Assignment

Pentagon

The Pentagon, the most high-tech place in America. A building shaped like a pentagon with high tech toys. People say it's "an engineer's dreamland." According to Latin Post, they say they've been inside a, what they call, Top Secret Room. Superman's going to be able to go there. General Swanwick the man in charge during the Kryptonian War has called him over there while he was observing energy by resting in the hot boiling sun. Superman raced over there when he called his name.

Superman walk through the main entrance where he saw guards escort him to the room where General Swan wanted to see him at.

Ten minutes past as they were waiting in a room.

"Where's the General?" Superman questioned.

"He'll be right with you sir." The muscular guard who escorted Superman replied.

"No, where is he? I need to speak to him immediately. I need to get back to Metropolis." Superman said.

"Sir I know-"

"No you don't know. Do you realize how many lives I could save right-"

"At Ease Superman," The General was here. "How are you doing on this fine day?"

"I'm fine," Superman replied irritated.

"Okay that's good. What did one of the robbers say to you the other day when you got so mad you broke one of their hands when they hit a wall after you threw them?"

"He didn't say anythi-" Superman couldn't finish.

"Oh yes he did, you wouldn't have got so mad because no lives were lost." General Swanwick interrupted.

"He said 'You don't belong here. You should go back to this 'Krypton' and stay. Otherwise you don't have rights against us'. He also said 'You really think you could live in this world Superman. Well you can't. You will just be an alien. No one here will ever trust you because you're an alien.'"

"Nice memory. You know Superman, half of what he said is true." Swanwick said.

Superman's eyes turned red.

"You are an alien but I also see why you got mad, you do now have the same rights we do, but since you have powers you have to watch out and control you powers." Swanwick taught.

"I know; I haven't taken a human life." Superman stated.

"Not Yet. But you need to make sure to stay in control of your anger and your powers."

Knowing not to argue, Superman replied, "Ok, I'll be more careful next time."

"But that's not why I called you over."

"Why did you then General?" Superman asked firmly.

"Have you heard of The Batman?" The General asked.

"Yeah, but I don't plan on stopping him anytime soon, Gotham's his turf." Superman said.

"No, it's not," Superman could tell that The General was not happy with what he said, "He takes crime into his own hands."

"Don't I do that General?" Superman questioned.

"Yeah but you are a real hero, you saved the world from super powered beings. Batman on the other hand just assaults and harms officers who try to stop him. You stop criminals in the day but he just scares everyone at night." Swanwick stated, "I need you to take him down."

"No." Superman said.

"It's the right thing to do. He's striking fear in the hearts of the citizens of Gotham, he has been for almost a decade." Swanwick stated. "If you don't, this tyrant keep doing what he's doing for a long time."

"If I do, I don't do it for you or the government or the police, I do it for The City of Gotham. Do I make myself clear?"

"Crystal." Swanwick said.

"Ok then," Superman got ready in his lift off formation.

"Really!? Why don't you just go out the door like everyone else?"

"Because General, it'll take the fun out of it."

Superman took off and broke through the ceiling. He left a big pile of rocks on the brown floor.

"Ferris!" The General called, "Call the roof company! Superman's- Urggh!"

General Swanwick's skin was turning green.

"Sir, are you okay?" Ferris asked. Carol Ferris was an engineering company owner. She is dating test pilot Hal Jordan.

"I'm fine. Kaff, kaff" The General choked out. The General's black suit was turning blue with a red X on it.

"Sir, are you sure?" Ferris asked again.

"YES! Now go do your job!" The General commanded.

The General fell on the floor. Ferris look at him and screamed, "Ahhhhhh!"
