Yamaguchi Tadashi

A/N: I took inspiration from an anime entitled; 'My Love Story!!', which is basically the most wholehearted, romance anime that I've ever binged on.

"Confessions"

---------------

Yamaguchi let out a hopeless sigh as he plopped himself down Tsukishima's bed, a mist of depression clouding his entire physique.

"It's no use Tsukki!" He cried out in frustration. "I know that she wants you, so why does she even bother getting close to me?" Yamaguchi wondered out loud, much to the megane's irritation.

Tsukishima rolled his eyes at his freckle-faced friend, "That's because she likes you. Jeez, can't anything get through that thick skull?" The blond-haired boy mumbled that last part to himself, turning back to his studies.

"But Tsukki!" Yamaguchi protested, "I wouldn't be surprised if she intended to get information about you, from me. I mean-- that's usually the technique most of the girls you rejected pulled on me."

"(l/n)-San does not like me." Tsukishima points out once more, yet to no avail, as with his previous attempts to convince his anxious friend.

The same conversation went around like a volleyball being tossed back and fourth over the net, until the faint knocking upon the wooden material of Tsukishima's door cut through the two friends' discussion.

"Uhm... Tsukishima-San..."

"It's her!" Yamaguchi whisper-yelled, as if he didn't plan on letting her know that he was here as well. This presented a brilliant idea to Tsukishima's equally as brilliant mind.

The taller male instantly pointed to his dresser, "Climb in." He orders, so suddenly that it brought confusion to paint over Yamaguchi's face.

"Eh--" He was about to decline but Tsukishima's face brought a feeling of reassurance to wash over him, and so he went, into the dresser, wondering whatever in the hell his friend had in mind.

Darkness enveloped his perception the moment the doors to the dresser were shut by Tsukishima himself. The tall male had gotten up to answer the door, welcoming the troubled damsel inside his bedroom.

"(l/n)-San, what seems to be the problem?" Tsukishima asks in a softer tone. He always had an odd way of speaking to her. Tsukishima was undeniably the stingiest individual out of everyone in Karasuno, always belittling others-- even sometimes Yamaguchi.

However, he seemed to have developed a soft spot for the (h/c)-haired female, and though Yamaguchi misconceived it as the first step to Tsukishima and (y/n)'s relationship, it was really only due to the immense amount of respect the blond had for the female.

Most girls, when interested in Tsukishima, would often talk ill of his best friend, regardless of whether or not Tsukishima's presence was involved.

They would belittle Yamaguchi and had no speck of interest in his feelings or opinions. And this got under the blond's skin, he'd immediately discard of those two-faced harlots and continue on with his day.

(y/n) was different though. The moment she laid eyes on Yamaguchi, preferably during the match he played in with Aoba Johsai as a pinch server, she was taken by the male's determination despite being labelled as a scaredy-cat at first by her friends.

It was only after their match with Shiratorizawa, that the girl approached them with a basket full of pastries she baked herself, offering it towards them with a blush dusting her cheeks and an angelic smile.

Long story short, it sent an arrow to pierce through Yamaguchi's fragile little heart. An arrow shot to kill, not literally, this just means he's absolutely head over heels of (y/n). But then again, his insecure self couldn't imagine you ever returning his feelings even though you felt them first.

"I-I don't think he'd e-ever like me..." You murmured, audible enough for Yamaguchi to hear through the other side of the dresser though.

His eyes shot wide open, so you didn't like Tsukishima?

Then who was this person?

"What makes you say that (l/n)-San?" Tsukishima's bored vocals questioned, though he already knew the answer to his own question, he wanted Yamaguchi to hear it from you.

This question urged Yamaguchi to take a peek through a small crack in the dresser's interior. There you were, elegantly sitting on Tsukishima's bed, precisely the spot where he had sulked on that he was convinced you felt his warmth.

The thought brought a blush to his cheeks, he almost slapped himself then remembered he was trying to be secretive for whatever reason that was beyond his stubborn head.

"Whenever I try to suggest some hints... He keeps pushing the topics onto you!" You sniffled helplessly, it was then brought to his attention that you were lightly sobbing, which squeezed his heart so much, because he wanted to comfort you badly.

Now that he took in your facial features, streaks of tears were going down your face, and you were practically slaving to rub them off but the waterworks kept coming.

Tsukishima, noticing Yamaguchi's irises through the dresser, decided it was time for the game-changing question.

"(l/n)-San... Just how much do you love him?" Tsukishima raised a question, causing (y/n) to shy away, face beet-red.

Was Tsukishima planning to break his heart? Yamaguchi definitely could not bear for Tsukishima to be with the crush of his life, what more agony could he feel if it were someone else?

"I love him with all my-- no, to the moon and back-- wait, to the entire universe back until the atoms of our existence!" (y/n) boldly proclaims, squeezing her eyes shut as she confessed.

Yamaguchi's eyes were as wide as saucers, he didn't know how to comprehend the on-going situation.

"Then shout it loud." Tsukishima urged, "Confess your feelings as if he was here." Which he was, in all honesty, but what you didn't know won't hurt you.

"Yamaguchi Tadashi-Kun! I love you with every fiber of my being! It sucks knowing that you don't feel the same way!" By the time you finished shouting at the top of your lungs, you were out of breath and very flushed.

And that, was the moment...

Yamaguchi lost control.

He bursts out of the dresser like a madman craving his indecencies, running at you full-speed, only to press you up against the wall and trapping you with both hands at the side of your head.

At this you yelped, falling back and retreating more onto the cold surface behind you as if you could any more.

"I'll take my business elsewhere." Tsukishima stands up from his desk, stepping off to the exit of his bedroom. "W-Wait! T-Tsukishima-San how mean! You set me up!" You shouted, averting your gaze from Yamaguchi's.

Tsukishima let out a sigh, "I know. But I left it to you to get the point through his head, he won't take it from me." He explains, justifying his actions before he left the room to the of you.

The sound of yours and Yamaguchi's heavy breathing was the only melody that could be heard in the room. 'Course you stayed in the same position as before Tsukishima's departure, but now you didn't know what was running through the dark-haired male's thoughts.

"Y-Yamaguchi-San..." You squeaked, face unbearably in close proximity with his as his serious orbs stared you down.

"You like-- love me?" He muttered in disbelief.

You looked down, only for your eyes to be connected with the support of one of his hands. You swore you were already on the verge of fainting.

"Y-Y-Yes!" You whimpered, unable to bear the distance, his lips were practically brushing against yours for heaven's sake!

A few moments later Yamaguchi withdrew, expression blank, sending a wave of worry and regret to engulf you.

"I understand that you don't--" You stood up to leave, eyes already teary due to the overwhelming array of emotions from the last predicaments you were carelessly shoved upon like a ragdoll, but Yamaguchi's hand shot out just as you were dismissing yourself.

He pulled you into a hug, a tight one, but your body snuggled up perfectly against his. Both of his hands around the level of your neck and shoulders as his chin rested on top of your head.

Yamaguchi's lips quivered but he mustered up the right amount of courage to express how he felt. "I'm sorry I failed to recognize them sooner... Had it not for Tsukki scheme, I was convinced that you had eyes for him..." Yamaguchi says, taking unstable breaths.

"I love you to (l/n)-San! And I'd like for you to go out with me! Let me make up for earlier!" He bowed, on all fours and forehead on the ground, causing you to panic.

"No! I mean y-yes! Please just stand, it doesn't bother me-- really!" You reassured, laughing nervously. But Yamaguchi, as per usual, did not take your words to mind and continued pestering you until you straight-up requested for him to shut up.

Unbeknownst to you, Tsukishima was eavesdropping on the other side of the door, just making sure nothing too intimate happened between the two of you, though he doubt Yamaguchi had the balls to do that yet.

"Alls well that ends well in my book. Let's see how long they'd last." He said to himself, chuckling mischievously.
