Being Sick is the Worst

Requested by Frozen_Soda

Summary: Basic sick scenarios/headcanons. You can view this as a follow up to Rainy Day Activities if you want. I decided to kill two birds with one stone and make scenarios for when you get sick and when they get sick.

Riddler: If you happen to be feeling down in anyway shape or form, even the smallest of headaches or a sniffling nose, and Edward will be all over you demanding that you get some rest. He is already very doting and that only gets turned up to 11 when you're ill. He would take some time off from his villainy to be with you 24/7, making sure you don't have to lift a finger as you recover. Want anything, just ask! Edward would move heaven and earth to get you what you need. Still very affectionate even if he risks catching what you have.

Now if Edward was to be sick, he's a very mixed bag of emotions. On one hand, he wants to get up and work on a new trap for Batman and Robin. On the other hand, he feels absolutely dreadful and is a little bit of a baby about it. Might try to compromise and work from bed if you don't stop him which doesn't work out since he ends up struggling to stay away. Sleeps almost all the time when sick. Also clings to you a lot when he's sick; very mopey but still smiles when you return his affection. Get ready for a good amount of complaining when it comes to taking medicine, though he still will take the medicine unless he's feeling playful which usually means he's getting better. Has his or your whole place sanitized and cleaned to perfection after either of you or sick because he's a neat freak like that and doesn't want to repeat this situation anytime soon. Would definitely order his goons to do the cleaning though while you two go out to celebrate.

Scarecrow: It would take a minute for Jonathan to realize you're sick unless you outright tell him, which would probably happen since you have to call in and explain why you can't help him gas half of Gotham. Once he knows this, he's by your side in an instant. Now Jon doesn't stress over you as much as some other rogues, but he still wants to be by your side to monitor your condition. You are one of the few people he actually cares about, so of course he's going to want to take care of you. Jon is the best at making sure you take your medicine and giving you a distraction from your condition (ex. giving you books, putting on your favorite movie, just talking to you, and so on). Once you start to get better, Jon will slowly go back to his work but still stick around, usually working in the next room over encase you need him. Don't expect much affection from him for a while though. He can't risk getting sick when there so much research he still has to do, y'know?

On the other hand, Jon is horrible to deal with when he's sick. I mean, he's in full on denial. Unless he physically can't get up, he will try his damndest to continue on as if nothing's wrong. Again, he has work to complete! You have to manhandle him into bed to get him to rest and be ready for him to complain at the start. He is not sick! He can take care of himself! But his raging fever and the dark bags under his eyes say otherwise. Not to mention how he often loses his voice when ill, which only makes it more difficult for him to argue his case on why you're overreacting. As you continue to nurse him back to health against his will, he slowly but surely lightens up and vocalizes his gratitude more.

Mad Hatter: It's no secret that Jervis can be a huge worry wart when it comes to you. So, when you tell him or show any signs of not feeling well, he freaks out (internally) and insists you go to the doctor about it. Even if it's just a little cough or allergies, "You never know, my dear". A bunch of "What ifs" are thrown around until you know exactly what you have. He visibly relaxes after the news, unless it's something really bad, and makes taking care of you his top priority. No crimes, revenge plots, or anything of the sort until you're back in tip top shape! He's at your call for as long as you need and is happy to make you some tea or soup when needed. Would try to make any liquid medication more tolerable by mixing it with other foods/drinks or just giving you something sweet/sour/strong to drown out the taste after. Another person that is very cuddly even in these situations, not caring if he gets sick later on. He can't bring himself to say no to you after all.

Jervis confides with you about not feeling well in the first place. He melts into your grasp as you gently lead him to bed to rest, going along with anything you need him to, except taking medicine cause yuck! Why does it have to taste so horrid?! No, he is not acting like a child. Now, while Jervis is completely fine with giving you affection while you're under the weather, don't expect him to let you do the same. He would never forgive himself if you got sick just because of him. Make him some tea and maybe set up a humidifier. He will be eternally grateful.

Penguin: Can tell by just one glance that you're under the weather and makes sure to clear both your schedules. Oswald doesn't baby you as much as some others on this list, but he still likes to stick around when he can and take care of you as best he can. He uses a lot of tricks his mother used on him in his youth which work wonders for your ailments. Encourages you to move around when you can instead of keeping you confined to a bed/couch (*glares at Eddie and Jervis*). When you need to see a doctor, Oswald always makes sure you get the best care in all of Gotham.

When Oswald gets sick, he gets it bad. I mean, barely get out of bed or move a muscle type of bad. So be prepared for that. Grab him some herbal tea, blankets, and put on a good show or the radio to keep his mind occupied when you're running about. He makes sure to voice his gratitude every chance he gets, even if his voice starts to give out. It just feels so nice for him to have someone sweet like you around to rely on; that's something he hasn't had in a long time.

Two-Face: For starters, don't expect to hear much from Big Bad Harv outside of a few grumbled comments and the occasional instruction when you refuse to take your medicine or accept their help as Harv isn't the best at taking care of others or being gentle in any sense of the word. So you'll be hearing a lot from sweet old Harvey. He's better at giving reassurance and making sure you're comfortable despite your condition. He's great at following your instructions or the doctors and sends his goons to fetch you medicine and other supplies so he can stay by your side. Both get very snappy if anyone tries to disturb you or tear them from you for too long.

Very grumpy. Be prepared to deal with Harv most of the time who is more irritable than ever. Definitely tries to push through the pain and fatigue to continue with his 'work'. That is until they have a particularly bad encounter with the bat that almost lands them in Arkham, the last place Two-Face would want to be when sick.

Harley Quinn: Overbearing. That's the best way to describe her. You know she means well, but it's a bit harder to put up with Harley's overly lovey-dovey nature when you feel like your own body's working against you. You would have to ask her to speak in a more hushed tone considering her usually load and shrill voice, something she takes into account and tries her best to whisper around you (she has a few slip ups every now and again but she's trying her best for you). Actually enjoys taking care of you like your own personal nurse... would show up dressed in a nurse outfit just to commit to the role. Take that as you will. Again, not the best cook, so she would pull in a favor from Ivy to make you the best soup known to man. Only the best for her poor y/n!

Let's be real, she probably got sick from you. Harley's kisses stop for nothing, even pesky germs. Complains often when ill but would never blame you or regret being all over you when you had what she now has. She is the worst about taking medicine. I'm talking about pinning her to the ground and forcing her to take the stuff or else she'll just suffer. Harley can be a picky eater and tends to eat crackers a lot instead of soup. Bundles up under piles of blankets and just stays like that (would ask if you want to join her before drifting off to sleep). Loves cuddles and will try to convince you to snuggle up with her.

Poison Ivy: So you know how she babies her plants and such? Yeah, that's you right now. Always talks in a low, soothing voice unless you ask her to speak up. Soft touches as she leads you to lay down and goes to fetch some medicine to help. Knows the best combination of meds to make your ailments practically vanish. Won't hover over you like Harley but would check up on you and ask you how you feel. Will stay if you ask her too. Pamela makes the best soup and has plenty of other snacks on hand for weak stomachs.

It's quite rare for Pamela to get sick, but not unheard of. She's the type of person to keep that knowledge to herself since she doesn't want to bother you or make you worry. She knows how to care for herself and would mostly ask you to care for her plants in the meantime. Would ask for a few more favors if she's feeling really bad though. Refuses to see a doctor and tries to self-medicate, which usually works.
