Safe

I was hardly able to sleep last night, busy thinking about the events of the night. Alfred got me up, cooked breakfast, and I got in my bat suit. I hopped in the bat mobile, and rushed to the police station. Jim was there waiting for me, we went in a got Joker out of the cell. We all went into the interrogation room and sat down. "Joker," I said "we need you to tell us what happened." Joker only sighed and looked away from me. "I was attacked from behind " he started to say "the person hit me in the back of the head, a-and knocked me out." Joker stopped, and took a deep breath, crossing his arms across his chest. "I guess I was out for a few minutes," he continued "when I w-woke up, everything hurt. A-and this m-man was on top of me." His voice started to get quieter as the story went on. He stuttered more, and his eyes were full of unshed tears. "H-he was a lot stronger than I was," he cried "I d-didn't have any weapons. He covered my mouth so n-nobody could hear me." At that moment, Joker broke down into a fit of tears. I got up and hurried to his side, and reached out to him. My hand got slapped away, but it wasn't that hard. "O-oh my god," Joker said surprised "I'm s-so  sorry. I d-didn't mean to do that." I didn't say anything, but I tried reaching out again. Pulling him close, his head was resting on my stomach. Joker didn't do or say anything, but continued to tremble. I ran my fingers through his hair, "It's alright," I whispered "you're safe."

"Did you get to see what the man looked like?" Jim asked after Joker calmed down. "Yeah." Was the only response that was given. Jim got one of the sketch team members, and asked what this man looked like. A few minutes later and we got a nice description of our attacker. He was about in his fifties, with dark brown hair that was short and combed to the left side. He had hazel eyes hidden behind black rimmed glasses. He was heavy set, average height, with a nice white, button up shirt. Jim left the room, and gathered a team to grab civilians that matched the description.

*time skip*

An hour and a half later, Jim came back "We managed to find some people who matched your description." Both of us looked over at him, eyes wide as we were surprised he did that so quickly. "We need you to point him out to us," Jim said "he needs to be brought to justice, so he can't hurt anyone else." Joker looked over at me, face full of nervousness. All I said was a simple "Come on, let's do it quickly."

We entered a room with a window, with a chair next to it. On the other side of the window, there were measurements like someone would get if they got a mugshot. "Alright, here's what we need you to do," Jim said "when these people get out here, we need you to identify which one is your attacker." Joker nodded, showing he understood, and all the people came in. There were six of them in total, all holding their numbers. I was watching Joker's actions as all of them walked in and stood in their places. He stiffened when he spotted one of them. "That's him," Joker said in a small voice "number three."

"Are you sure?" I asked, wanting to be positive about this. Joker just gave a sharp nod, "You don't really forget something like this." He kind of gave a laugh at the end, but it wasn't like the usual. I don't understand why, but I didn't like seeing him like this. It bothered me for some weird reason.
