Ladies Night Out... With a Twist

Monday's Suck. I smacked my alarm clock off and rolled out of bed. I had spent all night watching and waiting for Batman, only because I didn't want my second chance to be wasted. That stupid Bat didn't show at all last night, so I waited until the sun was coming up over the city's tallest buildings and gave up. I had crawled into bed at about 5:30am and now it was 7am. I sat up and saw that I was still in my BJ suit. I stood up and took it off, being extra careful with my wounds, and got myself dressed for the day. I threw my suit in the box under my bed and grabbed my phone and boots and walked out the door.

Running down the street, I saw people like me, in a haze, half asleep, trying to get to work. I stopped by the cafe for my coffee and walked to work. Once I got there Alice was again, all in a buzz.

"Oh god there you are!!" She said running up to me once the elevator opened.
"What?" I ask as she dragged me out of the elevator and into her office area.
"Blue Jay and Batman had it out in the fanciest restaurant in town! And eye witnesses say she was badass and he was dark and mysterious as always." She says holding up a rough copy of this weeks newspaper. On the front was a picture of me fighting Batman, stupid civilians, taking pictures when we're doing our job.
"So?" I say shrugging my shoulders.
"Well, you went out with Bruce on Friday, were you there?"
I sigh and nod my head. Alice gasps and leans in closer.
"What was it like?" She asks.
"The date or the two people fighting, ruining date night?" I ask rolling my eyes.
"Both?" She asked shrugging her shoulders, I roll my eyes once more.
"The date was fine he was nice as always, and the fight part was intense. Batman led us all out of the restaurant and I lost track of Bruce and left home myself." I say walking away from her.
"Oh really." Alice says trailing behind me. "How is Bruce now?"
I stop and she bumps into my back, I turn and face her, while sighing. "We had a fight." I say not looking at her. Alice's looks at me and frowns.
"About what?" She asked.
"I don't know," I say looking up, than around the office. "Just stuff. He got all mad about Blue Jay and Batman than I got mad. I don't know it was really stupid." I say moving my hands to my pockets.
"Well, how about after work, we go for a girls night out. Just shopping and stuff." She says putting on a smile. I look up at her and nod my head giving a soft smile.

As soon as 5 o'clock hit Alice grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the office. We talked and drank coffee while looking at clothes, and shoes. Now, we walk down the street by ourselves with a few bags, enjoying the empty street.
"Today was amazing." Alice says smiling.
"Yeah it really was." I say looking at her. Her smile is gone and she looks scared. I follow her gaze and see a man breaking into a jewelry store. Alice looks at me and I stand still. I don't help to prevent these types of things, I make sure these things happen. But I'm not Blue Jay right now. Alice starts to slowly walk away.
"Do something." She whispered moving backwards. I turn to her.
"Why me?" I ask confused.
"I don't know, you seem like the type that would fix this problem." She says in a yell whisper. I roll my eyes and drop my bags.

"Hey!" I yell as Alice ducks into an ally. The robber stops and looks at me.
"Uh... Stop right there." I say getting closer. I feel so venerable as Chrissy. I don't have my shock balls, no sword and no cool uniform. The robber takes a small knife out of his pocket. I feel sweat form on my forehead.
"Listen, buddy. I don't want any trouble. Why don't you walk away and act like this never happened. Okay?" I say putting my hand out. He starts to run at me so I turn and run too, hoping Alice is somewhere safe. I run down the block and turn the corner hiding in an ally way. As I stumble into the ally way I bump into a tall figure. I look up and see Batman. My eyes go wide as he pulls me behind him and runs off to get the robber. I watch and Alice comes running to me.
"That's Batman!" She says as he runs off into the right.
"Yeah I know." I say nodding. "Go home, I'll be fine just please go." I say looking at her straight in the eyes.
"Why?" Alice asks looking panicked.
"Just please do so, I'll see you tomorrow. Now please go home." I say sternly, kind of sounding like a mom. She nods her head slowly and grabs her bags and runs off down the street. I watch her turn the corner and disappear. I turn back towards the direction Batman and the robber went and start to run down the street. I know I'm not in uniform, but I have to try and do something. Maybe try and talk to Batman as a civilian?

I turn my last corner and slam into him again. I know it's Batman because his stupid armour is so hard, that it hurts when you run into it, twice. I stumble back and look up at him.
"Thank you, for helping me." I say smiling at him. The words taste like poison in my tung. He says nothing for a moment, he just looks at me.
"You'll get yourself killed. Next time don't go telling at robbers with guns." His voice sends shivers up my spine as he pushed past me.
"I could have done it myself." I say, he stops and looks over his shoulder.
"And risked getting hurt? I don't need your help." He says as I put my hands on my hips.
"Well I'm sorry, I was just trying. Plus you don't even know me, I could have handled it." I say and Batman turns around and looks at me for a moment.
"I'm sure you could have." And with that he left into the darkness, in a blink he was gone. I stood alone on the side of the road and sighed. Maybe I should just go out tonight, as Blue Jay.
