Chapter 3- Guilty Conscience

Eric sat Marilyn and Sookie at a small table in the middle of his very classically vampire bar. His put one of his employees in front of them and asked Sookie to read his mind to see if this incredibly sweaty man was the one stealing the money. Marilyn sat back in her chair and watched with a bored expression on her face because she knew no human would be stupid enough to steal money from a vampire especially a sheriff. So, whilst Sookie was working her way through each employee's minds, Marilyn was listening in on each vampire that was present in the room. And just as a too skinny woman named Ginger came and sat in front of Marilyn and Sookie she heard him. His voice rang loud through her head, he was confident that the glamouring had worked on this poor blonde woman and that she wouldn't remember who stole the money. Marilyn slowly scanned the room hoping to zone in on the voice, and just as her eyes landed on the goth vampire behind the bar. Sookie said "She knows who it is but it's like her mind isn't letting her remember. It's just blank."

"She's been glamoured." Eric and Pam said at the same time. And that moment Marilyn jumped out of her seat and walked towards the vampire behind the bar whose name she now remembered was LongShadow.

"You." Marilyn said whilst pointing at him. " It was you. You stole the money and glamoured Ginger."

That's when he jumped out from behind the bar and lunged at Marilyn. She spun around and grabbed the chair she was sitting on moments ago, with the chair in hand she smashed the wooden chair against LongShadows head. In retrospect, She could see how that was a bad idea as it only made him angrier but within the seconds between her hitting LongShadow and him recovering she was suddenly covered in blood and vampire. Once all of the vampire had landed on the ground, standing behind what was LongShadow was Bill Compton with a bloody chair leg in his hand.

Marilyn who was still in a little bit of shock and breathing heavily said "Thanks"

Who knew Bill would save her especially since the punishment for killing another vampire was severe. That's when Eric came around to face her, he looked her up and down checking for wounds or any signs of injury once he had decided she wasn't hurt he sent her into the bathroom. Marilyn felt as if she had left her body and was only a shell as if her sister had sensed she wasn't okay, Sookie led her into the bathroom and started to help clean off the blood and body parts from her skin.

Sookie turned Marilyn to face. "Hey, are you okay?"

A knock at the door cut off any response Marilyn might have had. Pam entered with a pile of clothes in her hands, she handed them to Marilyn and she absently took them from her.

"Thank You." Was Marilyn's only response.

"I thought you wouldn't want to wear clothes that have vampire blood all over." Pam gave her a sincere smile and left taking Sookie with her so, Marilyn could have some time alone to clean up and put on her new clothes.

Once changed Marilyn looked into the mirror placed above the somewhat grimy sink, checking her appearance was acceptable and that all the bits of vampire were out of her hair. She exited the bathroom in a skin tight black dress that only just about covered her ass and pushed her boobs up so much she was worried they might fall out but then realised that's probably the point. She walked into the sounds of arguing between what could only be Eric and Bill. They were arguing about Bill killing that vampire, he defence was that if hadn't killed LongShadow he would have killed me or Eric would have killed him anyway. Eric was coming back with that there are rules and he shouldn't have killed someone for a human, even if she was the sister of his girlfriend. Bill said Sookie wasn't his girlfriend. They went on like this for several minutes, Marilyn had found a seat by that point and was just watching them go back and forth. It was actually quite entertaining for awhile and then they just went back to where they had started . All Marilyn wanted at this point was to go home and snuggle up under her blankets. Maybe have a shower if she had enough energy.

"Can Sookie and I go home now?" She asked only to be polite because she was already halfway to the door with her sister in tow.

"You shouldn't go home alone." Was Bill's response

"Well your not going with them." Eric said

"Why not? Bill, what's going on?" Sookie asked but got no response as Marilyn dragged her out of the door.

"We'll be fine." Marilyn shouted as they left.

She was so glad when her and Sookie were on the road, 5 minutes away from their house. But that's when Sookie decided it was a good time to start asking questions and Marilyn did the one thing she's good at, she shut Sookie's now annoying voice out. All she wanted was a nice hot shower and to go to sleep, hoping that if she slept long enough she could erase this whole night from her memory. It's not like she hasn't seen a dead vampire before but Bill's going to get in so much trouble for killing that vampire and normally it wouldn't bother her, she didn't even like Bill but her sister did. And she didn't want Sookie to worry about Bill, she has enough on her mind with the murders she doesn't need to add Bill to her list of worries. So, all Marilyn said was "It's going to be fine. I'll got talk to Eric tomorrow and figure out what's going to happen to Bill." They got home shortly after that, Marilyn shot upstairs took a hot shower and then collapsed into her bed.

Marilyn slept almost the whole day and woke up just as the sun was going down. She got up and dressed, she walked into the living room to find Sookie and Sam kissing. Okay how long had she been asleep and what has she missed? Marilyn guessed she didn't need to talk to Eric anymore, it seems her sister has moved on quite quickly. Marilyn stood in the archway between the foyer and the living room clearing her throat. They both spun around surprised to see her as if she wasn't just asleep upstairs, did they just forget she live here too?

"Okay, I'm going to go out and when I come back I only want to see one of you here." Marilyn said as she grabbed her shoes and car keys. Then she left and drove to Fangtasia. Even though Sookie clearly isn't worried about Bill anymore doesn't mean Marilyn wasn't. She felt guilty about Bill being punished so, she was going to ask Eric if he could help him.

She pulled up outside of Fangtasia, red neon lights were glowing outside the club and there was a line to get in. Marilyn jumped the queue, hoping Pam was the one letting people in. She knew Pam liked her more than her sister and maybe that would work in her favour. She pushed her way to the front and came face to face with Pam. In this light Pam looked stunning, she was naturally beautiful and her makeup just made her look better if that was possible. It also didn't hurt that Pam had amazing fashion sense, Marilyn made a mental note to ask Pam where she got that dress she gave her the other night.

"Marilyn, back so soon?"

"I need to speak with Eric, is he here?" She asked hoping the answer was yes.

"He just got back. He's in his office." She replied. "I should warn you he's in one of his moods."

"Thank you." Just as Marilyn starts to walk off she turned back. "Also, I have to ask where did you get that dress you gave me the other night?"

"If you make it out of your conversation with Eric, I'll tell you all my fashion secrets."

"You've got yourself a deal."

Marilyn knocked once on Eric's office door but there was no reply so she decided to just risk it and walk straight in. And there he was sitting in his chair looking every bit of the Viking God he was. He truly was beautiful.

"Little Stackhouse, how nice of you to visit me so soon." He said whilst scanning my face looking for something. After a few seconds he gave up and brought his focus back to my eyes.

"I need to ask you about Bill." I say wondering if it was too late.

"His punishment has already been given. If that's what you were going to say."

"Great." Marilyn muttered with the look of discontent on her face.

"What is it with you Stackhouses and Bill Compton?" He asked genuinely expecting an answer.

"Sookie cares for him and he wouldn't be in this mess if it wasn't for me." She explains

"He'll live don't worry." He said as if that's suppose to reassure her. "Come with me" He held his hand out for her to take it and she did. He led her out of the office all the way to the throne. He sat down first and then gestured for her to sit on his lap, and for some unknown reason she did. She sat down on his lap, his hands on her hips keeping her in place. She was sat so if she wanted to she could place her head on his shoulder, not that she was going to.

"So, Marilyn Stackhouse, tell me your life story."

"Oh, so nothing too serious then." She then added. "You don't want to hear about my life, it's boring."

"Not to me." He stated whilst gazing into her eyes. He genuinely wanted to know about her and she was going to tell him, nearly everything. Some parts were better left unsaid. And that's how she spent the rest of the evening, sitting on Eric Northman's lap whilst reciting her childhood. She had never felt so close to someone before, he told her about his life before becoming a vampire. It was like a dream and one she never wanted to wake up from.
