The Good and The Bad

Requested by aPANfulMistake

Summary: Disconnected from the other scenarios, how would the rogues be with a s/o that is deeply uncomfortable with their criminal side?

Warnings: A bit angsty for some of these

Riddler: It would be difficult to start a relationship with Edward since he's very proud of being the Riddler. So you being against his whole villain persona would be a big blow to his ego. If you do somehow manage to get into a relationship with Eddie, or if you were with him long before his spiral into crime, there is a chance you can be the one to drag him out of crime for good. Edward's initial crime was getting revenge on his old boss, but after that he was mostly in it for the attention and his obsession with exposing the bat. However, if you shower him with enough attention and the two of you have been together long enough for it to be really serious, he might just drop the title of Riddler for good... or at least commit crimes very sparingly and in secret. He's good at hiding things after all. Most if not all of these crimes would only focus on killing the bat for good. Once that foolish vigilante's out of the picture and Edward's proven the better man, he plans on burning all his Riddler gear just like he did at the tail end of his 'redemption' episode.

Scarecrow: (For this scenario, you meet each other under different circumstances)
Very understanding of your concerns but also very much heartbroken. Unlike Edward, Jonathan can't give up his title as Scarecrow so easily especially when there's so much research to be done! Not to mention he still had to get revenge on Batman for making such a mockery of him. I don't see the two of you ever really starting a romantic relationship at all. Not that Jon doesn't long for something with you and you the same, it's just that he knows it wouldn't work out. Unless you could accept this darker side of him, there wasn't much to be done. Jonathan would start to push you away more and more, might even try to cut ties all together. He never lets it show just how torn up he is about the whole thing, but his fellow rogues know better and try to cheer him up to the best of their abilities, which may or may not work depending on who tries.

Mad Hatter: Completely and utterly devastated.
"Oh no, please! No need to be frightened, little hare. I would never do anything to harm you!" Practically begging you not to leave him and might even contemplate mind control. If you agree to be with him but tell him he has to drop being a criminal, he would be a little apprehensive but ultimately agree because he couldn't imagine living without you at this point. Here you were, a real person willing to share all your love with him as long as he could behave. How could he possibly pass this up? Chances are the two of you find a way to move out of Gotham after Jervis gets out of Arkham, this time being released instead of breaking out, and start a new life elsewhere. Jervis is one of the only people here to fully put his criminal past behind him, though his obsession with Wonderland is still clearly present and he does keep in touch with some of his rogue friends, often writing to them when he gets the chance. Overall, very happy with the change and gets to live out that perfect domestic bliss he always longed for.

Penguin: He's the most willing to give up being a criminal for love (since we've already seen him do it once for Veronica before he found out she was using him). Considering his experience with Veronica, it would take a bit to get him to fully agree due to his paranoia, but once he knows you're true and not trying to play him for a fool, you have him all to yourself. Oswald has his business to fall back on for money and doesn't rely as heavily on crime as a way to make ends meet or get revenge as some others on this list. While he'll never be able to fully shake off his past as the Penguin, there's no denying he becomes a genuinely better person after you two get together. He's still not a man to be messed with, however. He may not be a rogue himself anymore, but he still has connections.

Two-Face: (Basically the same as his actual girlfriend in the series that shows up occasionally)
You play a dangerous game with these two. For starters, if you can't accept the both of them and their more negative qualities, you can't date them. Harv makes that very clear and may grow a certain distain for you. Harvey still obvious cares for your safety and cuts ties with you so you can live a normal life without all their drama. However, that doesn't mean they stop caring. If they ever hear that you got into trouble with some other rogues, Two-Face would be on the scene as quickly as he could get there. Two-Face makes it obvious to other criminals that you shouldn't be bothered or else they have to put up with him, which deters most from involving you in their schemes. If you're so inclined to do so, Harvey wouldn't mind a few visits in Arkham. Batman may use the feelings Harvey has for you to try and calm him down in some situations.

Harley Quinn: At first you two are on rocky terms. On one hand, Harley gets why you're so standoffish about the whole criminal thing, but at the same time she feels becoming Harley Quinn was the most liberating thing she's ever done and takes it with pride even after breaking off from the Joker. She tends to have a snarky attitude about the whole thing too. "Jeez. Judgmental much?"
But she does a full 180 the second she starts catching feelings. Now she's obsessed with how you perceive her, wanting to be nothing but the best for you (it bears repeating that Joker really didn't teach her how to have a healthy relationship). You want her to quit crime for good? Sure thing puddin'! Anything for you! She does her best to stay squeaky clean and out of Arkham, though she does have a few hiccups every now and then; feels absolutely terrible about them and begs for your forgiveness after. The relationship's hard to comment on since you are teaching her how to be a better person and re-enter society, but at the same time she stills needs to learn how healthy relationships work and to respect herself more. It could work, but you need to put in a lot of work to make it healthy.

Poison Ivy: (Another character that you would have to meet under different circumstances)
Chances are you never start dating in the first place. If you can't accept all of her, then you don't deserve her. That's how she sees it. Yes, it hurts her, but that's just how life is sometimes. She would be one of the most bitter over the whole thing. Very spiteful and might even try to involve you in one of her revenge plots just for messing with her feelings like that.
