Can We Trust?

Chapter 2

Can We Trust?

Metropolis

Metropolis, a wonderful city that needs to be rebuilt. The horrifying War of Krypton vs Metropolis has cause mass destruction for the city. Luckily Metropolis had a Kryptonian on their side; his name was Kal-El or Superman that's what the people of Earth call him.

Superman has rebuilt half of the city so far including the Daily Planet, which has a Pulitzer prize-winning reporter, Lois Lane, Superman's love. The two met when Lois broke into Superman's Fortress.

Superman was out and about after he finished his work for the day on the rebuilding Metropolis. Now it was up to the two companies who volunteered to rebuild Metropolis.

Superman heard a ringing using his super hearing. A siren went off at a bank. Superman raced there flying as fast as he could. There was a robbery! When Superman got there he saw two mask men with guns and sacks of money in their hands. Kal exploded through the glass doors of the somewhat big bank. There he saw civilians crouching and covering their ears.

"Drop the bags of money." Superman commanded.

"No, alien." One of the robbers bravely said. "You don't belong here. You should go back to this 'Krypton' and stay. Otherwise you don't have rights against us."

This statement jolted Superman in the chest. Superman picked up both of the robbers as they tried to run and get away towards the back door.

Superman with rage threw both of the robbers into the walls. The walls were dented and cracked and the robbers were all bruised up after that throw.

Metropolis Police was intruding through the back door that the robbers wanted to escape through.

Superman was pointing his laser eyes towards the robbers.

"Superman, back down," the lead police officer, Guy Gardner, said in a calm voice. Seeing the red in Superman's eyes he knew what that meant. Superman was going to burn them alive. "Superman, please, think to yourself is really worth it?"

Superman was shutting his eyes. Remembering being in the same exact spot where he actually took a life. But he had to, did he? Superman remembered snapping General Zod's neck and killing him. Zod was the man who led the remaining Kryptonians to Earth, trying to make Earth into Krypton. Seconds before Zod died, Superman had Zod in a headlock but Zod was about to burn a family alive with two children. Superman, though, snapped Zod's neck just in time to save the family. Could he have done something else? No, right? Superman's hands were full. This will be a question he will ask himself his whole life.

"Thanks Superman," Gardner said.

The officers rounded up the two robbers. Superman heard one of Gardner's officers say, "You have the right to remain silent, anything you say or do can and will be used against you in the court of law, you have the right to an attorney if you can't afford one, and then one will be appointed to you."

After that the same robber who said "You have no rights against us," yelled "You really think you could live in this world Superman! You can't! You will just be an alien! No one here will ever trust you because you're an alien!"

Superman flew up to the sky. He shot his lasers into the air because of the rage he was in.

Then he thought, "Will the People of Earth ever trust me?"
