kill all your friends (part two)

(trigger warning for violence, fainting, and caps lock)

"Batman," Commissioner Gordon said into Bruce's earpiece. "We have custody of the Joker and are interrogating him at the GCPD."

Bruce quickly fell into his Batman voice. Although he did not have his cowl or voice modulator on, he was able to replicate the grit.

"I'll be there," was all he said before he muted the earpiece's mic.

Bruce pressed a button on his watch: a tracker that would send his coordinates to the Batmobile and automatically drive it to him. It would have one of his batsuits inside, as well as some of his armory. It was always better to be prepared with a criminal as unpredictable.

When Bruce arrived at the interrogation room, he saw Jack sitting at the table, slouched in his chair and looking small without his jacket, coat, or weapons. Meanwhile, Bruce was fully armed.

"Joker," he growled.

Jack suddenly sat up straight in his chair and jumped onto the table. "Batman."

Bruce bared his teeth and grabbed Jack off of the table by the throat, then pressed him into the nearest wall.

"Grrk..." Jack choked, grinning through the pain, "I — heh — missed you."

Once Bruce got the information out of Joker, he opened the door to leave the room. A battered and bruised Jack sat in the corner of the room, tending to his fresh wounds.

"They'll just send me back to Arkham," Jack rasped quietly.

Bruce wanted to hear what Jack had to say, but didn't speak or turn around. He only paused.

"I don't do... the stealing... the killing — ha — for the money — ughh," Jack cut off as he tried to sit up. Bruce had probably broken a few of his ribs. "I do it... for you."

Bruce's shoulders tensed.

"I want you to realize... just what you've — hahaha — done," Jack continued. "You've — ha... ha — you've stolen our lives." A moment of silence before Jack added, "You think Arkham'll fix me? HAHAHAHA!"

Jack coughed, his sudden spurt of laughter causing him pain. "You... wish..."

Then he slipped into unconsciousness.

Bruce left the room hastily. Gordon, who was peering through the window of the interrogation room, watching it all unfold, gave Batman a stern nod.

"I hope you got what you wanted," he said.

Bruce took a deep breath. He opened his mouth to speak...

And walked out of the station.
