Winter In Gotham

A little late, but at least I got this out before New Year's! I tried to not center all of these around the holidays and focus it more around just winter activities.

Also, enjoy festive Eddie. He's been floating around Tumblr all month.

Riddler: Edward was one of the more festive villains in Gotham (insert image above), so it was no surprise that he wanted to deck his hideout with ribbons, bells, and even fake snow. Seriously, he goes all out. The biggest Christmas tree right in the center of the hideout and lights strung up in every direction. And don't get him started on holiday outfits. He has matching sweaters for the both of you along with some Santa hats/reindeer antlers. Yes, he will try and pull you into public wearing this kind of stuff.

Most of the decorating is done by Edward's henchmen, though he makes an exception for the tree, saving that for the two of you. Well, there was one more exception...

"Y/n-dear~ Could you come over here for a second?" Edward asked in a jovial voice, taking your attention away from the streamers you were wrapping around the 10ft tree. You handed the task off to one of the henchmen before locating the source of Edward's voice, finding him situated just outside of his office, leaning against the wall with a knowing smirk. You knew Eddie well enough to know when he was up to something.

"What did you do, Eddie?" Edward didn't give you a verbal response, choosing to instead tilt his head upwards. You follow his eyes until you spot a mistletoe hanging from above, the sight earning a small hum from your throat.

"Real cute, Eddie." You said, leaning up to press a kiss to his cheek, earning a frown from the redhead.

"That's not where it goes." He pouted, wrapping his arms around your waist so you couldn't run off. You shook your head and turned to Edward with a smile.

"Oh, really? Where does it go then?" Edward wasted no time with crashing his lips onto yours, only leaning back to reply with a "there" before moving to pepper the rest of your face with kisses.

Scarecrow: Jonathan wasn't one to partake in many holidays outside of Halloween. This was mostly due to his complete lack of a social life and complete focus on his work. Life never gave him a reason to be happy for the season until now. Jonathan had once again forgotten about the holiday entirely until you presented him with a gift on Christmas day. A hand brace to help with the pain in his palm from scribbling down note after note on each knew experiment and batch of toxin. While the gift was very thoughtful, and very much needed, Jonathan could only feel an overwhelming sense of dread at the realization that he had nothing to give you. You were more than understanding, brushing off his concerns by saying that it wasn't important and just him being with you was enough. He refused to stand for that. You were one of the few people he cared about on a deep level. Even if he were to take your word as truth, the guilt of would eat away at him.

The very next day, Jonathan was up early in the morning to search all of Gotham for something to gift you and he wasn't the type of person to settle for less. Through sheer luck, Jonathan stumbled across a particular figurine based on one of your all-time favorite movies, one you rambled on and on about the first time you sat him down to watch it. To make matters better, the figurine was a high-quality sculpture of your favorite character.

That night, Jonathan ran up to you in a frenzy, almost running into you in the process. Before you could question him, he held the gift out to you, the thing hastily wrapped with a bright red ribbon tied to the top. And oh, the way your eyes sparkled at the sight of the gift- Jon felt all his worries wash away in that moment, smiling at your excitement as you hugged the figurine close to you before pulling Jon down to plant a kiss to his cheek. He could get used to having you around for the holidays.

Mad Hatter: Baking gingerbread cookies was a practically tradition for you each winter. It was one of the few occasions you had an excuse to go all out with baking and decorating. Jervis being the wonderful boyfriend he is, and having nothing better to do for the holidays, begged to help out. With his eccentric nature and your love for baking, you both ended up attempting the most ambitious gingerbread house you have ever made. It took hours to bake the right amount of gingerbread for the task, but neither of you minded. As always, Jervis took extra pride in decorating the sweet treats, being oh so careful when constructing the house.

At some point, you playfully put some frosting on Jervis's nose, taking his attention away from the task at hand. One thing led to another, and a small war of sorts broke out between you both, leaving the two of you a colorful, laughing mess. Good thing you always had extra baking supplies stored away.

Penguin: "You got it, love?" Oswald asked, stifling a laugh as watched you struggle to keep your balance on the frozen lake, gripping onto his shoulder for dear life.

"Y-Yeah, I think I'm getting the hang of it." You lied, once again trying to steady yourself. Oswald moved to grab both your hands in his and skated in front of you, giving you small tips to help stay up right. Oswald was a natural at ice skating, which you weren't surprised about considering his criminal alias. You on the other hand...

Slowly you began to get the hang of things, picking up the pace as Oswald guided you around the lake, passing other couples and families enjoying the winter atmosphere.

"There you go, Y/n!" Oswald praised, retaking his place beside you to let you skate on your own. You smiled at the small accomplishment, picking up your pace, only to lean too far to one side and go tumbling down. Oswald called out to you and skated over, helping you up in a worried rush that almost sent him falling down as well. You quickly brushed his concerns aside with a laugh, getting back on your feet.

"Glad to see I still have two left feet." Your smile was enough to make Oswald relax, though he was still concerned, concluding that you needed a lot more practice on the ice. Good thing this year's winter was supposed to be a long one.

"How about you hold on to me for time being?"

Two-Face: What better way to celebrate the year coming to an end than with a good old firework show and some wine? You managed to drag Two-Face up to the roof of his hideout to watch the fireworks be set off just above the shoreline, the lights illuminating the usually dark sky. While Two-Face didn't care too much about the light show, he couldn't help but find your child-like enthusiasm heartwarming. Neither could say no to your request. Plus, it was a great excuse to cuddle up to keep warm as you pointed out each firework that caught your eye. It was a nice way to conclude the year, just enjoying each other's company and reminiscing.

All was well- until a loud bang echoed through the air, one of the boats blazing up as all the fireworks went off at one followed by one in particular shooting into the air, exploding to show an all too familiar sight of the clown prince of crime.

"Looks like Joker escaped from Arkham again." You noted, disappointed by the sudden interruption, smiling to yourself when you saw a cloaked figure swoop over to investigate the scene.

"Of course. Man can't take a break." The two complained followed by Harvey taking a swig from his wine glass. You carefully put your own glass aside, pretending to stretch your arms with a yawn.

"Well, since that's over with..." You trailed off, letting your arms find Harvey's tie and pull him closer to you.

"I thought you had to wait 'til midnight, doll?" Harv chuckled, leaning in closer with a smirk.

"You know I'm impatient."

"So am I."

Harley Quinn: You dropped to your knees just in time to avoid yet another frozen projectile, the snowball souring over your head as you dived behind a wall of snow you had made before this whole battle broke out. You and Harley had decided to go to Gotham Park to take in the festive lights stung about and somehow managed to get wrapped into a huge snowball fight with some teenagers. Not that either of you were complaining. You could hear Harley's laughter fill the air as she copied your actions, ending up right next to you with a huge grin.

"Hurry up, Y/n! We need more ammunition!" She ushered between giggles before trying to steady her breathing.

"I'm trying!" You replied as your gloved hands dove into the snow, rolling up more projectiles to be hurled. Harley moved to grab them from you and peered around the snow wall, her eyes gleaming at the sight of a close target. There stood a young boy, looked about 16, with his back turned to the both of you, looking around for another target. Harley leapt to her feet and pushed the snow down the back of his shirt, sending the boy into a fit. Some of the other kids turned to laugh before aiming their sights towards Harley, who in her own fit of laughter didn't notice the snowball flying towards her until it decked her in the side of the head. She tumbled to the ground with a gasp before giving the most dramatic "death" scene you've ever seen, pulling more laughs from the crowd. You rolled your eyes and smiled fondly at the scene before walking over to her, crouching beside her head.

"You okay?"

"I might be, if I receive a true love's kiss?" She asked, opening one eye to look up at you.

"Really Harley?"

"Yes, really!"

"If it helps." You shrug, lowering yourself to place a gentle kiss to her lips, watching her squeal in delight and pull you closer, knocking you off your feet and into the snow with her.

"Ew!" Some of the teens joked while others tried to mimic the scene with whoever they fancied.

Poison Ivy: "Are you still cold?" Pamela asked in a hushed voice while handing you your cup of coco, taking a seat next to you on the couch. You replied that you were now fine, lifting up the many blankets placed over your shoulders to let Pamela scoot in, the two of you huddling close as a snowstorm raged outside. Pamela hated winter with a passion due to how it killed off so many plants and wilted others. Not to mention the commercialization of Christmas trees. To make matters worse, this winter was particularly harsh. All the better reason to stay inside. Not like either of you had any holiday plans.

"Thanks, Hun." Pamela thanked you as she moved to cuddle next to you, taking a sip of her own hot drink. Despite the storm outside, the moment was peaceful. A domestic bliss you rarely got to enjoy with each other due to your crime sprees and the occasional trip to Arkham for Ivy. The radio played gently in the background, singing soft carols that you both hummed along to. You both remained like that for the night, finishing your drinks and resting for the night in each other's embrace, dreading the coming freeze that was bound to give you trouble in the morning.
