Date Night

I had gotten back to my apartment after work and flopped down on my couch. Why did I agree to go with Bruce tonight? I'm supposed to be out almost every night, keeping an eye out. I sat up as my suit caught my eye in an old bag that I had stuffed it in. I got up from my old worn couch and walked over to the bag picking it up. I took my dark blue suit out and put it in a box under the bed. I didn't have anywhere secret to put it, or a glass case to hold it, so I kept it in an old trunk under my bed. Of course with a key lock on it, and the key for the trunk was always around my neck. I locked the trunk and pushed it under my bed, looking around my room for a moment. What do I wear? I went to my half empty closet and groaned. I only had one fancy dress with a good pair of heels. The one I wore the night I met Bruce was rental, only because I didn't want to wear this dress, that hung in the back of my closet. The won I wore when I ran away.
I remember that night I ran. Running in my heels was not a good idea either. I ran with my dress covered in blood, with the throbbing pain in my lower stomach.

I felt tears come to my eyes and I took a deep breath in. I had cleaned off the blood and stitched the dress once I was out of the city, made my way to where I am now. The road was rough but I seemed to have made it out fine. I looked at the clock which red 5:49pm, Bruce had said at 7, so in one movement I grabbed the dark blue dress which matched my suit, from the closet and headed for the bathroom.

About an hour later I was dressed up with my hair in a braid, the dark blue dress, and some heels. Apply some eye liner, mascara, and a touch of red lipstick, I was ready to go. I thought for moment. What if I need my suit? I grabbed a big purse and stuffed my suit in it before I heard the faint knock on my door, I made my way with my dress flowing back behind me with my heels clicking on the wood floor with ever step I took. I opened the door to see Bruce in his normal tuxedo with that classic smile on his face. I smile and hold the door. "Are you ready?" He asks holding out his hand. I look down at his hand and have second thoughts. I'm wearing this dress that brought pain to me, and I'm going out with a man. "Yes, I am." I say as shaking hand take his. "Are you alright?" He asks as I close and lock my door. I turn to him and plaster a smile on my face. "Oh yes, I'm perfect." He nods his head and leads me outside to his fancy car. Bruce walks ahead of me and opens the passenger door for me, I smile and sit in the car as he closed the door, and walks around and sits into the driver side. He starts up the car and starts to drive. "So where are we doing?" I ask looking at him, as he is focused on driving. "Somewhere very fancy." He says looking at me for a spilt second. I smile and look out the window as the sun sets over the city.

We arrive at the restaurant and the owner is pleased to see Bruce. He sets us in a corner next to the window so we can be alone. I pick up the menu and sigh. "This is... Expensive." I say as my breath is taken away. Bruce looks at me over his menu. "Let me guess, your not used to it?" He says setting his menu down. I smile at him. "You know me so well." My eyes drift off out the window seeing the stars come out, thinking back to when I first saw Bruce. I look at Bruce who is looking at his menu. I smile and look at the menu. We ordered our food and once the waiter was gone Bruce and I said nothing. I glanced at him as he glanced at me. "So how was work?" He asked. "Alright. My co-worker, Alice, the one you meet today-" Bruce nods his head remembering crazy Alice today. "Well, she's so opposed with Batman and this... Other women." I say smirking half at Alice's crush for them, and only me knowing that I'm the women. Bruce narrows his eyes. "I've heard of her. I heard she only comes out at night, she fights the good guys." I lock eyes with Bruce. "How do you know that? The paper isn't going to be published for another week. Only the publishers at my work know that." I say titling my head. Bruce clears his throat as the waiter comes with out food. I don't take my eyes off Bruce who nods at the Waiter as he leaves. "Bruce, how do you know that?" I ask again. "I'm the richest man in Gotham, I get told these things." He says coolly. I nod my head and look down. "What about Batman? What's his story?" I ask, Bruce shoots me and glance. "He's a hero, but in my opinion- a man who dresses in a bat costume is clearly not okay in the head." He says laughing a little. I laugh too. My smile fades away when I start to think, should I tell Bruce who I am. I mean, I really trust him. I feel safe around him. I shake my head as I hear gun shots.

The glass from the windows break as I duck my head feeling Bruce jump over the table, trying his best to shield me from the glass. Suddenly when the class is all on the ground, and Bruce is holding me like a child I hear a cold evil Joker laugh. "Oh no..." I whisper as I cling to Bruce. Then, coming into view is Joker and a handful of his henchmen. I scrambled to my feet as Bruce holds me. "Where are you going?" Bruce asks. "Getting out of here." I say running off with my purse before the Joker could see me. I run to the ladies room where it's empty. I open my purse and take out my uniform. I slip it in and run out sneaking around the henchmen listening to what the Joker saying. "I'm not going to kill anyone, I'm just causing a scene for Batman too come. Then Blue Jay will come and save me, and she can be hired by me." He says the the innocent people that only 5 minutes ago where laughing and drinking wine. I step out from the darkness and stand behind the Joker. He turns and smiles. "Ah, there you are." I tilt my head as I scan the room looking for Bruce, but not seeing him. Suddenly Batman drops from the sky roof making glass go everywhere. He drops down in front of me as the Joker laughed.
"Let the battle began."
