14. Getting Shit Done

"Beautiful like a bad tattoo
looking like a mortal sin"

THERE WAS A SWITCHBLADE IN ROSALIND'S POCKET.

Just in case.

She and Gordon had taken Kenzie in and released the recording of Falcone to the news. It was going to air as soon as possible. Then Rosalind left the precinct and made her way to the Iceberg Lounge. She didn't bother changing her clothes to blend in at the club. She wasn't undercover this time. Rosalind was simply herself. And she had a job to do.

The door of the club opened to reveal the twins once again. She noticed that their faces were still bruised from the last time. Rosalind sighed and ran a hand through her hair.

"Are we really going to do this again?" She asked them, putting her hands on her hips. "Let's just save us all the trouble."

They stared at her for a moment. Then they stepped aside. Rosalind smiled.

"Thanks guys," She said, walking past them.

As Rosalind made her way through the club, music blared and lights flashed. She noticed a few people looking at her and she remembered she was still kind of big news. After all, her kidnapping and torture had been livestreamed about 48 hours ago. But at this point, she didn't care about the stares.

She cared about finding Bruce.

Rosalind knew she wouldn't find him in the crowd. She ducked into a door leading to the backrooms. There was immediately an unconscious body to step over. Rosalind smirked. So she was headed in the right direction. Further down the hallway she heard what sounded like a saw. Cautiously she took the switchblade out of her pocket and made her way towards the sound.

But there was no need for it. Bruce was standing there, his back to her as he was quite literally cutting the power.

"You leave bodies like a trail of breadcrumbs," She said.

Bruce jumped and whipped around, ready to fight. But when he saw who it was, he deflated with relief. She heard him whisper her name with a chuckle.

"How else would I get you to find me?" He said. "But you should head back into the club, find Selina. It's safer for you out there, Falcone's guys keep-"

As if Bruce had summoned it, one of Falcone's cronies burst in. But Rosalind was faster. She elbowed him in the stomach, making him double over before bringing her knee up to crack him in the face. The man fell to the ground immediately, out cold. Bruce's mouth hung open as she caught her breath.

"I think I'm good," She shrugged.

"You are-" He shook his head. "You are so impressive."

A second later, the power went out. It was pitch black in the room for a moment before the red backup lights came on. Bruce began digging through his backpack. He pulled out the cowl and glanced up at Rosalind.

"I need to change," He said. "Keep watch?"

Rosalind nodded but Bruce didn't move. She chuckled and held up her hands before turning around.

"Scared I'm gonna look at your ass?" She asked.

"I mean if you want to..."

Rosalind jokingly glanced over her shoulder only to have his jacket thrown over her head.

Before long, Rosalind was following Batman through the red lighted halls. They both made quick work of Falcone's men before reaching an elevator. Rosalind looked up at him.

"You cut the power," She said. "Why don't we just take the stairs-?"

Batman pulled the heavy doors open to reveal the empty elevator shaft. He looked back at her and held out an arm. Rosalind raised her eyebrows but took it anyway. Batman pulled her close to him, wrapping his arm tightly around her waist. She clung to him as he shot a grappling hook up into the shaft.

He turned his head to look at her. They were so close together, their faces barely an inch apart. His eyes searched hers for a moment, almost losing himself in her proximity. Her arms around his neck and his around her waist fit together like a puzzle. Rosalind felt the familiar butterflies in her stomach. But there was no time for that now.

"You and I need to have a talk later," She said.

"Noted," He replied.

"Also if you drop me I'm going to kill you."

The hallway was dark. Falcone's men tried their best to make their way through it with their flashlights and guns. A few tripped over each other, bumping shoulders and into walls. They had been told to guard this hall. But there was no way to it unless you used the elevator and the power was out so-

Ding!

The elevator doors opened and the men pointed their guns and flashlights. Their lights shone on a head of red hair. The head turned around to reveal a woman. She smiled at them, squinting a bit from the lights in her eyes.

"Going up?" Rosalind asked.

Hell broke loose. Batman appeared behind Rosalind and they both leapt into action. Flashlights were dropped and guns were drawn. Rosalind could barely see, she punched and kicked and sliced. Gunshots rang out, the only light coming from each shot. In the flashes of light, Rosalind could see Batman take each shot and take the men down. Rosalind took down several of her own. When the gunshots stopped, she had the last one pinned against the wall before flipping him over her shoulder. Rosalind stood straight and blew the hair out of her face, making her way towards the door.

"Keep up, huh?" She said as she passed Batman. She heard him scoff.

They entered the room warily. There were no more guards. But they could hear a struggle. Turning the corner, they saw falcone choking Selina on the ground.

Instantly, Rosalind ran forward, swiping a pool stick off the pool table. She swung the stick into falcone's head like she was hitting a home run. He yelled out in pain and fell to the side, freeing Selina.

The woman jumped up, pointing a gun at Falcone. Batman grabbed her, holding her back. Rosalind slid over to Falcone, holding her switchblade to his throat so he wouldn't try to get away.

"He has to pay!" Selina spat as Batman tried to wrestle the gun out of her hands.

"You don't have to pay with him." Batman told her. "You paid enough."

"Selina," Rosalind looked up at her. "It's okay. You're alright now. He'll get what he deserves."

Selina relaxed enough for Batman to take the gun from her. Rosalind switched places with Batman. Rosalind embraced Selina tightly as Batman forced Falcone to his feet.

"You've done so well," She told Selina as they began to follow Batman out.

No one stopped them as they made their way through the club. Rosalind was right on Batman's heels while Selina hung back a bit. People parted to let them pass, staring with wide eyes. Falcone laughed.

"Jesus," He said. "Look at you, man. What do you think this is? You think you're gonna scare me with that mask and that cape? I'm gonna start crying and all of a sudden some big secret's coming out? Let me tell you something. Whatever I know, whatever I've done, it's all going with me to my grave."

"For once in your life, just shut up," Rosalind said.

"You know, you've been a pain in my ass for weeks now." Falcone glared at her.

"And you wear sunglasses at night and indoors," Rosalind replied. "What's your point? Do you want another hit to the head? It isn't fun, trust me. All the shit you've been hiding is going to come to light."

"Oh, don't talk to me about hiding shit, sweetheart." Falcone said. "What about what you're hiding? This secret life you've been living. You're running around with a man in a mask, acting as the hero. But you aren't. You're just a bitch."

Batman tightened his grip on Falcone and kept making him walk forward. Falcone just laughed.

"Oh don't get so fussy," He said to Batman. "So protective. You gotta realize you aren't her only, ah... friend. She sure gets around. You know she's fucking Bruce Wayne too?"

Rosalind couldn't help it. She burst out laughing. She laughed so hard that a few tears streamed down her face. They all just stared at her. Rosalind's laughter subsided and she wiped away a tear.

"Oh buddy," She giggled. "If I was fucking Bruce Wayne do you really think i'd be here right now? I'd have much better things to do."

She glanced at Batman, expecting to see a hint of humor in his eyes. Instead he looked slightly... flustered. Falcone scoffed again, pulling both of them out of their little trance. Gordon was making his way towards them.

"What," Falcone asked with a smile. "Are you with Zorro and Xena over here? Don't you know you boys in blue work for me?"

Gordon scowled at Falcone and Batman handed him off. Gordon escorted him out of the club in front of a crowd of police officers who were looking at him with the same amount of disdain. Rosalind and Batman stepped out behind them.

"I guess we don't all work for you," Gordon said before beginning to read Falcone his rights.

Rosalind felt a hand on her arm and looked to see Selina next to her. She was staring Falcone down. He was looking right back at her. Rosalind reached down and squeezed her hand in solidarity.

"Do you understand?" Gordon asked when he was finished reading his rights.

"Yeah," Falcone nodded. "I'll see you when I walk out."

"Goddamn rat."

They all turned to see Penguin and some of his men exit the club.

"Oh now it's a party," Rosalind muttered under her breath.

"What'd you say?" Falcone asked Penguin.

"Enjoy your night at Blackgate, Carmine," Penguin replied. "Probably be your last."

"Oh so you're a big man now, Oz, huh?" Falcone chuckled.

"Maybe I am," Penguin replied.

"Really Oz?" Falcone asked. "Because to me, you were always just a gimp in an empty suit."

"I'll spray paint your ass!" Penguin exclaimed angrily, reaching into his jacket and pulling out a gun.

Chaos ensued again that night. Rosalind ducked down as a single gunshot rang out. People all around clamored for safety. Several officers grabbed Penguin who resisted.

"What are you doing?" He asked. "It wasn't me! I didn't shoot! Get your hands offa me!"

Rosalind peeked up and noticed that Batman had practically tackled Falcone to the ground. But just as she looked down at Falcone she saw his head drop. She noticed the blood pooling around him. He had been shot after all. Batman looked up at the streetlight that flickered above them.

"Bring him into the light and you'll find where I'm at..."

Rosalind followed his gaze to see someone in the window of a nearby building. The pair looked back at each other with wide eyes.

"More shit to get done," Rosalind sighed as she stood.

JILLIAN SPEAKS!

Summary of the previous chapter:

Was this a short chapter? Yeah. Oh well. We love the return of Rosalind and Batman being a badass duo!!! The way they can go to cute banter to literally beating people's asses is so funny to me.

Question for you guys: I've made a bunch of memes for this fic because I like to think I'm funny. You've seen a. Few of them at the end of previous chapters but I have a whole bunch more. Would you guys be interested in a whole chapter of just the memes I've made? Just for funsies.

Reminder to follow me on tik tok! I make edits and funny videos about my fics. Lately they've all just been about Bestseller. My @ is filmzbuff just like on here. Go give me a follow!

Also we're almost finished with this fic which is crazy to me. I only have about 5 chapters left in my outline and then we're done! But don't worry I have a strong feeling our fave duo will make a return when the Batman sequel comes out.

As always, don't be a ghost reader! I love reading your comments and they really motivate me to write more.

Until next time, love ya!
