My First story: A Witty Father

Raju was a nine year old, school going boy. He was very mischievous and never obeyed his parents. He always used to get up late and showed little interest in going to school. His parents had a tough time making their son realize his responsibility.

One day his dad was totally tired and thought to find a solution to this problem. His decided to discuss with his colleagues and get some ideas from them. One of his friends said he used force to make his kids obey him. Another one said his kid is very disciplined from the beginning and he doesn't have to work much on him. Another one said he has to bribe his kids for them to obey every day either with chocolates or toys. None of these ideas impressed Raju's father.

That night while everyone was having dinner, Raju's dad got an idea. He said to Raju, "Raju, do you know where does the sun rise"? Raju said, "of course Dad, My science teacher has taught me. Sun rises in the east and sets in the west". Raju's father immediately said, "your teacher is completely wrong. Sun rises in the west". Raju's father knew very well that his son doesn't like his teacher to be proved wrong. As expected, Raju got furious on his father and said "I don't believe you. My teacher can never be wrong"! This was the chance father was waiting for. He said, "if you don't believe me, shall we get up early in the morning tomorrow and check with our own eyes"? Raju agreed.

Next morning at sharp 6'O clock, father got up and went to wake up the son. Raju was initially reluctant to get up. When father reminded him of his last night agreement, Raju got up instantly. Both of them went to their terrace to see where the sun is rising. Seeing the sun rising in the east, he was so excited to prove his dad wrong. He said to dad, "Do you see now? Sun is rising in the east. My teacher was right." To this, Dad replied "Of course son. Your teacher is right. Sun rises in the east. But have you ever seen sun rising before? Look at the sky. How beautiful it looks. You could see this beauty because you got up early. Getting up early has its advantages. Do you want to explore more"? Raju was indulged in deep thought. He nodded his head in agreement with his dad and from then on he never woke up late.
