, but I wasn't hungry. That's how you know you're in deep shit; when you can't eat.

"Sinister, I'm so glad you and Ms. Levkin have decided to join us." Sinisters father spoke.

"Velkov, you mean." Sinister corrected, his face stone.

His father didn't say anything, instead he ate quietly.

"Luka I didn't even know you were here, it's been so damn long since I've seen you!" Sasha smiled, her platinum blonde hair fell down her frame in perfect ringlets. Her painted red lips forming into a smile as she addressed Luka. Almost as if she didn't know what he did to her father.

Maybe she doesn't know.

I glanced up at Sinister, but he shook his head slightly.

This family is so fucked up.

"I know, Sasha. I've been just soo busy running my own organization, as I'm sure you're well aware." His voice was smooth, and convincing. But his eyes were like snakes.

Sinister's mother looked uncomfortable, her kind features were replaced with a frown. Luka's visit had been a surprise to her too.

"So, Mrs. Levkin, tell me about yourself. What're your parents like?" Sinisters father asked, chewing slowly on his food as he watched my every move.

All eyes on the table turned to me and I cleared my throat uncomfterably.

"My, uh, parents died when I was young...and I don't talk to my brother anymore." My voice was soft and quiet, but the room was silent. You could hear a pin drop.

"I'm so sorry for your lo-" Katya mother started, but Sinisters father cut her off.

"How did they die?" He asked.

Sinisters mother looked shocked, "don't ask her that!" She whisper-yelled, her face flushing red with embarrassment.

Sinisters father looked unfazed as he waited for me to answer.

"Um, the police reports said a shooting...that's all I know."

He got this sickly, pleased look on his wrinkled face.

"Ms. Levkin...I know how they really died, would you care to know?"

Sinister raised his hand, "father, stop."

My eyes went wide. Luka's smirk grew, and Sinisters father looked content with my shocked expression.

Sinister held my hand in his, I felt the coolness of his wedding band graze my knuckles.

"No, thank you. I stopped searching for answers long ago, and I don't care to bring up the past." My voice was a little stronger this time.

My parents died when I was 12, and the police didn't give me many answers about it. They only said it was "an unfortunate occurrence." and that was it. I never asked, because I never wanted to know. Nothing's changed, I still don't want to know.

"I think she wants to know." Luka piped up, knocking back a glass of wine.

"No she fucking doesn't you sociopath." Afanas muttered, pulling out a cigarette.

Luka only smirked at his response, and Sinisters father looked like he wanted to say more.

Koda and Max remained quiet, their eyes following the conversation.

"Katya, maybe you and Sasha should leave." Sinisters father said quietly.

Katya looked like she wanted to talk back, to defy him and tell him to stop. But one look into his ink black eyes and she stopped herself, and grabbed Sashas hand as she stood.

"But I haven't even finished..." Sasha protested while her mother pulled her out of the room.

Sinisters hand tightened around mine, and suddenly I became much more scared. The only kind, loving people in the room just left.

"Ms. Levkin, we have a very simple way of doing business" Sinisters father began "we do the things that others will not, and we do these things to make money and evoke fear. Relationships in my family, as far I'm concerned, run the same way. We fuck until we have a child, in which can run the business. We don't fuck for love, or romance, we fuck for ourselves. And that's it. I married Katya out of convenience, we had Sinister as an obligation, Luka was a backup, and Sasha was a mistake."

he continued, "Sinister was something I was very proud of. An emotionless killer who did exactly what he was born to do. But you, my dear child, have hindered his responsibilities. I want you gone."

I felt the fear rising in my throat like bile, as I processed his words.

Sinister finally spoke

"You cannot tell my wife, or myself, what to do, father. You were in charge a very long time, but things are different now. I run the Mafia. I own the Mafia. As far as anyone is concerned, you're a crippled old man, with nothing to live for." Sinister spat, releasing my hand to clench his fists in anger.

His father brushed his words off with a laugh, and his eyes trained on me.

"Calla, love, let me tell you exactly how your beloved parents died." He growled.

Sinister shook his head, "Shut the fuck up. You have no idea what you're talking about."

"Your husband, killed them." He spat, his eyes waiting for me to react.w

"No I didn't!" Sinister roared, "the things my men do, have NOTHING to do with my orders, and you KNOW that!!"

My face remained still. I couldn't think. I couldn't process what he was saying to me. So for the first time in my life, I decided to act logically.

That was 6 years ago, long before I ever knew Sinister. I knew he killed people, I knew he did what he had to do, to fulfill his unwinnable role as his fathers son.

I can't think about this right now. I can't give these men the satisfaction of seeing my cry and yell at my husband.

I won't let them win.

So I shrugged, "what's your point?"

I put up a massive wall, to prevent my emotions of getting the best of me. I will not let them have the satisfaction.

I will not let them win.

Luka and Sinister looked taken aback. I knew they expected me to bawl, and scream at Sinister, and tell him I hated him.

But the truth was, Sinister was the only one that had ever been there for me. My mother and father were never around. I didn't even know them that well. I didn't know what they did for a living, I didn't know who they were.

Sinister stared down at me, his eyes were wide with surprise.

"I'm going to go now. I'm leaving this fucking prison that you psychopath's like to call home. I don't care if you fucking gave birth to the mafia out of your fucking vagina, you do not scare me. I'm not scared of monsters, because guess what? I'm not fucking 12 anymore. And if you, or Luka, try to follow me, or get in the way of my love life, I will put a bullet through your fucking skull, and burn this prison to the ground. Don't underestimate me." I growled, my voice shattering the silence of the room.

"Ms. Levkin!" Sinisters father shouted as I stood up.

I pulled my gun out, pointing it at him.

"It's Mrs. Velkov, you useless human. And don't you ever forget that."
