Chapter 1: Under the street light

Narrator

Batman peered along the edge of the building, his eyes wandered the streets searching for crime. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a very familiar face...Joker. Batman then jumped down the building and followed him, Joker walked along singing a happy tune as he turned into an alleyway. Batman soon followed after him, once he got to the entrance of the alleyway he seemed to have lost Joker. Batman grunted in annoyance, Joker couldn't have gotten far, it's a dead end. All of a sudden, Batman got grabbed by the arm and slammed against the wall.

"Heya Bats!" Exclaimed the Joker, smiling an uncanny wide smile. Batman then pushed joker off himself and backed away slightly.

"What are you up to, Joker?" He said in a snarl. Joker looked at Batman, somehow his smile got wider.

"Oh you know, walking around. Trying to find a good spot for the light show!"

"What are you on about?" Joker burst into hysterical laughter which only annoyed Batman even more. Batman then grabbed joker by the shirt and pulled him closer.

"What the hell are you talking about Joker!?"

"Oh~ at least take me out to dinner first Batsy."

"Cut the crap, tell me what you're talking about!" Joker smiles once again, he pulled away from Batman and fixed his shirt.

"I'm talking about the little surprise I left on Gotham bridge." As soon as Batman heard those words he quickly grabbed his grappling hook to go over to the bridge. He could hear joker cackling as he soars through the sky.

[On Gotham Bridge]

Batman scurried all over the bridge, searching every corner, he still hasn't found what he could only assume is a bomb. Then, he heard a beeping sound...from underneath the bridge. He couldn't believe himself, why didn't he check there before? Batman quickly ran to the edge of the bridge, he looked underneath it and there it was. As soon as he tried to grab it, it went off. Batman ducked and covered his head, but instead of an explosion it was fireworks. He looked up and stared at the sky, he was embarrassed and enraged for walking straight into one of Joker's tricks. From behind he hears a loud cackle.

"Oooo! I got you good! Hahahaha!"  Joker said happily as he stood next to Batman. Batman said nothing, but his expression told Joker everything he was feeling.

"Oh Batsy, learn to take a joke! Why so serious?" Joker cackled again hysterically. Batman stood up and began to walk away, the Joker soon followed quickly after.

"Hey! Where ya going? The show's just started!" Joker said while grabbing his shoulder. Batman pulled away, and continued to leave.

"I have no interest in watching this with you." Joker frowned in disappointment.

"Of course. But i bet if I was a certain feline, you wouldn't hesitate to stay and watch." This comment struck Batman like a stray bullet, he said nothing but continued to walk away leaving an unsatisfied Joker behind.

Batman, once again on a building, has been thinking about what Joker had said.

'Certain feline.' He thought, he knew who Joker had meant of course, there's not many felines who had a relationship with Batman. Batman hasn't thought about Cat-woman in a long time, not since their messy 'break up'. It brought back some memories for Batman, ones he'd rather forget. He shook his head trying to brush them away and stood up. He decided patrol was done for the night and went home.

Joker

My plan to get Batman here worked! Of course, the part where he stays and has a nice conversation with me is still a work in progress, BUT NONE THE LESS, at least half of it was a success. I stared at the sky, watching the blazing colors paint it's dark void. I will admit, it's beautiful. But a part of me feels as if something was missing, and I knew exactly what it was...Batman. I'm getting tired of this cat and mouse chase, why can't he see we're one in the same? We're made for each other! Destined to fight until the other  dies. And even then, we'll continue to fight in whatever hell we end up in. That very thought gets me all worked up! Spending the rest of our lives trying to kill each other is a just a dream....a dream...just a dream..no, no! I refuse to let whatever we have only be a fantasy. I know what we have is special and very real. If I were to disappear Bats would go nuts not knowing where I am or what I'm doing. Like links on a chain we're inseparable, it's only a matter of time before the end gets dragged back to the other. The only thing that can break us are bolt cutters, so all I gotta do I get rid of them. Get rid of anything that tries to get in between us, I don't care who it is or what I have to do. I'll do anything,

Just for my bats.
