Chapter Eighteen

Jester's POV

Oh. My. God.

My mind jumped from one thought to another and anger flowed through my veins.

He did not just punch me in the face!

I could feel the anger radiating out of my eyes. I swung my arm out connecting it with his jaw. He stumbled backwards. If his nose wasn’t gushing blood before, it definantly was after I wailed my fist into it again.

He landed with a thud on the ground and before he could pull himself up, I jammed my boot down on his neck.

It felt good to be in power, to have someone literally under your boots. I smirked like a true harlequin and pushed down harder on the boy’s neck. He started to cough.

“Annie…please” the boy pleaded from under me. I looked him in the eyes. They were surrounded by a black mask but still utterly gorgeous. I didn’t know what this boy had done to me before I lost my memory but apparently it wasn’t good, he deserved to die.

I pushed down even harder on the boy’s neck; the coughing turned to sputtering and gasps for air. His light complexion slowly turned blue.

This will teach them to mess with me.

I watched satisfied, as the light began to leave his eyes.

Then out of nowhere, something hit me over the back of the head…hard and knocked me at least ten feet away from the boy. I took a moment to refocus my vision and looked up, even more enraged. The man dressed as a bat was helping the boy up.

I let out a growl and my breathing increased.

How dare he!

To say I was pissed was an understatement; I began to shake with anger. I balled up my fists, ready to attack.

“Come now, Jester” The sweetest voice sang. I looked over at Joker; he stood on the stage next to Harley, motioning for me to come to him. I flipped elegantly over several rows of theater seats, landing gracefully next to him.

“Well, Batman. I think this has been eye-opening for all of us” the Joker said filling the room with his laugh.

Suddenly, the stage erupted in smoke and the spot where we were standing on the stage opened up to reveal a set of stairs.

I followed Harley down the stairs and into a long, narrow passageway. She let out a series of giggles as she ran, I emulated her. The passage way ended and a door stood in front of us. Joker kicked it open to reveal the outside world. A luxurious looking black car was parked by the door.

“After you, ladies” The Joker said as he held the door open for me and Harley, motioning for us to enter. I took passenger seat and Harley sat in the back. Joker literally jumped into the driver’s seat and started the car. I didn’t know where he obtained the keys or the car, but I didn’t care to ask. He smashed down on the pedal and the car lurched forward.

He spun the wheel tightly and we rocketed around streets. The windows where down and my hair was blowing around like crazy. It felt like we were going the speed of light. The feeling was indescribable.

“Did we lose em, Mistah J?” Harley asked after a few minutes of whirling about the city.

“Looks like it” Joker replied, “Bratboy’s probably crying his eyes out cause Jester bested him”

I smiled giddily; it felt so good to be powerful.

After a few more minutes, Joker slammed the car to a stop at what looked like a pier. A nasty looking fishing boat was tied to the docks. The words “K.G. Bird Fishing Company” were painted in black paint on the side.

I followed Joker and Harley on the boat. Once we were on the deck, I could hear voices coming from below us. It sounded like there was some sort of meeting going on. I clambered after Harley, trying not to trip down the dismantled, decrepit stairs.

The voices got louder and louder. Some were shouting, swears were being dropped heavily, others interjecting heatedly. Once Joker walked in the door, they all went silent. Harley and I followed.

“Well gee guys, nice of you to start the meeting without us!” Joker said sarcastically, he then turned to me.

“Jester, I’d like you to meet the Rogues Council.” Everyone’s eyes shot toward me as I entered the room.

“Criminals of Gotham… I’d like you to meet Batman’s undoing.”
