Chapter 3

Y/n's View

I open my eyes and groan.

"Good morning." Someone says.

I look over and see Maddy.

"What are you doing here?" I ask as I yawn.

"You asked me to spend the night." Maddy says.

"I can't remember anything. All I know is that I took drugs." I say.

"You came out of nowhere, tackled Nate, started cheering, an then I drove you home. You hugged your mom, vomited in the grass, FaceTimed someone to show them it, and when you finally cane inside you asked me to spend the night." Maddy says.

I laugh and she smiles.

"I appreciate you tackling him, you don't know what was going on but I really appreciate it." Maddy says.

I smile and nod.

"You're stronger than you look." Maddy says.

"Drugs will do that to you." I say.

Maddy laughs and I smiles.

"I know my clothes aren't stylish but you can take some of them." I say.

"I can take a shower?" Maddy asks.

"Yeah, go for it." I say.

She smiles and I go downstairs.

"What the hell happened last night?" Mom asks.

I sigh and look around for Maddy.

"I'm undercover as a high school student. To keep my cover I had to take drugs and I couldn't get it out. That's all I can remember." I say.

"Maddy said you tackled her boyfriend." Mom says.

"Attagirl." Dad says patting me on the back.

"Don't encourage her." Mom says.

"I tackled her boyfriend in high school and stole his spot as a quarterback." Dad says.

"How long are you gonna be staying here?" Mom asks.

"I guess until I finish my assignment. Sorry the unannounced visit." I say.

"You're welcome here anytime, honey." Mom says.

My phone rings and I read the screen.

"I gotta take this." I say going outside.

"Hello." I say answering the call.

"How'd it go? I missed your call last night." Chris says.

"I met the dealer last night but I can't remember a single thing about him." I say.

"Why not?!" Chris asks.

"I think he called me a cop and told me to take it right then. I didn't want to blow my cover so I took it." I say.

"Oh lord." Chris says.

"I ended up tackling Maddy's boyfriend and I think she trusts me now." I say.

"That's good but we still don't know who the dealer is." Chris says.

"I'll talk to Rue and see what she can tell me." I say.

"Great." Chris says.

"What are wearing?" Cassie asks.

"Y/n's clothes." I say.

"Oh." Cassie says.

"It's not like that. I had to take her home last night and I spent the night. She let me borrow some clothes." I say.

"Nate broke his arm last night. You know anything about it?" Cassie says.

"Y/n tackled him last night but I didn't think she hit him that hard." I say.

"Oh my god, why'd she hit him?" Cassie asks.

"Y/n took drugs last night and has no idea what happened last night. Nate put his hands on me the same time Y/n was walking past and she just ran straight into him, full speed." I say.

"That's cute. Like Romeo and Juliet." Cassie says.

"Did you even watch that play? None of that happened! Nothing remotely close to that happened!" I say.

Y/n's View

"Are you okay? I saw you in the bathroom last night." Rue says.

"Uh, yeah. I took some drugs. You know where I can get something a little weaker." I say.

"No." Rue says.

"No as in you don't know or—" I say.

"No as I'm not telling you. You could've died last night. Shit, I've almost died on that stuff. I'm not giving you anything." Rue says.

"I'm just looking out for you." Rue says.

"Okay, I appreciate that." I say.

Rue smiles and nods.

"Fuck." I mumble.

I walk away and Nate bumps into me.

"Watch your back Y/l/n." Nate says continuing the walk.

"Hey Auntie." Maddy says sitting beside me.

"Here we go again." I say.

"You busy tonight?" Maddy asks.

"No." I say.

"Cool, can I come over?" Maddy asks.

"And do what?" I ask.

"Your mom said she has Paramount+ and I'm trying to watch Mean Girls again." Maddy says.

I laugh and she smiles.

"Okay." I say.

"Uh, 7 PM sharp, have the popcorn already popped." Maddy says.

"Okay." I say.

"You're the best." Maddy says.

Maddy kisses my cheek and I smile.

Time Skip

"Best movie ever!" Maddy says.

"Eh." I say.

"What's your favorite movie?" Maddy asks.

"Jump Street." I say.

"You might just be a fucking narc." Maddy says as we laugh.

"Your favorite movie is actually 21 jump street?" Maddy asks.

"No, I just wanted to see what you were gonna say." I say.

"So what is it?" Maddy asks.

"White Chicks, for sure." I say.

"That's a good one." Maddy says.

"You wanna watch it?" I ask.

"Sure." Maddy says.

I smile and grab the remote.

"I gotta pee." She says getting up.

My phone dings and I grab it.

I keep forgetting that I'm doing an assignment. I'm having the high school experience I never had during high school. I'm in too deep.

Time Skip; Maddy's View

"Hey Auntie." I say.

"Hey." Y/n says walking past me.

"What happened? You were inseparable yesterday." Cassie says.

"We watched movies at her house last night and everything was fine." I say.

"I'm gonna go talk to her." I say.

"Don't fucking ignore me." I say following Y/n.

"Fuck off." Y/n says going in the bathroom.

I jump on Y/n's back and wrap my arms around her.

"Get off!" Y/n says.

"Not until you talk to me!" I say.

"Fine!" Y/n says.

I get off of Y/n's back and she sighs.

"Why are you ignoring me?" I ask.

"I think us being friends is a distraction from what we really need to do." Y/n says.

"Yeah, a distraction from all the shit I have going on. Y/n, I need you. You're the only person who gives a shit about me." I say.

"Cassie doesn't give a shit half the time, my ex-boyfriend has it out for me, my parents barely speak to me, and Rue is under the influence most of the time. You're the only person truly on my team." I say.

"And you look like a 30 year old woman but I wanna be with you because you make me so fucking happy." I say.

Y/n sighs and looks at me.

"I can't promise you that I'll be the best girlfriend but I can try." Y/n says.

I smile and hug her. Y/n smiles and I kiss her cheek.

"You gotta stop calling me auntie." Y/n says.

"That's hard considering my aunt looks younger than you." I say.

Y/n rolls her eyes and I laugh.
