A Visit from The Wayne

Your P.O.V

You had to admit, going up against the joker wasn't one of your most insightful plans but after a month of so, you began focusing back on your campaign.  You still heard about his conflicts with the Batman every now and then on the news but nothing truly serious yet.  Fort the most part, your fear had left.

Despite Bruce not officially endorsing you, Richard often spoke of you highly, letting you gain attention.  Although you had not been raised in Gotham, your high class family and business power boosted your polls to over 80%.

Unfortunately, all the publicity meant less time for paperwork and more all nighters.  That is what you planned to do tonight if it weren't for your assistant running in the room like a madman.  "Ms. Dehai!  Ms. Dehai!"  She scrambled into the room, startling you.  Your hand slipped on the paper, drawing a thick dark line over the agreement you were signing.

"What is it?"  You said standing up.  The fear of the Joker overwhelmed you.  You felt your stomach tighten and sink to your gut.  Your fear quickly died away as you recognized a familiar voice that followed a knock on the door.  "Pardon the intrusion."  Bruce walked into the room.  Your assistant was  grinning.  "Mr. Wayne stopped by to talk with you."  Bruce nodded.  "Forgive me for not making an appointment.

You nodded to your assistant, signaling to her it was ok to leave.  She gestured for Bruce to enter then closed the door with a quiet click.  You slowly sat back down behind your mountain of papers and cleared your throat.  "Sit."  You said gestured to an empty chair.  Bruce stiffened and sat down.  Clicking your pen, you glanced up at him awkwardly, then back down to your papers.  You decided you were no going to talk until he did.  You finished signing a paper and put it in your rather small 'done' pile.

"You know."  He began.  "I am truly sorry for what happened that ni-"  You held up your hand and cut him off.  "It's fine. You no longer need to apologize for that."  You said coldly.  You grabbed another paper and began to read through it.  Bruce said nothing.  Then you sighed.  "Bruce.  You are truly a great man and I admire you but sometimes you can be so naive."  He chuckled and looked at the ground before quickly regaining his composure.  "That is what I came here to talk about Y/N."  You saw his fists clench.

Your eyebrow raised.  "What do you mean?"  Bruce fixed his tie before looking you dead in the eyes.  "Will you do me the honor, of letting me endorse you?"  Your eyes widened and your mouth dropped slightly. He quickly continued.  "I know I've been a bit of a butthead, pardon the expression.  But I am willing to change.  Watching you over the past month or so has let me see that."  Bruce blinked, breaking our contact and you quickly looked away, blushing.  You hadn't realized you had been staring at him with such unwavering attention.  "And what if I refuse?"  You couldn't look him in the eye.

He was silent for a moment.  "Then I will simply leave. . . Y/N."  You looked up at the sound of your name and saw Bruce stand up form his chair and walk around to you.  "I know sometimes I can be a rude, obnoxious, despicable person but..."  You stood up and stared at him.  "I am really trying to change.  Can you help me?"

"Ok I was not expecting that."  You mumbled.  Your looked at him.  "Why ask me for help?  Don't you have Alfred, Richard,... Damien."  He grabbed you shoulders, closing the distance between you.  "Because through all your speeches, all your interviews, I've discovered that we share a lot in common."  "Where are you going with this?"  You asked, confused.  Bruce's cold eyes were lit with emotion, something you never pictured coming from him.

"Y/N. I... I want to give us a chance."  If your jaw could drop any lower, it would look like it had come off completely.  "Us?!"  You managed to squeak.  Bruce spoke quickly.  "I know this is rushed but would you go out to dinner with me?  Any day you want.  You can decide."  "Uh... Tuesday?"  You said weakly.  Your mind was clogged and you felt slightly dizzy.  You leaned into Bruce for support.

"Definitely not what I was expecting."  You said.  Bruce smiled gratefully.  "Then you certainly weren't expecting this.  You felt your lips meet his like two waves crashing together, folding into one another to become one.  You were frozen for a minute before sinking completely into his embrace.  His tongue gained entry to your mouth and both his and your tongue danced together for what seemed like a never ending eternity.

Soon, your need for oxygen became too great and your pushed away from him, panting.  You opened your mouth to say something but your brain refused to work.  Bruce released you and you leaned on the desk for support.  "Ok really not expecting that one."  Bruce gave a small frown.  "Did you not li-"  "No! No!  It was great! It-"  The words that tumbled out of your mouth were finally processed and your face turned beet red.  A soft smile returned to Bruce's face.  You could swear there was almost a pink hue to his cheeks as well.

"So.  Erm.  Tuesday then?  Does 7 work?"  He said as he backed up a bit.  You nodded.  "Yea.  That works with my schedule."  You nodded some more.  All traces of your professionalism long gone.  Bruce pointed towards the door.  "I'll uh.. let myself out."  You nodded and watched him slip out the door.

As soon as he left your legs gave in on themselves and you quickly sat down in your chair.  Sinking into the soft leather, you took a deep breath and placed your hand on your cheeks in an attempt to cool them down.  You sat like this for another minute or so before your assistant walked into the room, carrying a tray with tea.

"Oh!  Gone already?  He should of stayed for tea."  Your assistant walked over to the desk and set the tray down.  You watched her make the tea, not saying a word.  "Are you alright Ms?  What happened?"  She asked as she poured the tea into your cup.  You shook your head to clear your thoughts and sat up.  "Oh um... He asked to endorse me."  You gratefully accepted the cup and took a small sip.  Your assistant's eye shone.  "That's wonderful!"  She exclaimed.  Then her voice lowered.  "But why is your face all pink?"

Bruce's P/O.V

Bruce looked out the window of the limo, thinking.  "Everything alright sir?"  Alfred asked.  "Your usually SO much more talkative."  He added sarcastically, smiling at his own cleverness.  Bruce smiled but remained silent.

"I take it the date is in place?"  Alfred said slyly.  "How did you-"  Bruce began before Alfred cut him off.  "Practicing in front of the mirror again are we?  Haven't seen you do that since you asked the girl in grade school."  Bruce opened his mouth but for one of the few times in his life, he couldn't find a professional excuse.

Bruce looked off to the side as the last of the Dehai mansion disappeared behind the corner.  "There's just something about her.  She's so strong, independent, kind...."  Bruce trailed off before frowning.  "We share almost all the same views and morals.  The only problem is-"  "The Batman?"  Alfred said.  Bruce nodded solemnly.

"Well sir.  Maybe it's not the best idea to take advice from a single old man, but if I were you, I would simply show Ms. Y/N that you can be a kind soul.  Then maybe one day, if all goes well, you can tell her about your 'hobby'."  Bruce smiled.  "Thank you Alfred."  "Anytime sir.  Especially if it means my fanfiction will continue on well."  Bruce's head lifted up.  "What was that last part?"

Your P.O.V

After the whole fiasco with Bruce, you knew you wouldn't be able to work on your paperwork diligently so you decided to simply go to bed.  Now you lay on your silk sheet in a thinking trance.  You couldn't believe it.  The 'Great Bruce Wayne' had asked you on a date.  In truth you couldn't figure out why he asked or why you agreed.

You couldn't quite figure out your feelings for him.  On one hand, a small part of you still hated his for the awful things he said when you had went over for dinner.  However, another part of you screamed in his defense.  He had asked for forgiveness and you deemed it proper to give him a second change.  For you it was an ongoing battle of love and hate and love was winning out.  "You always have to choose the ones who give you the most drama huh Y/N."  You mumbled to yourself.  You turned over on your side.   Sleep would most likely not visit you tonight.

A/N: Alright.  School starts back up tomorrow so I don't know when I'll be able to post again.  I know a lot of people want me to post more Deadpool so I'll try to write that up first.  Schedule will be busier this year but who needs sleep? XD   I wish you all luck on your school/work stuff.  Write more soon!
