Chapter Twenty Nine

Jester's POV:

The knocks continued on the door leading into the high security room. After Joker finished lecturing me on being a good compliant girl, he finally addressed the situation.

“Come in!” He hollered.

The door creaked open, its massive size and steel exterior looking extraordinarily ominous, and in the doorway stood Poison Ivy, behind her was some sort of machine.

“I’ve been expecting you!” Joker sang charismatically.

She entered into the room, the machine being pushed behind her by the Riddler. He made eye contact with me. I smiled sarcastically, watching him struggle to push the heavy machine. He scowled at me, his intelligence was clearly not paralleled with his physical strength.

Poison Ivy leaned up against the wall of the padded room. She looked poised yet bored at the same time. Her eyes rolled around the room and then finally landed on me. A look of concern passed over her face. She approached me.

“Her skin…” she said as she stroked her hand across my wrist, turning it over to reveal the bulging green veins. She then shot Joker a look of concern, I took no notice of it.

“I can feel the hold over her, it’s weakening” she continued, staring into my eyes and lulling me to sleep with her trance inducing voice.

I still felt drowsy from my little spill of unconsciousness, it felt like my insides were clawing their way out. I broke away from Ivy’s touch and sat down on the floor, fearing that I might pass out again.

Before Joker had time to reprimand me or give me more instructions, another knock came on the door. He didn’t even bother to ask who it was instead he just opened it.

This time in walked dear Harley Quinn and the man who was a giant blob of clay. The Clayman...er…Clayface was carrying a body over his shoulder. It didn’t take long for me to figure out who it was; iconic black hair and a bright red, green and yellow outfit…it was Robin.

Firstly I wondered how they managed to knock him out, secondly I wondered how long we had until the Batman came to get him and killed us all.

“Oh goody!” Joker said, nearly jumping up and down once he saw the Bat brat’s unconscious body.

The ends of his thin red lips curled into a smile as Joker turned to Harley and said “Harley dear, I’m quite impressed.” He embraced her in a hug and kissed her on the cheek. Harley squealed with joy. Poison Ivy rolled her eyes, clearly irritated.

“Let’s move people!” Clayface gargled.

He set the teenage boy down on the ground while Joker wheeled out one of the restraint chairs used to subdue inconsolable inmates of the asylum. He handed me a straitjacket and told me to put it on the sidekick of Batman.

Sitting on the ground of a padded room whilst being unconscious, Robin wasn’t nearly as intimidating or annoying as I previously thought he was. His clear bright face shined back at me and his black hair was in a knotted mop on the top of his head. I drowned out the conversation of the super criminals behind me and admired the boy’s looks. Slowly and carefully, I put the straitjacket around him. I feared that he would quickly awaken and scare me to death.

Beams of sweat dripped down my face as I felt another wave of dizziness come over me. I laid on the floor while Clayface picked up Robin and strapped him into the chair with restraint straps on it.

“Get up, Jester!” Joker scolded whilst fiddling with the giant machine that I had taken no interest it. Harley gave me a sympathetic hand and helped me up to my feet.

She gave me a peck on the cheek and said “I’m so proud of you, hunny! You’ve done so well, we’re really gonna get him this time, and then me, you and Mistah J can be a family.”

For some reason, she as well as I, were unaware, or disbelieving, of the fact that I was going to die.

“Harley” the angelic voice of Joker rang out. “Come help me with this!” he beckoned her.

I balanced myself on the arm of the chair containing the Boy Wonder. Another wave of dizziness came over me, black spots formed over my vision and I fell backwards, landing on Robin.

I looked up from my compromising position, a pair of the brightest blue eyes were looking into mine. He had finally come to his senses.

“Annie?” he said groggily.

I found myself wanting to say something, it was like I was choking on my own words. I was fighting with myself. I wanted to say something to him but I didn’t know what. I knew it was the old Annie deep inside me.

“I…I…”

Words were forcing their way out of my mouth. Out of sheer will power, I held them back, I was able to subdue her. I picked myself up off of his lap and gave the groggy boy a severe scowl.

“Annie, please” he begged.

I shook my head at him.

“She’s not coming back, not now, not ever. I’m Jester and this is my family” I said as I pointed to Harley and Joker and the other criminals whom I’d come to adore.

“The girl that you keep talking about is gone. You can’t bring her back because she is dead, deep in here” I pointed to my heart.

“So just get over it! She’s never going to love you, you got her killed and now I’m here to stay. Really, I should thank you because without you, I would never have come to Joker and he would never have saved me from you. I can’t wait to see your corpse buried in the ground!” I sneered, finally finishing expressing my hatred for the masked boy.

I watched him, looking for a response. He just stared back at me with a stone-cold expression. The only slight reaction I could see was in the form of a tear spilling down his cheek. I just smiled, knowing I had hurt him.

A loud yelp of pain sounded out from outside the high security room. A look of worry came across the Riddler’s face as he was working on the machine.  He explained “That must have been Bane…Batman’s coming”

Joker didn’t look very worried as he placed his hand over the finger print scanner of the machine. An electronic voice sang out “Systems ready; toxin loaded.”

“Let him come.” Joker said as he handed me a pistol. I pressed it up against Robin’s temple, showing no remorse as my finger curled around the trigger. I was ready to kill him.

Authors Note:

K guys so the big surprise is....I made a book trailer!!!!!

I wanted to use Tatiana Maslany as Annie but I needed someone in a video with Logan Lerman (Dick Grayson) so I also used Lily Collins but they're both supposed to be Annie.

It should be on the side of this chapter and all the others so go check it out! Leave a comment and tell me what you think of it! It's my first trailer and I worked really hard on it so don't judge me too much. If anyone has any advice on if i should fix anything in it, let me know!

It works best if you use headphones and WARNING some parts might be louder than others (aka the Riddler audio part) just thought I'd let you all know...

Also, first one to leave a comment about the trailer will get the next chapter dedicated to them!
