The After Joke - Part One

Your P.O.V
It was past midnight and you had been working for 10 hours straight At the office.  You assistant had long left for her home leaving you and whatever night staff had been assigned.  Covering your mouth with your hand, you let out a yawn and set down your pen.  "Guess I should head home..."  You mumbled sleepily.
You grabbed the large pile of finished paperwork and dumped it in the basket by the door before grabbing your coat and bag and heading out.  As you walked down the halls, you realized how quiet the office was when no one was around.  You tightened your coat around you.  The silence filled you with unease.
Soon, you heard footsteps and a shadow loom up before you.  You gut tightened in fear but quickly relaxed when you realized it was just the night guard.  "Evening Ms."  He said politely, nodding, his bright brown eyes locking with yours.  "Evening."  You said nodding, giving a small smile.  You couldn't help but feel as though this was the silence before the storm.
The guard noticed your unease and tilted his head slightly.  "Ma'm are you feeling alright?"  You cleared your thoughts.  "Yes. Yes.  Just a bit tired is all.  Carry on."  The guard stared at you for a moment longer before nodding and continuing down the hall.  As his footsteps gradually faded, you thought about what he said.  Maybe you should of asked him to escort you down to your car.
Turning around, you opened your mouth to call for the guard.  "Excu-" Your eyes widened with fear.  Slightly down the dimly lit hall, you could barley make out the outline of the slightly chubby man.  You quickly ran over, pulling out your phone.  "Are you alright?!"  You said.  His head was tilted away from you.  Grasping it gently, you turned it around and fell backwards, letting out a scream.
The guard's bright eyes had grown dim and dilated.  Not only that, his face was twisted into a blood-curdling smile.  You put your hand over your mouth and watched as he gave a sickening laugh.  The laugh got louder and louder and more forced.  The pupils of his eyes focused on you, screaming for help.  As you stared in total fear, the guard began to cough, spewing blood all over your face and clothes.  The red liquid also leaked out of the bottom of his eyes and down his face, mixing with tears.
"H-heellp.. Hee Hee... Me..."  The guard burst out laughing violently, choking on his own blood before finally falling silent.  You stared in shock, shaking violently.  Slowly you got up and took his face into your hands, ignoring the blood that covered you.  "S-sir?"  You quietly squeaked.  You couldn't feel a pulse.  Fumbling with your phone, you quickly dialed the police.
While it rung, you heard the click of a gun and the barrel touch your head.  "I wouldn't answer that if I were you."  The Joker said, letting out a maniacal laugh.  You lowered the phone from your ear just as the attendant on the other side answered.  "That's it."  The Joker said as you placed the phone on the ground.  "We wouldn't want anyone coming to interrupt our fun now would we?"  You thumb pressed the speaker button.  You faced the Joker and spoke loudly but shakily.  "The Dehai Company want nothing to do with you Joker.  Leave this facility at once!"
You prayed whomever was on the other side of the line had heard your cry for help.  The Joker simply laughed and turned your around roughly, dragging the gun under your chin.  "Revenge is best served cold don't you think?"  The Joker said, striating up, gun still pointed to your head.  "Now.. It's time..."  He grinned.  "TO DIE!"  He pulled the trigger and you screamed, pulling your hands up to your face.

Bruce's P.O.V
The Bat-signal was clear against the dark clouds of Gotham.  Wearing the Batman suit, Bruce headed to the top of the police station where he saw Chief Gordon (Ramsey :P) waiting.  "Batman!"  He said as he saw the dark knight perch himself on the edge of the building.  "Thank god you're here!"  "What's the problem?" Bruce said, ruffling up his voice.
Gordon cringed.  "Well it's not good.  The Joker is out again."  Bruce remained stoic.  Seeing he was not going to comments, Gordon continued.  "The worst part is he has a hostage.  Someone at the Dehai company."  Bruce widened his eyes slightly.  "Who?"  He said rather quickly.  "We're not sure.  They called but we were unable to identity the signal before it was lost.  We were able to record it though."  Gordon pulled a recorder out of his pocket and hit play.
[Joker]: That's it.  We wouldn't want anyone coming to interrupt our fun now would we?
[Y/N]: The Dehai Company want nothing to do with you Joker.  Leave this facility at once!
[Joker]: *laugh* Revenge is best served cold don't you think? Now.. It's time... TO DIE!"
Bruce felt lightheaded as he heard your scream over the phone.  Gordon turned away, failing to see the panic in the stoic hero's eyes.  "The signal was lost after that.  We can only assume the caller to be dead but their are others still in the building."  "No!"  Bruce said suddenly, causing Gordon to turn around in surprise.  Bruce cleared his throat.  "No.  I'm sure their still alive.  That was the had of the company.  The Joker would need her if he was to get any leverage."  Gordon nodded and turned back around.  "Well alright then.  We can send a squad with you if you want.  They'll be ready in a few minutes."
Hearing no reply, Gordon turned around.  The rooftop was empty.  Gordon raised an eyebrow.  "Well alright then."  He said sighing.  "I guess we'll meet up when we get there."

A/N: I know it's short but I decided to turn this chapter into two parts.  The next part is partially written but I have a ton of homework I need to finish and you guys deserve something.  I'll try a post during the week but I don't know how that will turn out.  Please forgive me!
