5- cheerleader

Due to being grounded for missing my curfew, I was forced to spend the day with my grandparents shopping for things only the elderly use. Turns out if you spend enough time with your grandparents you start to learn things that you wished you never had the chance to learn.

For example: When my Grandma and Grandpa were younger, my Grandpa asked Grandma on a date and she turned him down several times. One time, Grandpa asked her out while they were standing on a bridge and once again, Grandma said no. So instead of Grandpa walking away like usual, he decided to climb over the bridge and pretend to jump off until Grandma finally caved and said yes to a date.

After hearing many stories of their adventures together -one included the story of them conceiving my dad- I felt that I had learned way too much about my grandparents than any grandchild should ever know. When I arrived home later that evening, my parents asked how my time was and I told them that I definitely served my time. After I told them what I had been told they laughed and said that I was still grounded for the rest of the week.

All too quickly, Monday rolled back around. People were still talking about the party Clara threw, honestly the party wasn't that fun. Well it would of been a whole lot more fun if Jay had left me alone. Thst is one weird dude. I don't mind having a short conversation with someone new, but one that lasts all night? No thank you. I was social to the extent of getting to know someone but after that, I usually shut down.

At the moment, Lacey and I were standing by our lockers waiting to go to third period. And shockingly once again my best friend was gushing about that Logan fella she met at the party. You know the one who I blame for me missing me my curfew and having to spend the day strolling down memory lane with my grandparents.

When Lacey Lodge meets a guy and has a relatively long conversation with him, she will normally come to the conclusion that she and said guy are meant to be. Now to be completely fair, she has said this about the past three guys she has met. Those relationships were very short. Lacey was one of those people who think there is a soul mate for every single person out there. When it comes to me, she will give me tough love but when it comes to a guy she is the slightest bit interested in, she is Raj from The Big Bang Theory meaning she thinks they are the one for her. Nine times out of ten, Lacey is very wrong.

"I just wish we had more time to talk." Lacey sighs and leans her head against her locker.

"You talked for five hours!" I exclaim throwing my hands up in the air.

"Those five hours were amazing." She sighs dreamily.

I can't help but roll my eyes at her.

"Lacey, you talked to a guy, a random guy at a party. He isn't going to be Mr.Lacey Lodge." I say.

"You don't get it, Tay. He was special." She says with determination in her voice.

Every guy she meets is special.

"I'm so bummed, I didn't even get his number because somebody was rushing me." She groans.

"You were with him for five hours, did it not occur to you to get his number?" I question raising a brow.

Lacey's cheeks flood with embarrassment which is a telltale sign that those two didn't do as much "talking" as she originally said.

"You've got to be kidding me." I exhale. "Welp, there is nothing you can do now." I shrug.

Lacey is quiet for minute and that tells me she is thinking of a way to either see this guy again or to get his number. Either one she chooses I know for sure she will drag me in.
Pretty soon Lacey's green eyes light up and I can practically see the light bulb above her head light up. Here we go...

"I have an idea." She smiles devilishly. "I saw you hanging with that guy Nick who apparently knows Logan." She pauses, Oh no. "You could talk to Nick and ask him to give you Logan's number." She's kidding right? Please tell me she's kidding.

"Lacey, I wasn't talking to Nick. His other friend, who is rather annoying, was talking to me." I explain. Actually most of mine and Jay's conversation was one sided.

"So. You and Nick were in the same room and he didn't kill you. Maybe you can talk to him for me." She hints.

I shake my head, "Nope, nope, nope. That is a suicide mission."

"Oh, no it isn't." She waves off and I give her a stern look. "Okay, maybe it is. But if anyone can get Logan's number from Nick, its you." Lacey says.

I laugh nervously, "Lacey, you are asking me to find Nick Ross, the school's most mysterious, baddest boy, and ask him for a random guys number. Do you not hear how dangerous that sounds!"

"It isn't dangerous." Lacey waves a hand.

She is going to get me killed.

"Taylor, if you do this one thing for me, then I will buy you Taco Bell after school today." Lacey bribes. And she even went for my weakness, she's good. My love for Taco Bell is very serious. But I have a loophole.

"We can't go to Taco Bell after school, I am grounded, remember?" I remind her.

"So you are a little bit late getting home. Just tell your parents that cheer practice ran late." She says.

Lacey really knows how to drag someone in on any idea she ever comes up with. She will pull every string and or blackmail you until you finally give in. She doesn't care. Naturally, the only way to get her off you back is to give in. And I was found myself falling over the edge once again. The things we do for best friends or in my case Taco Bell.

I let out an exhale, "Fine. I will cautiously ask Nick for Logan's number. But if I die, I will come back to haunt you."

Lacey lets out a squeal and jumps up and down in excitement. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She cheers and hugs me.

"Yeah, okay. Let me go now." I say awkwardly.

"Let me know when you get his number." She says.

"Wait. You want me to find him now?" I ask.

"Yes. The sooner the better. I have the need for flirting." She giggles. Oh gosh.

"I have no idea where he is. The guy basically hides." I groan.

"This isn't Hogwarts, Tay. You can so find him." Lacey encourages.

"I will do my best." I sigh.

"Awesome. See ya later." Lacey smiles then walks in the direction to her class while I am left glaring at her.

Here goes nothing.

I was failing. I had been roaming the halls for fifteen minutes and nothing. Looking for someone should be easy, but looking for Nick Ross was near impossible. The only reason I found him last week was pure luck. I was unsure if he was one to skip class. I have never had any classes with him so I didn't know if he was a ditcher.

I tried to think like a bad boy but any spot I thought he could possibly be were empty. I don't think he smoked, so the boys bathroom on the third floor was out. Nick didn't seem like the type to hook up with a girl in school which meant the janitor and supply closets were out. It was really hard finding someone when you had absolutely no clue as to who they were. I thought about going to all the classrooms and asking if Nick Ross was in there. But I nixed that idea because I was walking through the school without a hall pass and I was sure to be written up for detention.

I was very close to giving up my search. Maybe this could be the thing that finally gets Lacey down from her cloud of love. Oh who am.I kidding, nothing and no one will ever bring her down from that.

I was rounding a corner when someone shot out of the boys bathroom scaring the shit out of me. Scaring me so bad that I actually squeaked. Yeah...I put my hand over my heart to try and calm its pace. Once I got myself under control I looked up to see who scared the living daylights out of me and wouldn't you know...it was the person I had been looking for.

Nick Ross.

He stood there in front of me with his hands in his pockets and a scowl on his face. I was starting to think that face was the only one he knew how to make. I was so shocked that I gulped, loudly. And he narrowed his eyes at me. Shit, I'm dead.

I closed my eyes real tight, waiting for whatever he planned to do to me. But nothing happened. I slowly opened one eye at a time and I saw him walk past me. What the fuck? Being an idiot I decided to follow him. I told Lacey I would try my best at getting Logan's number and I hadn't even tried yet. I was not giving up just yet.

"Hey!" I said loud enough for him to hear me but not loud enough for any teachers to hear.

Nick didn't even take a pause, he kept on walking.

So I called out again and pretty much followed him to where ever he was going.

I decided to try a different approach, "Yo, dude!" I cringed. But it got him to stop dead in his tracks. I took my chance to catch up to him.

Nick turned around and he did not look the least bit happy. He was probably thinking why was I trying talking to him. I took in his outfit, which consisted of a plain black t-shirt and dark wash jeans. His light brown hair looked the way it did at the party. I then looked at my outfit, an olive green t-shirt dress with dark brown boots. He was so wondering why I wanted to talk to him.

"Sorry to disturb you, but I need a favor." I said quietly even though we were the only two in the hall. Nick grunted in return, I took that as to continue. "I need your friend Logan's number." I say and Nick's face contorts to shock and confusion.

He thinks I want his number for me, doesn't he?

"Oh no, it isn't for me." I laugh. "Um...my friend Lacey wants the number. Apparently she forgot to ask for it at the party." I play with my infinity bracelet nervously.

Nick stares at me then his eyes gaze down to my wrist where my bracelet is then he looks back at me. Eventually he huffs and takes his phone out and scrolls through his contacts then puts the phone in my vision. I see the contact name is "jackass" I guess that is Logan. I put the number in my phone and give him a nod to get his phone out of my face.

"Cool, thanks." I smile.

"You know, you just helped me out a lot. Lacey told me if I got Logan's number she would take me to Taco Bell after school. I mean it is definitely a risk going there because I am grounded for missing my curfew. But ya know Taco Bell is so worth bending the rules my parents set for me. The worst they can do is add on to my sentence. Have you ever had Taco Bell? It is so good, its my fave. I get the Chicken Quesadilla and put mild sauce on it. Every now and then I will add an order of Nachos and Cheese. If you've got a weak stomach I don't recommend eating there. It can put you on the toilet so fast. It doesn't-"

"Do you ever shut up?" He growls.

Oh God, I was rambling wasn't I? I tend to do that in uncomfortable situations.

I put my hand over my mouth and I feel a blush come to my cheeks. "I am so sorry."

"Yeah, whatever, cheerleader." He scoffs.

I think I am offended.

"Hey! I have a name, it's Taylor." I huff.

"Like I said the other night, I don't care." He says. "I didn't think you were the type to skip class."

"You are skipping too." I point out sounding like a little kid.

He pulls out a piece of paper from his pocket and holds it up, "I have a pass from my teacher." He smirks.

"Well, I don't have one of those." I frown.

"The cheerleader is roaming the halls without a pass, shocking. What will the people think." He chuckles.

I roll my eyes, "Yeah, real shocker." I hate it when people assume they know everything about me.

"Oohh, she's got an attitude as well." He continues. Wow this guy is a dick.

I'm about to reply when we hear footsteps echoing down the hall. I was too focused on the footsteps coming towards us that I didn't even notice Nick leaving. Wow he really is Batman.

The footsteps I heard was the priniciple and I got detention.
