Magic Human Husk x Human Alastor🌧☁️

⚠️ Warning: this story will contain periodic homophobia. Let's be honest guys this is the 1920's/ 1930's, these were the days when I'd be crucified for being a woman that can read and write. That being said, being gay wasn't even heard of back then, so expect some...risky language. I'm not afraid to get controversial if the story calls for it. That said, I hope you enjoy anyways.
___________________________ Husk is a grumpy man, notoriously so. His friend-Alastor-is famously charismatic. The two are polar opposites in every way. Husk being a burly and pessimistic man, while Alastor is lanky and optimistic. Yet somehow these two are always found together. If asked, Husk would just say it was because the radio host enjoyed annoying him, but some have remained skeptical. However, there is one thing these two opposites both seem to enjoy.
Magic shows.

Yes, the grumpy Husk loves magic shows, and Alastor loved just about any kind of entertainment, so of course when he found out, he went out of his way to get tickets for the next show for him and his friend. Husk was stunned to say the least, he hadn't expected such a considerate gesture from the psychopath, but he wasn't any less grateful. Needless to say, Husk had a pretty roundabout way of thanking the slightly shorter man, but Alastor was simply happy to find something Husk liked other then alcohol and gambling. The two had a lot of fun at the show, Husk actually smiled! A personal victory for Alastor.

The radio host knew it was wrong, but he somehow found himself head-over-heels with the ebony haired man. Alastor knew he could have any woman he wanted, but that was just it, he didn't want any of the thousands of women who flocked to him, he just wanted the man who was to stubborn to even admit that they were friends. His feelings would be heavily frowned upon, and it would jeopardize both his career and Husk reputation, so he kept these feelings to himself. Still, he would never stop trying to make the gruff man smile, and if he had to sit through a magic show everyday while keeping his feelings locked away, so be it.

Of course Husk was suspicious, sure he knew Alastor liked seeing people smile-if he had a quarter for every time he heard "you're never fully dressed without a smile!" come out of that guys mouth-but Alastor wasn't exactly known for his acts of kindness. Sure, Alastor was a gentleman, but that still didn't make him nice. Alastor was many things, but nice wasn't one of them. As odd as it was, Husk wasn't really the kind of person to question a good thing, though he was slightly concerned for the brunette.

Alastor quickly made his way to the bar as fast as his skinny legs could possibly carry him, he'd really done it this time! When he finally made it to the bar, he was completely out of breath, Husk saw his reluctant friend and immediately knew something happened, but didn't care quite enough to put his bottle down. When Alastor finally caught his breath, his already ever present smile widened when looking at Husk. This made Husk eyes widen, he'd only seen that smile once before, and he'd much rather forget it. His mind instantly forgot about it when he saw what Alastor had in his hand, a hand-written letter from the best magician in New Orleans! Husk looked at the smiling man in shock before reading the letter. The letter addressing how Alastor had mentioned him quite a bit, and he wanted to teach Husk how to do magic tricks! Husk was left speechless. Alastor did this for him? Alastor set this up for him? Husk looked up at the crimson eyes of the other man with his own onyx ones. Husk just couldn't contain himself! He picked up the lanky man and hugged him right there in front of the entire bar.

Alastor felt his face get warm, had it been anyone else, Alastor would have snapped about being touched without his permission, but with Husk it felt...nice. He felt all the consequences of this escape his mind as he melted into the man's arms, slowly hugging him back. This was risky for both of them, and he knew it, but he didn't care, he didn't want to care. He just wanted to enjoy his love's embrace for the rest of his life, not worrying about the judgmental gaze of the public, just enjoying each other's company. If he could have that, he would be truly happy. But as reality came crashing in on him again, he remembered.
That just wasn't the world they lived in.

He should had known. He should had known better then to get his hopes up. Better then to think that Alastor had done something like this through legal means. Turns out Alastor threatened the magician, resulting in him being held at gunpoint when he got there. Husk was lucky he managed to get out alive, but needless to say, Husk was pissed off.

The next day at the bar, Alastor came in with his usual smile, and asked Husk how the lessons went. Husk lost it right there, punching the young man in the face, sending him toppling to the ground. "You fuckin' know what you did you son of a bitch! I can't believe you fuckin' did that! I'll never be able to show my face at a magic show ever again! I hate you!" he screamed. Alastor didn't move from his place on the floor, his heart was broken. The man he loved...hated him. His lips quivered as he struggled to keep up his smile and tears trickled down his face. Husk was in awe at the sight, he'd never seen Alastor like this before, and it...it almost scared him. Husk held out his hand for the man, but was ignored as the heartbroken man picked himself up and dust himself off. He didn't say anything as he left the bar, leaving Husk to wonder...what did he do?

It's been a month since that day, and Alastor still hasn't come back to the bar, and Husk was concerned. He hadn't seen the radio host at all since that day, and when he heard the brunette on the radio he didn't sound right. Something in Husk just knew it was his fault. For some reason, the thought that he is the reason behind the psychopaths behavior made his heart ache. With a sigh he put down his booze and walked out of the bar and made his way to the radio station. When he got there, he couldn't believe what he saw. Alastor, the man that always smiles, was...crying. He sobbed into his hands muttering all sorts of insults at himself.

This wasn't like the egotistical man Husk had come to know and...tolerate...yeah...let's pretend that's what he meant. The thing that stuck out the most were the words "he'd never love me" and "I'm such a faggot". Husk eyes widened, Alastor was in love with someone? Not just someone, a man? Husk had just about enough and kneeled beside the broken man, making his presence known.

Alastor instantly stopped crying when he heard footsteps, only to be met with the black eyes of the last person he wanted to see at that moment. Alastor averted his eyes, wiping his face and plastering on a fake smile for his former friend. "How long have you been there?" he asked, scared of the answer. "Long enough" came Husk vague answer before he placed a hand on Alastor's shoulder, causing the younger to flinch. "Look, I don't care if you like guys, it's none of my fuckin' business" Husk tried to reassure, but the shorter man only shook his head, "you wouldn't understand" he stated. Husk looked Alastor directly in the eyes "try me" he said.

Before either of them realized what was happening, Alastor leaned forward, crashing there lips together in a soft kiss. Husk eyes widened, but surprisingly, it felt really...nice. Husk slowly kissed back, there lips molded together, like this was meant to be. A small spark of electricity traveled across there lips, making the two moan as they slowly pulled away. "I love you".

After that, the two were officially a couple. Unfortunately, there relationship wasn't very well accepted, but they didn't care, they had each other, and that was good enough. Husk was there to tend to Alastor's wounds when he got injured during a hunt or from people throwing rocks. Alastor cooked and did everything he possibly could to bring a smile to his beloved partners face. Little did the radio host know, Husk had found his reason to smile with him, sure they may be outcast from society, but what did that matter to him?
            They have each other.
