Chapter 7- The Favour

Marilyn was curled up in a ball on the couch in Eric's office, Ginger had come in at some point later in the night and placed a blanket over her. She now laid there blanket pulled up to her chest mind racing with thoughts of her sister and Lafayette. As Marilyn looked around the room, she could tell Eric had spent the night in some other part of the club. That was probably best considering what conspired between them moments before Marilyn decided to get some sleep. She now sat on the edge of the couch stretching out her limbs in a cat-like fashion, she could hear each bone creak with every stretch. She pushed herself off the sofa and pulled on an oversized Fangtasia t-shirt she'd found curled up in the corner. She made her way across the office, her feet causing slapping sounds along the way as her bare feet touched the stone floor. Marilyn pulled open Eric's office door and spotted her sister sitting on one of the many bright red bar stools, Sookie looked worse for wear and Marilyn could tell her sister had gotten very little sleep last night. She moved towards her sister cautious of the injuries she sustained last night whilst out with Bill.

"Hey Sook, how are you feeling?" Marilyn asked as she placed herself on the barstool next to Sookie.

"Terrible, I was attacked by some random bull creature and then spent most of the night in agony as some weird doctor healed the wounds on my back. The only good thing is that I don't have any scars." Sookie ranted to her sister and as she finished a look of relief washed over her sister's face as if she'd been waiting all night to say that.

"I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you last night Sookie, but I have a good explanation" Marilyn felt incredibly guilty about not being with Sookie last night. "I found Lafayette."

Sookie turned to face Marilyn fully now her blues eyes burrowing into Marilyn's green ones. "What do you mean 'you've found Lafayette'?"

"He's in the basement. That's where I was last night and that's why I was already here when you arrived. He's down there as part of his punishment for selling vampire blood." Marilyn explained

"And Eric put him down there?" Sookie questioned already knowing the answer

"Yeah, he did" Marilyn replied sombrely , the realisation only hitting her now that the man she trusts had kidnapped one of her closest friends.

"I told you he was bad news. This is exactly why you should listen to me, Marilyn."

"I really don't need an 'I told you so' right now Sookie okay? I get it, Eric's bad news and I shouldn't have trusted him. You don't have to make me feel any worse than I already do. Let's just focus on how to get him out."

"And how are we supposed to do that?" Sookie was now getting angry, and Marilyn wanted to run and hide in a corner somewhere until she had calmed down. Marilyn had always hated it when people got angry at her especially when something wasn't her fault. She didn't put Lafayette down in that basement and Eric did say he would let him go. She now cast her mind back to when Eric mentioned the favour, she had to do for him. She wondered what it was.

The clicking of Sookie's fingers snapped Marilyn out of her thoughts and back to reality. Marilyn really didn't want to continue this conversation with Sookie because she knew it would just consist of Sookie lecturing Marilyn on her choice of company and why she hadn't learnt from last time.

"Eric said he'd let Lafayette go if I did a favour for him. I'll just do the favour and Lafayette will be free to roam the world again." Marilyn now explained agitation creeping into her voice

"What's the favour?" Sookie asked

"I guess I'll find out as soon as Eric wakes up from his beauty sleep."

Sookie and Marilyn sat at the bar for several hours waiting for the sun to set and the moon to rise so they could talk to Eric, well at least that's why Marilyn wanted the night to come she suspected her sister had other reasons for wanting the sun to disappear. Marilyn's suspicions were confirmed because as soon as the sun set Bill came charging into the nightclub and into the arms of Sookie. They stood there for several moments wrapped in each other's embrace and a pit of jealously started to form in Marilyn's stomach, she now realised that she wanted something like that- someone to care for her like that. She had to look away because if she stared any longer, she might begin too cry. Marilyn would never understand how her sister got a love like that so easily whereas Marilyn had spent every day of her life fighting for something even close to that. She quickly spun around charging towards the ladies' room when a broad chest blocked her path. Marilyn looked up into the ice blue eyes of Eric Northman and any feelings of sadness disappeared, they were all replaced with feelings of anger. He could sense her change in emotion as that smirk of his crept up onto his face. Eric placed his hand on Marilyn's waist as he led her back into his office, no words were spoken between the two of them as they journeyed across the room.

Eric turned and quietly shut the door to his office, Marilyn leaned against his desk the hard wood biting into her lower back. He turned to face her but didn't move any closer. The tension between them could have literally been cut with a knife, neither of them knew where to start.

"How did you sleep?" Eric asked trying to start up a conversation

"Fine, I can see why you fucked so many women on that couch. It's comfortable." A split second after the words left her mouth Eric's face fell as if he was ashamed but that wasn't true or was it?

"I'll cut to the chase, I'll let your friend go if you and your sister come with me to Dalla to help me find a vampire called Godric." Eric explained

"Your maker?" Marilyn remembered the name from one of their many conversations about their pasts.

"You remembered?" Eric whispered more to himself than to her.

"Of course, I did. What's happened to him?"

"I don't know. All I know is that he's missing and no one in Dallas knows where he is, and I need you and your sister's abilities to help me find him."

"If I help you find him, you'll let Lafayette go?" Marilyn asked

"Yes, if both you and Sookie agree to help me I'll let him go before we leave." Eric explained

"Sookie'll agree. Don't worry about her but you do realise that she'll want to bring along Bill and Bill will want to bring Jessica."

"Yes, I have thought about the fact that she won't want to go anyway without dear Bill. It's fine."

"Perfect, when do we leave?"

"This evening." Eric stated. Sensing the conversation was over Marilyn headed towards the door but a strong hand caught her arm before being able to reach the door handle. Eric leaned in close his cold breath brushing against her skin Marilyn fought a shiver as he said "I'm sorry for lying to you. I will never do it again." Those were the words Marilyn had wanted to hear all morning, she leaned into him the back of her head rested on his chest. "How can I trust you not to kidnap any more of my friends?" She whispered back to him.

"Because all I want is you. I want you to be mine." That statement took her back, she didn't know what to say. Of course, she wanted to be his, but she wouldn't give herself over so easily to him. "Think about it while we're in Dallas." He said as he turned her around to face him, his lips gently brushed against hers- a whisper of a kiss. A promise.

After taking a moment to compose herself, Marilyn marched out of Eric's office and announced they were all going to Dallas. Sookie obviously put up a fight but after Eric agreed to give her $10,000 and let her bring Bill, she agreed. Marilyn spent the time before the flight packing and thinking over Eric's revelation. To be a Vampire's person is something huge. Was Marilyn ready for that? Did she even want that?

Well, she now had a whole plane ride to think it over.
