"Silly Superstitions"

---------------

An hour before the wedding...

Weddings, ideally, were events that occurred only once in a lifetime. It wouldn't be an understatement to say that the sequences leading up to the ceremony were less stable than after it.

Akaashi felt his anxiety bubbling up, he had been fiddling with his fingers for the uptenth time since this morning. He had not seen you since last night since you were whisked away by your girl friends to a lavish spa where you'd be pampered, as per his request of course. However your absence was still affecting him greatly. Unwanted thoughts of something going wrong threatening his composure by the minute.

'Maybe she's not ready... After all, before we dated, she made it clear that she wasn't one for commitment...' He bit his lip to keep himself from frowning, a habit he developed between your period of dating. After you accepted his confession, he found himself smiling more and wanting to stop himself from frowning so idly.

Wanting to save face, especially from the over-ecstatic owl-man and equally-temperamental hyena, amongst other groomsmen, Akaashi took to the balcony of the groom's lounge to recollect himself.

The ravenette leaned against the railings of the balcony, his eyes trailing the surface of the sky with no particular objective but to ease some peace of mind into him.

He longed to see you as soon as possible, to have you run into his arms and celebrate the onset of a new chapter of your lives together. How he would love to wake up every morning and find you next to him, to see the amusing expressions you made when you slept. He also looked forward to the nights you'd spend against each other.

Akaashi let out a dazed sigh, the thought of being with you for the rest of his life had certainly calmed him. He knew that you would keep his mind off of these silly superstitio--

Yet there was one thing he foolishly overlooked.

That you were also getting ready just rooms away from him.

"(friend's name)! Over here too!" The shutters of a camera followed after the voice, and it caused Akaashi's heart to skip a beat. He couldn't control his gaze as it wanders over to the balcony on the upper-right of him.

It was his (y/n), so beautiful-- almost ethereal that he, for a moment, forgot to breathe.

Just like that, seeing you beaming with the radiance that rivaled the most beautiful of all deities, the ravenette had cast aside every single detail concerning him and embedded into his mind that this day was for the two of you, and no way in hell would he allow things not to go the way you wanted.

From this point on, his priorities lie first with you, so long as you kept your smile, he was willing to sacrifice anything.

However...

In his mind a distant cackle resonated and he flashed back to his previous exchange with Kuroo.

"Listen, the reason why they 'kidnapped' your precious (y/n) is because it's bad luck to see your bride before the ceremony. You don't want anything to mess up your future with her, right? So stop moping around or the flowers will wilt." He was sulking, the bedhead noted, mustering a lop-sided smile.

Akaashi slowly raised his head and opted to believe in his friend's words rather than continuing to affect the atmosphere with his '(y/n) withdrawal syndrome'.

"Oh fuck..." Akaashi murmured under his breath, quickly hurling himself back inside. Now the panic had set in once again, tenfold.

Lapse

The reception into wedlock, you found yourself alone rather than drowning in affection. The supposed source was nowhere to be found, other than the times where his presence was required. You've been told by his horned-haired  friend that Akaashi had suffered a severe case of (y/n) deficiency, so you figured he wasn't going to let you go for at least the entirety of the night.

But where in the world was Mr. Akaashi?

Your feet were beginning to ache from standing in the same spot for about half an hour and the glass of champagne you held in your hand served more as a hindrance than a distraction now so you finally set it down and went in search for Akaashi.

From the corner of your eye, you spot a flash of ivory corresponding to the tuxedo your husband  adorned and immediately started to follow him. He was heading away from the reception venue. Seeing Akaashi be so cautious of his surroundings, you prepared yourself for the worst-- but of course you were still feeling very conflicted.

He'd come to a halt at the aisle where you had sworn your vows, flower petals scattered all over the area. The memory of them being tossed onto the two of you in spirit of celebration subconsciously made you smile. Anything that posed a threat to your relationship clearly nowhere in sight, so you were relieved a tad bit.

"What do I do..." Your raven-haired husband questions himself rhetorically, sighing miserably. You watched him pace around, back and forth for a while before emerging from your hiding spot that was  behind a tree.

Honestly, you were worried. You figured he would have spotted you by now, knowing how careful and observant he was naturally. Strange, you pondered as you anxiously approached Akaashi.

"Oi." You poked him on the shoulder, temper already rising.

Akaashi's whole body went stiff when he realized you'd followed him out here. When your eyes met, he was surprised to see yours flashing a glint of hurt and anger and that was motivation enough for him to recover.

"H-Hey..." He stammered, unlikely of him.

"Did I do something wrong?" You immediately brought up, brows furrowing dejectedly.

Akaashi frowns at this, "No."

"Then why are you avoiding me like I'm some sort of a plague?"  Your gaze turned sharp.

"I..." The ravenette muttered a stream of words under his breath, of course inaudible to you as you stood a few feet away from him. You stepped closer towards Akaashi, requesting he say it again clearly.

Taking a deep breath, Akaashi finally let his vulnerability show, he pulled you into a much-needed hug as his words spilled out. "I'm sorry (y/n). I never wanted to avoid you--"

"But you did." You tried to pull away, only to be locked in tighter.

"Please just listen." Akaashi asked firmly.

He then continued, "I never wanted to avoid you, to be honest I'm in desperate need of your presence all the time. I never thought another person could influence how I function until I fell in love with you, I don't wanna be without you anymore." Akaashi pulls away from the hug, only to place his lips on yours. Your breath hitched in surprise, but regardless you melted into the kiss.

A few seconds followed before you parted. "That still does not explain why you were avoiding me..." You pouted, earning a breathy chuckle from your husband in response.

"Fine. Kuro... Well he told me that seeing your bride before the wedding is a bad omen and would bring bad luck to our marriage, and I saw you-- you were getting your picture taken."

You scoffed, "That's it?" You deadpanned, Akaashi now the one uncharacteristically pouting at the source of his atrocity. You brought your hands up to cup his face gently.

"Is it your fault that I'm just too beautiful not to look at?" Akaashi shook his head. "Then is it my fault that I chose the balcony to be the place that I get pictures taken?" Once more, he shook his head in disagreement.

"Is it our fault we're too in love that we're not going to tolerate these silly superstitions?"

"No." You could feel his confidence in the single word he replied word.

You grinned, "Now say it with me! What are these superstitions?!"

"Silly."

"Why are they silly?!"

"'Cause even if they're real, nothing's going to come between us."

"What are we going to do about them?!"

"Disregard them and get started on the honeymoon."

"YEA-- Wha.." A surprised shriek escaped your lips as you were lifted from the ground and hoisted over Akaashi's shoulder. You paled realizing your soon-to-be sore predicament, "B-But we haven't even celebrated properly!"

"Believe me, we're going to celebrate like animals." He laughs.
