before i kick this chapter off, j have a question for you all, what would you like to see me do with this story? i don't plan on rushing the relationship between hawks and y/n, as that personally is not my thing, but i also don't want it to be as slow paced and repetitive as it is right now. is there anything you guys wanna see in this story? any headcanons y'all like? any ideas for chapters? i am trying to make this as to everyone's liking as i can.

also i hate using caps so everything is lowercase from now on cause having to press the cap button is annoying and frustrating

alright, that's all, lmk if you have any suggestions and enjoy the chapter!

you walk beside hawks, one hand in your pocket, the other linked around hawks' arm. your social skills had gotten better since you started working with hawks, however meeting and talking to new people was still a struggle for you. it's not that you don't like talking to people, you just do not know the words to say when introducing yourself, and conducting yourself during a conversation was also a major struggle for you. you could do the basics, such as ordering food, or talking to someone when they address you first without a problem. but, initiating conversation yourself was just not one of your strong suits.

the two of you arrive at the park which you'd be waiting for hawks' hero friends to arrive at. you unlink arms and sit on the grass, you holding your head in one of your hands and hawks watching for the people you were supposed to be meeting to show up. "who are we even supposed to be meeting with anyways?" you ask, glancing over at the red winged man. "well, i figured that simply talking to the select few that are around the office wouldn't help you at all with your problem, so i had a few heroes who i know come and hangout with us. mirko is the person who i called originally, and the only person who i had intended on you meeting today, but apparently she might be bringing a few friends with her. sorry, i don't mean to overwhelm you." hawks says, pulling out his phone. you just nod, letting out a small hum before occupying yourself with your thoughts as you stare at the grass. "if you at any point feel uncomfortable, you can tell me. we can just make up an excuse and go home." he says, glancing over at you for a second before focusing back on his phone. you hum again in response.

"hey, hawks!" mirko yells, waving at the winged man. hawks nudges you, bringing you back down to earth and helps you up off the ground. you look over the the rabbit-like girl to see who was with her. luckily enough, she didn't bring anyone, which would make things easier for you.

the three of you walk around the streets for a while, you engaging in the conversation here and there, but not very much. most of the time you were either on your phone or watching hawks and mirko talk to each other. "so, y/n, what made you decide to work at hawks' organization?" mirko asks, looking at you. "o-oh... i don't know. i had always uh... been a fan of hawks since he came to the hero scene. a few friends talked me into applying as a joke, cause they knew how much i liked hawks, and, well, here we are. being quirkless, i didn't expect to get in, though." you reply, drawing your eyes to look at the sidewalk. hawks lets out a quiet chuckle at your response, leaning down a bit to look at your face. you had turned a deep shade of red at this point, and really hadn't wanted to share that information. but, with someone so important asking that question, you just felt obligated to give a truthful answer.

"so, you've always had a crush on me, huh?" hawks says, a cocky looking starting to form on his face. "n-no!" you yell, your eyes widening. he lets out a huff before standing upright, using a wing to pull you closer to his side before he wraps an arm around you. "well, if you ever wanna change agencies, i could always use an assistant to deal with all of my boring ass paperwork." mirko says, a small smirk forming on her face. to that, hawks tenses a bit, his grip on you tightening as he shoots a glare at mirko. "i don't think she'll want to leave anytime soon." he says.

come sundown, you were back at home. you were sat on the couch, staring up at the ceiling while waiting for hawks to come back from whatever urgent last minute thing he had to tend to was. in your hand was one of hawks' feathers, which had been tied to a string and around you neck. hawks gave it to you before he left just in the case of an emergency. you let go of the feather, allowing to fall against your chest and let out a long sigh. almost immediately after that, the feather floats up, stopping so that it was im your line of sight. you just stare at it before it moves down to tickle your nose, then falls back down onto your chest. "come home you idiot." you mutter under your breath. usually, you didn't mind being alone, you actually enjoyed it. however, you had been spending so much time with other people lately that being on your own was an uncomfortable and foreign feeling to you.

by the time hawks had gotten back, you were passed out and curled up so that you were in a ball, you head resting on your knees, and your hands holding your legs so that they were pulled up against your body. a small smile forms on his face before he sits down next to you, changing your position so that your head was rested on his shoulder, and wrapping a wing around you. moments like these weren't uncommon with you, but hawks just couldn't get enough of seeing you so at peace.

you stir a bit, your eyes fluttering open. the first thing to grab your attention was the small portion of a wing that was visible just out of the corner of your eye. a bit after that, it finally hits you that you were now resting on someone's lap. and that someone had a hand brushing through your hair. "did i wake you up?" the winged man asks, causing you to turn your head so that you were looking at him. "huh?" you groan, sitting up a bit and rubbing your eyes. "n-no. i don't think you did." you say. stretching a bit, you turn your body so that you were completely facing him. "when'd you get back?" you ask. "about an hour ago. you were already asleep when i got here, and i didn't want to wake you." he replies. "oh."

the two of you sit in an awkward silence for a bit before hawks finally clears his throat to speak. "we haven't really spent much quality time together lately. i was thinking that, even though i'll probably get shit on by endeavor for this later, we take a few days off and go somewhere." hawks says, pulling you over to him. "you've been pretty tired lately, too. so a few days to relax wouldn't hurt." he looks down at you, awaiting a response. you just let out a hum, thinking over how you'd respond. "of course, if you don't want to right now, that's fine too." hawks says. "no, no. i wouldn't mind being able to get away and spend some time with you." you reply. hawks smiles a bit. "good, how about we go somewhere next weekend?" he asks. you nod. "sounds good to me."

oK i rlly don't like this chapter, bUt i got writers block like 4 times while writing this, which is why it took so long, and life has been crazy lately - with school starting up and all. anyways, i am probably gonna upload this once or twice a week at most, it just depends on how shit with school goes. what i said at the beginning of the chapter still applies, btw. i would love to hear what you guys wanna see me do with this story, and i will take any and all suggestions into consideration :).
