Story inspired and written by me.

Hello! Whether you're here because I invited you, found this in your reccomend feed, or you're a fan of Steven Universe and/or Batman, welcome! Please don't discard this story immediately.

This is one of those stories where I take a leap of faith since I don't see a lot of Batman and Steven Universe stories. The last Batman/Steven Universe story I made was about Batman's story, but this is about Steven's story. This is also an AU (alternative universe) for both Batman and Steven.

So, I'll tell you the changes and what has happened so far in both stories.

Steven Universe:

• Steven is 14.
• The Cluster is bubbled by Steven and won't emerge and destroy the Earth.
• Peridot is a Crystal Gem.
• Lapis is a Crystal Gem.
• Jasper is defeated.
• Bismuth was unbubbled but re-bubbled by Steven.
• Greg is rich (received $10,000,000.00 by his former manager, Marty).
• Uncle Andy has met Steven and the Gems.

AU changes:

• Steven and Connie are just friends (no romance between them).
• The Diamonds are shruken down to a normal height (like 6 ft or more).
• The Diamonds' powers can affect humans as well (except Yellow Diamond's).

Batman Arkham City:

• Years after the Night Before Christmas Eve (Arkham Origins).
• 15 months after the night Joker took over Arkham Asylum.
• After Arkham City closing.

AU changes:

• Assault on Arkham is not canon to this (I don't like that movie).
• Hugo Strange never had Bruce Wayne arrested.
• Arkham City and Protocol 10 are authorized by the government.
• Protocol 10 was initiated and Batman couldn't stop it.
• Most (or all) of Batman's enemies are dead.
• Hugo Strange doesn't know Batman's identity.
• Gotham doesn't need Batman anymore after Arkham City closed

So, that's what's different about the stories. How does Batman meet Steven? Well, first, I needed to give Batman a reason to leave Gotham, he wouldn't willingly leave Gotham unless he had to in order to protect it or if he knows it would be safe.

For those who haven't seen/played Arkhan City, there's a place in Gotham where there's walls that takes up a chunk of the city. Inside that place are perpetrators and all criminal element locked away from society. The whole point of the place was to capture all of those who disregard the law, from small time criminal to super villian, and kill them all.

Of course Batman wouldn't allow it since it was unlawful and unauthorized. But in this story, it was. Batman also got poisoned by the Joker and the illness was temporarily cured for him all the way to Arkham Knight. But since Batman wasn't put in Arkham City, he didn't got poisoned and he lives.

And since Gotham City has the criminal element wiped clean and any remaining law breaker has fled Gotham or retired from crime, Batman isn't needed anymore. This sounds familiar to the plot of Steven Universe Future, but Bruce won't be like Steven. Bruce would enjoy the time of a peaceful city until he gets something in the mail.

So, here's the start of the story:

3rd Person P.O.V.

Beach City

Ever since Steven's dad got rich, Steven asked Greg to get cable on the TV and he gladly got cable. Steven was channel surfing until he stumbled upon a channel that got his attention. It was a channel called "Gotham Gazette."

At first, he assumed it was a news channel in a place called Gotham, but something in the report got his attention.

The Batman.

He was curious about who and what the Batman is. He then recorded any Gotham Gazette about the Batman on his VCR. He read the events of what happened in Gotham City with Batman's presence.

He thought his life was exciting, but after watching and learning what Batman does in Gotham, he almost wishes he was the Batman. He got Connie and Greg to watch it with him. Connie is studying the Batman because she's intrigued by him just as much as Steven is, but she also wants to know his identity.

Greg thinks he's a great guy, and scary looking, too. Steven wished he could meet him. Today, Steven, Connie and Greg are watching Gotham Gazette.

(Steven) I'm so exicted of what happened in Gotham today!

[TV] I'm Vicki Vale and this is Gotham Gazette. Last night, Arkham City has announced that the prisoners are all dead.

(Steven) What?!

(Greg) Oh, my gosh.

(Connie) Oh, no.

(Steven) All of those people, gone. That's... I thought Batman would stop it. That's so inhumane of what that place was doing.

[TV] Professor Hugo Strange has also announced that Arkham City is closing down due to it fulfilling it's purpose. While it was shocking for the citizens to hear, everyone has been sleeping peacefully ever since then due to no criminal activity no longer plaguing Gotham.

(Steven) W-wait a second! What about Batman?!

[TV] Following up, the masked vigilante, Batman, hasn't been seen ever since Arkham City was operating. It appears that with the criminal element going to Arkham City, his activity isn't neccessary. I believe it is safe to assume his services are no longer required. Next is--

Steven turned the TV off.

(Steven) Poor Batman. It must be hard for him to not be needed anymore.

(Greg) Well, I think it might be easy for him.

(Steven) Why do you say that?

(Greg) Well, he spends a lot of nights protecting people from all the bad guys. It must be tiring for him to do that. And with all the pain he's endured, like bruises, bullet wounds, cuts, it must not be easy for him. He might actually be happy that he no longer has to get hurt doing what's right.

(Steven) I know... But I wished I was prepared for the end of his career. I also wished I knew who he was before he leaves.

(Connie) Like the old saying: All good things must come to an end. I wished I knew who he was, too. But maybe it's not the end of Batman yet. Maybe he'll return one day.

She heard a car honking.

(Connie) That's my mom. See you later, Steven.

(Steven) Bye, Connie.

She leaves. The gems warped back.

(Amethyst) Yo, what are you guys watching?

(Steven) We were watching the end of Batman.

(Amethyst) Uh... what show is that?

(Steven) It's called Gotham Gazette. We were watching it because of Batman.

(Amethyst) Batman? Isn't that Count Dracula?

(Steven) No. Batman is a human who wears a bat costume. He protects his home from bad guys.

(Pearl) Steven, you do know this Batman isn't real, right?

(Steven) What?!

(Pearl) Everything on the television isn't real, Steven. It's just made for entertainment.

(Greg) Actually Pearl, Batman is real. The show is about the things that happen in Gotham City.

(Pearl) Well, this Batman sounds like a work of fiction.

(Steven) But he's not. He fights bad guys and protects innocent people. He's a lot like us.

(Amethyst) Uh, we're nothing like Batman, if he's real.

(Steven) Yes, we are. He fights evil to protect his home, just like we fight Homeworld to protect Earth. He doesn't kill people, just like we wouldn't shatter gems.

(Amethyst) Except Rose shattered Pink Diamond.

(Pearl) Amethyst!

(Amethyst) What? It's the truth.

(Steven) Mom had to do it. Plus, Batman has killed before. Only once, but he brought that guy back to life.

(Pearl) But human resurrection isn't possible.

(Steven) Well, he technically didn't kill him. This guy, Bane, was trying to kill him and Batman had to kill him or he die, so what he did was he stopped his heart temporarily and restarted it again.

(Amethyst) Then he didn't kill him.

(Steven) But still, Batman would take a life if he has no other choice. Just like Mom.

(Pearl) Steven, the Batman does have similarities towards us, but trust me, he's not real. He's probably a human doing this to gain attention of the public and everything that is happening in that city is staged for entertainment.

(Steven) But Pearl, he is real!

(Garnet) Steven.

(Steven) What?

(Garnet) Come with me. I want to talk to you in private.

They went outside.

At the lighthouse

Garnet and Steven are outside in tbe broad daylight.

(Steven) What is it, Ganret?

(Garnet) Can you explain Batman to me?

(Steven) Sure, but why?

(Garnet) He sounds interesting.

(Steven) Do you believe he's real?

(Garnet) It depends on how you explain him to me.

(Steven) Okay... (inhales then exhales) He's a human who wears a bat costume and fights bad guys and protects Gotham City. On Gotham Gazette, he was first spotted right around Christmas Eve. And ever since there, he's shown up to protect Gotham from danger. And he's strong, smart, and a great fighter. If you see him fight, it almost looks unbelievable he's human. He's got gadgets that are very cool looking. He's also the world's greatest detective!

(Garnet) Can you tell me why you said you were watching the end of Batman?

(Steven) This place called Arkham City locked up all the bad guys Batman fought and... and... killed them all.

(Garnet) Oh my.

(Steven) I-I understand they were bad, but it doesn't feel right. And with them gone, Batman isn't needed anymore. I feel bad because his job was taken from him. I also wished I got to meet him before he goes.

(Garnet) Hmm...

She adjusts her visor.

(Garnet) You seem to believe in him, Steven.

(Steven) I do. It's not that I wanted Gotham to always be in danger, I just liked watching Batman do things. And... I kinda wished he was with us. He could really help us with against Homeworld.

(Garnet) I believe he could help us, too.

(Steven) You think he's real?! How come Pearl and Amethyst think he's fake?

(Garnet) They're not very open minded about humans, Steven. All gems view humans as animals.

(Steven) But you don't?

(Garnet) I used to. But after meeting Rose Quartz, humans were introduced to us, and they seemed to be intelligent in some cases. And with my future vison, I believe he's real.

(Steven) What do you mean?

(Garnet) I see a few possibilities that occur of us meeting the Batman.

(Steven) (gasp) WE DO?!

(Garnet) Yes. But you must send him a letter to him.

(Steven) But how? I don't know who he is.

(Garnet) Wait until tomorrow, and you will know.

(Steven) Okay, I will.

(Garnet) But while we wait, you can tell me stories about him.

(Steven) I will! Gosh, this sounds so unreal. Like I'm dreaming!

(Garnet) But you're not.

(Steven) Can I ask you something?

(Garnet) Sure.

(Steven) Why are you interested in the Batman? I mean, I like him because he's awesome, but you seem to be interested in him, too. Why?

(Garnet) Well, part of it is because you like him. But, he could be an experience with us. Like Stevonnie. I think he's a good guy, too.

(Steven) Will he be a part of the team?

(Garnet) It all depends on what you write on the letter and what you say to him when he gets here.

(Steven) Okay, I will try to be as nice as possible.

(Garnet) Okay, so tell me when he was first sighted.

(Steven) Well, he wasn't really sighted yet. They only got little pictures of him. But one night, it was Christmas Eve and a break in started at this prison called Blackgate. The guy behind it was Black Mask, a crime boss. Batman stopped him but he got away. He fought this giant crocodile named Killer Croc. But he quickly learns after that there's 8 assassins trying to collect a bounty for Batman's head. $50,000,000.00! That's five times the amount of money my Dad got.

(Garnet) That sure is a lot of money to kill a single man.

(Steven) It was. Killer Croc was one of the assassins. The other seven are Deadshot, Deathstroke, Shiva, Copperhead, Electrocutioner, Firefly, and Bane. But very soon after battling Killer Croc, Batman defeats Deathstroke and left him for the Police to arrest him. Then, he learns that it wasn't Black Mask who hired the assassin, it was the Joker.

(Garnet) The Joker?

(Steven) He was this very evil clown that did a lot of sadistic things for entertainment. Batman defeats Copperhead next, and Joker kills Electrocutioner.

(Garnet) Yikes.

(Steven) And Batman fought Bane on top of Gotham Royal Hotel. None of them won, Bane got away and the Joker was arrested. Later Batman stops Firefly from blowing up the bridge but not too long after that, another riot starts at Blackgate, caused by the Joker. He stops the riot and defeated Bane. Then, he defeated Shiva and Deadshot later on. And he did all of that in one night!

(Garnet) One night? That seems a little streched.

(Steven) I know, but it's true. Gotham Gazette got some footage of him fighting Bane on the hotel. I recorded it on the VCR.

(Garnet) Let's go watch it.

(Steven) Yeah!

Later.

(Garnet) Wow, Batman was lucky to be alive after that.

(Steven) I was worried Bane would've killed him.

(Garnet) You said Batman killed Bane once, right?

(Steven) Kind of. He only stopped his heart for a little bit before bringing him back. I don't know what happened next but Bane got huge! Bigger than Jasper, or the Ruby fusion.

(Garnet) Do you have any other footage of Batman fighting?

(Steven) Not much. But we can watch the reports about him though.

(Garnet) Let's do it.

(Steven) Yeah, we can binge watch all the Batman episodes!

(Garnet) We won't be able to watch all the episodes today.

(Steven) Ah, c'mon, Garnet. If Batman can do all of the stuff I mentioned in one night, we can watch all the episodes.

(Garnet) Yes, but it would be well past your bedtime before we finish.

(Steven) No, I'll be fine, I promise.

37 episodes later

Steven was asleep, his head resting on Garnet's thigh while she's sitting on the couch, still watching the episodes.

Garnet's P.O.V.

Steven is asleep, I told him he would be asleep before this is over but he insisted he would still be awake, he was wrong. I would've just carried him to bed and turned off the TV but I was intrigued on watching more about the Batman. I do believe he is real, the television proves it with photographic evidence and footage of Batman in action, it doesn't look staged.

I detect a possibility where Batman is fighting with us, but I also detect a possibility where he doesn't come here. Steven is upset that he's gone and he would probably give anything to meet him. I won't deny an opportunity to make Steven happy.

Besides, Batman does seem like a good ally to have. Pearl probably won't like it, but I know she would do just as much as I can to make Steven happy. Amethyst might like Batman, as well, she would consider him to be awesome.

Personally, I like him and I think he's a little awesome, too. He sounds like a good man with a great heart. Let's hope things go to plan tomorrow.

Tomorrow

3rd Person P.O.V.

Steven's phone rang.

[Phone] Steven!

(Steven) Connie, what's up?

[Phone] I believe I have identified the Batman!

(Steven) You have?! Wait, don't tell me. Tell everyone and come over here.

[Phone] I will. Be there soon!

Later

Steven had gathered Pearl, Garnet, Amethyst, and Greg. Connie came over with stuff to bring in the house. She has a bulletin board with pictures on it and sticky notes to have little notes written on it.

(Connie) Okay, so ever since Steven has shown me the Batman, I wanted to know who he is. I've done a lot of research for this, so I should be close to correct. I had at least three candidates for the Batman but the list grew shorter. My first candidate was Harvey Dent since he was considered to be the White Knight of Gotham and Batman is the Dark Knight. But he then became Two Face so that ruled him out. My next candidate was Lex Luthor because he's rich and has a lot of equipment. But he doesn't live in Gotham so it wasn't him either. My final and positive candidate is Bruce Wayne.

(Steven) Bruce Wayne?

(Connie) Yeah. There's so many ways to connect the two that are too much of a coincidence. The first thing is that he's rich. Bruce Wayne is a billionaire and the stuff Batman has cannot be cheap. The suit, the gadgets, the aircraft he flies with and his own custom car! The second evidence I have is that I got two pictures. One is Bruce Wayne and the other is Batman. I noticed their body shape is similar and they both have the same chin and jawline. I also noticed they have blue eyes, the exact same blue color. And finally, when Bruce Wayne returned to Gotham, Batman showed up.

(Steven) Wait, what do you mean returned?

(Connie) Bruce Wayne left Gotham when he was 14 and was gone for 11 years. When he returned, Batman showed up not too long after.

(Steven) Why did he leave?

(Connie) I think the reason why he left was because he was training to become Batman. And the reason why he became Batman was because of the death of his parents.

(Steven) His parents are dead?!

(Connie) Yeah. They were killed in a mugging when Bruce was eight. It was really sad.

(Steven) Oh, my gosh... He grew up without parents, that's terrible.

(Connie) I know. It must've lit a fire in him. Because he did all of that training to get revenge on crime that took his parents away.

(Greg) Jeez, that's so horrible. A little boy losing both parents, I can't even imagine that...

(Connie) Me neither.

(Pearl) So this Batman is real? And he has a name?

(Connie) Yes. I'm positive that it's Wayne.

Steven gets up and grabs a piece of paper.

(Connie) What are you doing?

(Steven) I'm writing a letter to him.

(Pearl) Uh, Steven. I don't think he would receive your letter.

(Steven) He should. I want to at least meet him.

(Garnet) Let Steven try, Pearl. Nothing bad can happen from writing a note.

(Pearl) Okay. Fine.

(Garnet) And Steven.

(Steven) Yes?

(Garnet) Be sure to write your words very carefully.

(Steven) I will.

He began to write. After 30 minutes, he went straight outside. He found Jamie.

(Jamie) Oh, Steven, hello. I was reliever a package.

(Steven) Can you deliver a letter to the post office?

(Jamie) Sure. As long as you have a name and city the office can trace to.

(Steven) I do.

He gave Jamie the letter.

(Jamie) Bruce Wayne? I never heard of him before.

(Steven) I do. I just want to talk to him.

(Jamie) Well, I hope he responds to your letter.

(Steven) Me, too.
