Chapter 5: Injustice

There's cut content for this Chapter. You can find it at the end of this Chapter.

3rd Person P.O.V.

Steven was transported to a room after he was taken to Homeworld by Aquamarine and Topaz. However, Steven realized not all the kidnapped humans were rescued. Lars was still on the ship when Steven surrendered, he was hiding.

This felt like a massive punch to the gut for him. The only reason why he's here is to safe him and everyone else, yet Lars ruined it a little bit. Steven hasn't seen him since.

He hopes they haven't killed him, that blood would be on his hands. He's the reason why his friends got kidnapped in the first place, at least, that's what he thinks. He's responsible for Lars' well being.

Right now, he doesn't know what to do or where to go, there's nothing in the room, nothing! But the door opens up.

(Blue Zircon) This ridiculous! 4000 years of loyal service to the court, and this is what I get? Oh, I'm the unluckiest zircon in the galaxy. (gasp) Wait, are you… Rose Quartz?

(Steven) Yeah.

(Blue Zircon) Really?

(Steven) It’s a long story.

(Blue Zircon) Then I don’t have time for it. Ugh! We only have this brief moment to prepare you're case.

(Steven) Case?

(Blue Zircon) Ugh! Who am I kidding?! This is pointless! We’ve all heard the rumors about the demise of Pink Diamond, but I can’t believe these files! Shattered by one of her own soldiers, HA! In front of her entire entourage! And look at you now, that ridiculous disguise is only going to make you look more guilty!

(Steven) That’s fine, because I am!

(Blue Zircon) Well, don't say that! Especially not when you’re out there!

(Steven) Out where?! What’s going to happen?!

(Blue Zircon) What did you think was going to happen, Rose Quartz?! As soon as that door opens, you’re going on trial!

The door opens.

(Steven) Uh oh…

In the courtroom.

Lights illuminated and another zircon appeared.

(Green Zircon) Defending a rebel? Isn’t that… treason? (chuckles)

(Blue Zircon) I was assigned to this!

Lights illuminated once again, revealing two figures.

(Yellow Pearl) All rise for the luminous Yellow Diamond!

(Blue Pearl) And the lustrous Blue Diamond.

Once again, lights glow and appear the conquerors themselves, With Yellow Diamond being 6’2” and Blue Diamond exactly six feet tall.

(Blue Diamond) Where is the accused?

She sounds confused, not expecting what she sees in front of her.

(Yellow Diamond) Is that Rose Quartz?

She looks at Steven.

(Yellow Diamond) Look at this hideous form she’s taken. Forget the trial, we should shatter her just for looking at that.

(Blue Diamond) No, I want to hear her make her case. I want to know what she thinks we’re going to do with her, because I want to do something worse.

She coldly says while giving Steven a death glare. Yellow would normally be impressed with her intimidation, but her lust for Rose Quartz shattered blinds her from her proudness of Blue. Steven is more scared than he’s ever been before, now he has an idea on what the criminals feel when Batman is hunting them.

(Yellow Diamond) FIne.

Chairs appeared behind them.

(Yellow Diamond) Let’s just get on with it, shall we?

They sat down.

(Green Zircon) My Diamond, Rose Quartz committed a crime so unprecedented that one can’t help but wonder, why? Exhibit A:

She snapped her fingers and Lars appeared in the room.

(Steven) Lars!

(Lars) Steven! What’s going on here?!

A green bubble formed around his head.

(Lars) (Muffled speech)

(Green Zircon) As we can see from this specimen, humans are loud, absolutely hideous creatures that serve no purpose whatsoever. What sort of gem turns on her own kind for this? I’ll tell you what kind, that kind.

She points at Steven.

(Steven) Just let him go! He’s got nothing to do with this!

(Green Zircon) There it is: the passion, the fury, that caused the diabolical Rose Quartz to shatter her own Diamond! But I know what you’re thinking, “this thing doesn’t look like a Rose Quartz.” And for that, I would like to call an eye witness!

A third podium appeared and it was a ruby Steven remembers.

(Steven) Eyeball?

(Eyeball) Do not address me, war criminal!

(Steven) Nice to see you, too.

(Eyeball) I heard it straight from her. She said, “I’m the mighty Rose Quartz. I’ve got her shield and everything!” And then, she threw me into space!

This unleashed an unfamiliar emotion Steven hasn’t felt before, pure anger. This wasn’t an annoyed anger, this was infuriating anger, and now he’s about to not mince words on what he feels right now.

(Steven) Oh, quit lying, you small, puny runt!

Everyone was taken aback by his response to her openingly mocking him.

(Steven) You were too stubborn to believe me when I tried telling you the first time. Then, you tried to kill me after I healed your gem, so I had to defend myself! And by the way, I could’ve just let you fly around in space with a cracked gem to die! And even if you lived, your crew would laugh at your injury and when you’re brought to Yellow Diamond, she would’ve shattered you for being incompent, isn’t that right, Yellow?

Steven then realized he just spoke all of that. And what he heard next clearly shocked him even more.

(Yellow Diamond) She has a point.

(Blue Diamond) Yellow, you cannot be serious!

(Yellow Diamond) I’m not defending her. I’m just stating that her accusation is correct.

Wow, even Yellow Diamond gives her opponents credit when it’s due. Too bad her temper and blunt attitude covers her accountability. The green zircon didn’t expect the outburst, but improvised on it.

(Green Zircon) As you can see, she admits she has a healing power for gems, and no other gem has that other than Rose Quartz. I rest my case.

(Blue Zircon) Oh, she’s good.

She admits defeat, and she hasn’t even started yet.

(Yellow Diamond) Well, I’m convinced. Time to execute.

She displayed some joy in her tone.

(Blue Diamond) Not yet. The defense still has to speak.

(Blue Zircon) Right! Well, uh… Before I start my very, uh, though-out defense, I’d like to remind the court that Rose Quartz did turn herself in.

(Yellow Diamond) The Court remembers, and the Court does not care.

(Blue Zircon) Uh, of course! Uh, in--innocent! Uh, the word “innocent” can mean, oh, many different things.

She doesn’t have a plan or a defense to build on. All she has is her assignment orders and was given two minutes to strategize while her opponent has a witness and an exhibit. Talk about a fair and unprejudiced trial.

(Steven) I did it!

(Blue Zircon) Wha-What, WHAT? Stop!

(Blue Diamond) No. I want to hear what she has to say.

She gets up from her chair and approaches the hybrid, towering over him.

(Blue Diamond) Carry on.

(Steven) I’m Rose Quartz and I’m guilty.

(Blue Zircon) Wait! No, don’t say that!

(Steven) Everything you said I did, I did. And I did it by myself. I’m sorry. I’ll accept any punishment you want to give to me. Just let him go and leave the Earth alone.

(Yellow Diamond) HA! Sounds like a solid confession to me.

(Blue Diamond) How? How did you do it?

She sounded like she had been ready to speak those words.

(Blue Diamond) How did you shatter Pink Diamond?

(Steven) I did it on Earth, in front of Pink Diamond’s palanquin. And I used… um… what was it? The Breaking Point?

(Blue Diamond) IT WAS A SWORD!!!

She screamed, activating her power which caused everyone in the room to tear up.

(Blue Diamond) You… shattered her… and now I’m going to do the same thing to you!

She reveals a knife she had hidden up her sleeve and she grabbed Steven’s shirt and lifted him up so she can pierce the knife slowly into his gem, wanting to watch him die. Yellow smiled, ready to put an end to Rose Quartz once and for all. Blue had the knife close to his gem and--

(Blue Zircon) WAIT, MY DIAMOND!

(Blue Diamond) What?

Her voice was laced with venom, as well as disappointment since she was interrupted.

(Blue Zircon) There are two reasons why you shouldn’t execute the defendant here. If you execute her personally here, it would be unlawful and unofficial, regardless if the defendant is guilty or innocent, breaking the rules.

(Blue Diamond) So?

She just demonstrated disregard for the rules.

(Yellow Diamond) We can bend the rules this once.

(Blue Diamond) Give me a real reason why I shouldn’t shatter her here.

(Blue Zircon) Based on her actions, it shows that she’s willingly throwing herself to be guilty, knowing that she could be shattered. Maybe she’s not Rose Quartz and she’s a decoy. That means, what you’re holding is a martyr, and shattering her would only be a part of Rose Quartz’ plan. And how she forgets about committing the crime in the first place only proves that this here is a martyr, an innocent gem covering for Rose Quartz. It wouldn’t be fair for a gem to pay the price for a crime she never commited.

Blue seemed unconvinced, but Yellow on the other hand,

(Yellow Diamond) Ugh! You may have a point.

Blue dropped Steven. She doesn't go back to her chair, she just stands there.

(Blue Diamond) We don’t know for sure.

(Blue Zircon) Exactly, my Diamond. But we can’t just jump to conclusions without concrete evidence.

Yellow seemed very displeased with the information she’s hearing.

(Blue Diamond) What are you suggesting?

(Blue Zircon) We should think about the facts here. This Rose Quartz doesn’t know what happened on Earth all those years ago, and she may have the abilities she has, but who’s to say there aren’t many more gems like her with the same abilities?

(Yellow Diamond) This is your counterclaim? You’re saying this here is a martyr and she has no clue of what’s going on? She could be lying.

(Blue Zircon) Very true, my Diamond. But you have seen a lot more liars better than what she’s displaying?

(Yellow Diamond) (sighs) Yes…

(Blue Diamond) Whether she's a martyr or not, she's still associated with Rose Quartz, which is illegal.

(Blue Zircon) But she could've been manipulated by Rose Quartz herself. Think about it. This is all a ruse and she's just watching it all and this right here, isn't her.

(Blue Diamond) But it has a gem. And that gem looks like hers.

(Blue Zircon) But she isn't the only Rose Quartz there is.

(Yellow Diamond) We've bubbled all the Rose Quartz there was.

(Blue Zircon) Did you?

(Yellow Diamond) Yes.

(Blue Zircon) Are you certain?

(Yellow Diamond) Yes.

She sounds impatient.

(Blue Zircon) Do you know the exact number of Rose Quartz' there is?

(Yellow Diamond) How is this relevant?

(Blue Zircon) Because you claim that you've bubbled all of the Rose Quartz' and if that's true, you should know how many were produced by Pink Diamond.

(Yellow Diamond) Pink is the only one who knows the number of gems that were produced on Earth.

(Blue Zircon) Then you cannot say that this is the last Rose Quartz if you don't know the number of all existing Rose Quartz'.

(Blue Diamond) I can disprove your claim.

She states coldly.

(Blue Diamond) The gem placement is the same as Rose Quartz that shattered Pink Diamond. She has demonstrated her abilities in front of at least three gems accounted for. And she has the healing ability.

(Blue Zircon) Well, we can't tell if the eye witnesses are exaggerating the truth. And we have no photographic and/or footage evidence to prove her healing ability.

(Blue Diamond) Let's see.

(Blue Zircon) Huh?

She jabs the knife at the zircon's gem, cracking. She screams in pain and falls to the floor, clutching her gem. Everyone in the room is unsettled by Blue's decision, including Yellow.

(Yellow Diamond) Blue, that wasn't--

(Blue Diamond) It is.

She interrupts Yellow.

(Blue Diamond) Go on, Rose. Heal her.

Steven doesn't know what to do. Let the zircon die and prove everyone in the room how wrong they are. Or save her and probably get himself killed.

This isn't an easy choice. The zircon doesn't have a lot of time left and very soon, she'll be shattered. Blue keeps looking at Steven, expecting him to heal the zircon.

Steven licks his hand and placed it on the zircon's gem. It healed her gem.

(Blue Diamond) I knew it.

She twirled the knife and approached Steven. Steven activated his shield and threw it at Blue like how Batman throws his Batarangs. It hits Blue right in the face and she drops the knife.

Steven quickly rushes to Lars and pops the bubble on his head.

(Steven) We have to go, now!

(Lars) Where?! Oh, behind you!

Steven turns to see Blue throwing the knife. It hits Lars' stomach and it penetrates into him.

(Steven) Lars!

Steven pulled the knife out but it only made things worse when the blood starts squirting out more. Steven couldn't focus on Lars bleeding since both Diamonds were charging after him. Yellow jumps to tackle them but Steven formed his bubble to protect him and Lars.

The force Yellow put into her tackle pushed the bubble hard enough to bresk through the wall. Steven and Lars descend to the darkness of Homeworld while they're still in the bubble. Yellow stands at the edge, looking down at them.

(Yellow Diamond) You think you can get away, Rose? You stood your ground on that little spec of a planet, but you're in our world now.

End of Chapter 5

3/5/2021

As promised, I stated there was cut content of this Chapter. I'll explain the reason for it being cut before I show you what I had wrote. I didn't delete the part, I just copied it and paste it on the very end.

Reason for being cut: In the previous chapter, Steven was taken to Homeworld by Aquamarine. But Batman was supposed to go with them, whether he sneaked on the ship or taken hostage (both seem out of character so that's partially the reason for this being cut). Regardless to how Batman makes it to Homeworld, the part with Lars was supposed to be Batman and the entire thing plays out different.

This wasn't just me being unoriginal, I started writing this the same day I published Chapter 4. The biggest reason for this being cut was Batman's behavior in the courtroom. At first, he remains silent and doesn't speak even when someone's talking to him, unless it was Steven.

That wasn't why it was cut. There was a part where Batman loses his temper and punches Yellow Diamond in the face. He gets restrained by amethyst guards and Yellow threatens him. Batman losing his temper seemed out of character to me.

Unless this was his early years as the Dark Knight, which it's not, so it's out of character. And instead of Lars getting injured, it was Steven and he gets hit in the back by Blue's knife. To sum it up, reasons for this being cut is out of character, nerfing character(s), and plot armor.

Here's the cut courtroom scene:

(Green Zircon) My Diamond, Rose Quartz committed a crime so unprecedented that one can’t help but wonder, why? Exhibit A:

Four amethyst guards entered the room carrying someone.

(Steven) Batman!

(Yellow Diamond) Batman? What the stars is a Bat-Man?

(Blue Diamond) I think it's that thing.

They dropped Batman on the ground, he sits up but doesn't stand up.

(Green Zircon) Fear not, my Diamonds. This monster is not really a monster, it's another one of those primitive dimwitted creatures called humans. It's wearing a costume.

She snapped her fingers and one of the amethysts pulled his mask off to reveal his face. They dropped the mask and he doesn't do anything but let it happen.

(Zircon Green) Hmm... I assumed this one would resist that. You would not believe how many amethysts we used to remove his equipment from his waist. But don't let this human distract you from the fact that humans are loud creatures that served no purpose.

(Blue Diamond) I didn't think they'd look like monsters.

(Green Zircon) Oh, this isn't the average human. It's one of those defects. Heh, it's society probably shunned it for looking like that, not that I would blame them.

(Yellow Diamond) You mean it's an off color to it's kind?

(Green Zircon) Precisely, my Diamond.

Yellow stood up from her chair to inspect Batman. Bruce doesn't do anything but try to remain calm as his blood is slowly boiling with rage.

(Yellow Diamond) This is what Rose fought for? For pathetic creatures that dress up as rodents? It's caretakers probably disowned it.

Bruce couldn't take that. He quickly stood up, grabbed Yellow's shoulder, and punched her in the face with full force. Yellow spun around before falling.

Unfortunately, that punch was the only thing Batman could do before the amethysts stopped him. They got him on the floor and held him there.

(Steven) Bruce!

Yellow stood up and rubbed her face. Blue inspects it.

(Blue Diamond) You have a bruise.

(Yellow Pearl) A human did that?

(Blue Pearl) Impossible.

Yellow walks over to the Dark Knight and gave him a swift kick to the face. He groans in pain as she kicked very hard.

(Steven) Please, don't hurt him!

Yellow squats down to get a closer look at the human's face. She grips his hair to force him to look at her face. He groans in discomfort.

(Yellow Diamond) You're lucky that you're an example of just how stupid your kind is, otherwise I'd slaughter you right here.

She lets go and went back to her chair.

(Yellow Diamond) Proceed with the trial.

That's all I had before I cut it.
