Stitches For Me and Alice

I feel my eyes droop as I climbed up the back of my apartment building when the sun was just finishing coming up. I get to the stairs on the fire exit and climbed through my window and feel into my apartment with a thud. I feel the pain in my leg worsening and the blood had dried on my left cheek. That stupid boomerang slit a line on my mask, I rip it off trying to breathe better. I hold onto the counter in the kitchen to help me stand and I reach for the first aid kit. I groan as my leg feels weak and about to bleed out. Suddenly I hear a noise in my living room. I turn my head feeling my neck crack from the sudden movement, someone is in my apartment. I lose balance and fall to the ground, my vision starts to go blurry from blood loss. My swords make a loud clinking noise against the tile in my kitchen. I grab them and hold them out in front of me just in case. The footsteps get closer and I my eyes go wide at the sight of the intruder.

"Chrissy?!!" Alice yells in shock. I blink in horror as Alice looks at me the same. Her mouth is open wide along with her eyes. I can tell she thinking of something to say but she can't say anything.
"Alice listen-"
"Your Blue Jay?!" She says looking me up and down. I try and move and wince in pain. My vision gets blurt again.
"Alice please just listen to me-"
"Your bleeding! There's blood on your face!" Alice says looking at my face. I close my eyes as I start to feel sick.
"Yes I know, I need you to-"
"You've killed people!! Chrissy you're a killer!" She start to panic.
"Alice stop!"
"You kill for money!"
"Alice shut up!"
"Your messing around with Batman too!"
"ALICE!" I yell with all my strength.
"WHAT?" She yells back.

I start to feel myself drift into unconsciousness.
"Listen, I need your help-"
"What is it?"
"I'm dying from blood loss, I need you to stitch my leg up." I say trying really hard to stay awake.
"I... I don't know how." She says getting down on the floor with me.
"Just get the first aid kit over there and I'll teach you." I say breathless.
"O-okay." Alice says because slowly getting the first aid kit.

"That doesn't look right." Alice says cleaning the blood off her hands. She looks down at the horrible stitch job she had done on my wound. I had managed to teach her how to stitch up a wound, clean a wound and stop the bleeding. I shift on the couch and smile up at her.
"It'll do." Alice puts the cloth down and sits on a chair across from me.
"So your BJ." She says in a whisper. I glance at her and nod my head in shame. She sighs and leans her head back.
"You can't tell anyone, I'm serious Alice."
"You kill people."
"Alice-"
"No Chrissy!" Alice yells.
"I haven't killed anyone, to be clear. I protect the evil, the killing is all the Joker." I say swinging my legs off the couch.
"You work for the Joker?" Alice looks at me with a pale expression.
"Yes, but only because of Batman." I say putting my sewn leg on my coffee table.
"What has Batman done?"
"He's a threat, I can't do my job with him around. So the Joker hired me to kill him. I have three chances, and," I look at my bloody sewn leg, "and I just wasted my second chance." I say sighing. Alice stays quiet, I can tell she's thinking, she's always quiet when she thinks.
"One question."
"What?"
"Why?" Alice asks.
"Why, w-why what?" I ask shrugging my shoulders.
"Why are you Blue Jay, why do you do this?" I stay silent.
"I'm not- I can't talk about it. Not yet." I say feeling tears prick my eyes. I suck in and feel my lungs tighten.
"Promise you won't tell anyone?" I beg. She nods at me and smiles.
"But don't kill anyone." I smile and nod.
"Can't promise anything." I giggled and she rolls her eyes.

For the next few days Alice helped me get better. Alice kept asking about Bruce but I just pushed it off. I haven't seen him since we made up. And I'm afraid to see him now, with my leg. He'll start to worry and I don't want that. Later on the week I was sitting on my couch fixing my suit and Alice was at work (luckily I got sick leave) and there was a knock at my door. I stand up and limp, a little, and stuff my suit under the coach and open the door.
"Bruce? Hi." I say surprised.
"Hey." He says smiling. I notice one hand is behind his back and he's wearing that leather jacket again. He pulls his hand out and it's one rose. I feel the heat rise from my neck into my cheeks.
"A rose for a even more beautiful rose." Bruce says as I hold it softly on my hands.
"What brings you here?" I ask smelling the sweet rose.
"I went to your work and your friend said you were here, at home."
"Alice..." I mutter under my breathe.
"I've come to take you away." Bruce says, I squint at him.
"Where?" I ask.
"That's for me to know, and you to find out."
