Alastor was only five when he moved from New Orleans to Colorado. Alastor was very nervous and upset at being in a whole new area with a whole new school. Alastor was terribly skinny and as timid as a rabbit, which certainly didn't help him fit in. What poor little Alastor wouldn't do to be home and cling onto his mother's dress watching her cook. Alastor spent the entire first day of kindergarten doing his school work and minding his own business.

Eventually, recess rolled around and little Alastor was sitting alone on the swings, since he was able to be alone there. That is, until another boy about his age approached him. The boy was about his height, had black hair, pale skin and blue eyes, a contrast to Alastor's own brown hair, tan skin, and brown eyes. "Hi! My name is Victor! What's your name?" the little boy asked the timid one. Alastor flinched as the other spoke, his father had beaten a fear of people into him-especially those with white skin. He whimpers as he curls up into a ball, soft sobs force themselves from his mouth as cold tears glide down his cheeks.

Victor was shocked and reasonably worried, why was this boy crying? He didn't know what else to do, so he did the only thing he could think of-he wrapped his arms around him, rubbing his back and whispering soothing words into his ear. Alastor froze, as he was afraid of being touched by most people, but Victor's gentle touch and soothing words worked to calm him in ways only his mother had before. Victor pulled back with a soft smile as he gently wiped the tears from Alastor's face, careful of the purple bruise over his eye. "What happened?" Victor asked concerned, which startled Alastor, as his young mind had thought all white men were similar to his father-perhaps not. "I-I got in a fight" he stuttered, knowing the consequences of telling the truth, he couldn't do that, if he did surely this boy would get hurt too. Victor looks worriedly at him, hugging him again and petting his messy hair, "it's ok, I won't let anyone hurt you, you're safe with me" he reassured. Surprisingly, Alastor believed him, as he clutched his favorite deer plush and looked his new friend in the eyes, "A-Alastor, my name is A-Alastor".

Elementary school and the two were still attached to one another, Alastor slowly coming out of his shell, but refusing to let anyone but Vox or his mother touch him. Vox had never met Alastor's father, which he found weird, but thought maybe he just wasn't in the picture and didn't want to bring it up, Alastor would tell him when he's comfortable. Middle school and Vox had gotten into his girls phase, he'd flirt with just about every girl he laid eyes on. Alastor thought it was gross, and was a bit worried, he was wondering when he would start liking girls. Vox just kept telling him to be patient, but Alastor was growing restless.

High school came, and Alastor was the complete opposite of the timid child he was in kindergarten, he was a charismatic loudmouth, everyone knew and loved him and Vox. Of course rumors started that him and Vox were a couple, but neither one acknowledged them. That said, the two were aware of something no one else was aware of, Vox had come of to Alastor back in freshman year, and Alastor realize and confessed to being gay in their junior year.

They were now in their senior year, and the two were just as close as they'd always been, at least, that's what Alastor had thought. He was walking through the busy halls of the school looking for his childhood friend, when he saw him talking to two of the most popular people in school-Valentino and Velvet. Thinking nothing of it, he ran over and greeted the three, only to be in shock as Vox scoffs and shoved him down. Valentino cackles as he pulls Victor close and starts making out with him. Alastor had never felt so broken, his only friend and long-time crush had not only betrayed him, but completely broke his heart. Alastor didn't cry however, no, he screamed. He screamed his anger, his sadness, and soon enough he became violent as he punched Valentino in the face, his fist lightly coated in blood from Valentino's broken jaw.

Alastor was suspended from school for awhile, it was a wonder he managed to survive. His father was livid when he found out Alastor got suspended. He received the worst beatings of his life throughout that time, yet somehow he managed to hide the bruises littering his body...at least...he thought so. Unfortunately, Valentino was not willing to let go, and dug to find any kind of dirt on Alastor he could, that's when he found out about Alastor's abusive father. When Alastor returned to school, everyone knew about his secret, and he would never hear the end of the teasing from his miserable peers. The only thing that seemed to keep him going was his two newfound friends-Hank and Nickie, who were disgusted by the way everyone treated Alastor.

When Victor heard the rumors, he fell apart, all of a sudden Alastor's supposed clumsiness made so much more sense! Throughout the years Alastor always blamed his injuries on clumsiness, but Victor had only ever seen Alastor as graceful throughout their lives. Victor felt guilt swallow him whole as he thinks about all the signs he somehow managed to miss, and how awful of a friend he was for betraying him. Victor made many attempts to speak with Alastor, but was always driven away, which caused a rivalry between the two.

Running. Alastor couldn't stop running. The police dogs trailed just barely behind him as he ran through the ever so familiar forest, blood coating him from head to toe. His breathing was ragged as he attempted to escape the vicious canines. After the incident in high school, Alastor had growl to crave violence, something about it seemed to melt all his pains away, like he was transferring his pain to someone else. Eventually this lead to his new murderous ways, taking life after life, it didn't matter anymore-though of course he had his restrictions. He blamed Victor entirely for this, if he'd never met Victor things would be very different! If Victor hadn't betrayed him he would never have needed to turn to this! If Victor hasn't broken his heart...perhaps-his thoughts were cut short as a bullet lodged itself between his eyes. He briefly registered the sight of police officers standing in front of him, one with a smoking gun. Ah, so that's what it was. How pathetic, for the great Alastor to be chased down by dogs and shot down like lowly prey. He supposed he looked akin to a deer in the head lights at that moment, as he was so deep in his thoughts he didn't even realize the cops were there until the bullet was lodged in his skull. As he lay on the grass, eyes staring up at the sky, he thought of Victor as tears pricked his eyes, only a single word he spoke before his breath was cut short. "Why?"

Victor worked for a famous news network by that time, so he was one of the first people to ever know about this. Something inside of Victor...broke. To know that his childhood best friend not only ended up as a serial killer but was now dead was heartbreaking. This was Alastor! The kid who loved his mother like a goddess, straight A student, polite and oozed charisma! The man with an abusive father...the man he let down...Victor felt tears fall freely as he realized his failure. As children, he promised that timid child he'd protect him from anything, and he broke that promise so many times it hurt Victor to think about. When Victor read over the autopsy report, his heart stopped as he went over Alastor's last words. Victor thoughts swam as he knew the question was directed at him. 'Why did you do this? Why did you betray me? Why did you abandon me? Why didn't you help me?" his thoughts scolded in Alastor's voice. Alastor's voice...how Victor missed his voice. Smooth like silk, sweet like honey, and every word was like sweet poetry to his ears, and now it was gone. Victor became ruthless, treating his employees like complete shit, taking out his self-anger on them. Eventually, one employee had enough, considering he poisoned Victor. Victor coughed up blood, staining his jaw in blood, and it made him think of how Alastor broke Valentino's jaw, Victor smiled fondly at the memort, if only he realized how much of a badass Alastor was back then. He sighs and looks up at the ceiling, the image of the man he cared about more then anything flashing through his mind as he reached out and mumbled before succumbing to the poison. "See you in hell, old friend".

Vox was surprised at first when he landed in hell and wasn't burning for all eternity, but that wasn't important, he had something important to focus on. He went throughout hell, searching and asking for Alastor, leading to mixed reactions. Some told him to fuck off and told him he was stupid, others told him to stay away and to fear him. Victor decided instead to find a location Alastor would likely reside, a swamp.

Sure enough, a wood cabin like house was set up in a swamp area and the red deer demon could be located inside. Victor couldn't seem to contain himself as he pulled his old friend close, gently petting his ears. Alastor could recognize that touch anywhere, even though they were different, somehow Alastor still recognized that touch from years ago. Alastor grew weak as tears built in his eyes, his head leaning down to hide in Vox shoulder. Vox pulls away to make Alastor look at him, as he finally says what Alastor had only dreaming of hearing. "I love you". Alastor's smile softens as he intangibles their claws, looking in Vox digital eyes as he lets out his true feelings at last. "I love you too".
