33-walk for emily

All week I had been busy helping Mr and Mrs.Foster get ready for the charity walk this Saturday. Lacey and I handed out flyers, took donations and hung up signs so that the walkers would know the trail. We also spent Friday night stuffing gift bags for the walkers. It worked out great because thanks to Heather we got the entire cheer team to help out.

It was now Saturday the day of the walk. I was in my room getting ready when my mom walked in with her charity shirt on and leggings.

"Hey sweetheart." She greets with a smile and sits down on my bed.

"Hey. I'm almost ready." I tell her setting my make-up with my spray.

"Why are you putting make-up on?" Mom asks curiously.

I shrug a shoulder, fixing my hair that was up in a bun. "People will be taking pictures. I don't want to look bad." What I didn't say was I wanted to look good for Nick who was attending the walk as well.

"Sure. Anyways we will be living soon." Mom tells me then leaves but not before giving me one last look that tells me she knows I'm lying.

Oops.

No too long later we are right in the middle of town about to the walk. Lacey is by my side and I am looking around for Nick, who hasn't shown up yet.

"Chill. He will be here." Lacey scolds me. Yes she knows about Nick and I. Well as much as there is to know. Nick and I have yet to define our relationship. We've gone on dates but we haven't kissed and I keep wondering why he hasn't done it yet. I was doing my very best to stay as patient as I could be but I was getting frustrated.

After a few short speeches the charity walk started. Nick did eventually show up. Apparently finding a parking spot was difficult considering most of the town was here.

Throughout the whole walk Nick stayed with me as did his friends. It was nice to see them all here with us supporting this very special cause. Even Micah was here and she was friendly.

Once the walk ended pictures were taken and gift bags were given out. The whole thing went off successfully. All of our hard work was paid off.

"How are you doing?" Nick asks as he hands me a bottle of Gatorade and sits down beside me on the curb.

"Pretty good actually. Seeing all of these people show up and donate, its amazing. It's crazy what people will do for others." I smile. "Thank you again for doing this with me."

"I'm glad I could be a part of this." Nick says as he pulls me into a hug.

We both sit there watching everyone interact. Some are taking pictures others are going through their gifts bags and some are just talking and having a good time.

"There is a sleepover at Charlie's house tonight. Will you come?" Nick asks.

"Yes." I say. I see my parents and brothers standing on the other side of the road and I know what I need to do. I stand up, "Come on." I say to Nick and hold out my hand for him to take.

Nick raises a brow but grabs my hand and pulls himself up. "What are we doing?"

I don't say anything, I just take him over to my family.

"Mom. This is Nick. Nick these are my parents. That is Xander and Carter you have met as well as my dad." I introduce.

"It's nice to officially meet you Nick. Are you two a thing?" Mom asks.

"Um...almost. There is one thing I have to do first." Nick says with a hint of a smile.

"So this is the guy my sister has fallen for. He's good looking. Too good looking. Sorry dude, we've already got that position taken." Xander says with confidence.

I roll my eyes at him. "Ignore him. Mom there is a sleep over happening at Charlie Barron's house tonight. Can I go?"

"Sure. Don't do anything stupid." Mom says.

We talk with my family for a bit longer before Nicks family joins us. Pretty soon everyone has met everyone. Nick and I eventually leave. Since I came to the charity walk with my parents, Nick drove me to my house to get some clothes for this sleepover tonight.

I was currently in my closet packing and Nick was sitting on my bed.

"So what happens at these sleepovers?" I ask Nick.

"Not much. Movies, tons of junk food and swimming." He replies.

"Swimming? It's the end of January." I point out.

"Charlie has an indoor heated pool. So pack a swim suit." He explains.

Once I am packed and changed we are ready to go.

"Is this Emily?" Nick asks picking up a picture frame off of my shelf.

"Yeah." I say.

"She's pretty." Nick adds.

"She was. I think she would have liked you." I say as I lay my head on his shoulder.

"What makes you say that?" He asks.

"You're dreamy. But she would have told me that you were meant for me and for her to only stare at." I explain.

"I'm dreamy?" Nick laughs.

"Emily's words not mine." I correct.

Nick gasps and puts his hand over his heart, "You don't think I'm dreamy!"

I laugh, "Does it build your ego up saying you're dreamy or tear it down?"

"Hmm...I think my ego would get built up." He jokes and pulls me into a hug after setting the picture back in its designated spot.

Nick and I leave my house and head over to Charlie's house. On the way there Nick gives more details on this sleep over. He has told Charlie that we were not allowed to watch any movie that Scott Eastwood starred in. Nick said he has a enough competition at school and he didn't need another guy coming in and scooping me away. Even if he was a lot older than me and living in Hollywood. I couldn't help but laugh at his insecurity.

Ever since Nick and I started hanging out in the halls at school everyone knew there was something going on. Let me say; there were mixed emotions but the one person who I thought for sure would express his opinion was Johnny but he didn't. Sure there was one glare but nothing more. The trouble was the girls. Yep they knew that Mr.Mysterious was taken and they didn't like it. Apparently they all had a secret crush on him but never did anything about it and got pissed when Nick was no longer available. We both found it uncomfortable but we just ignored them.

Oh and Nick finally gave his secret of how I had never seen him in the halls before. No our school doesn't have any secret passages. I know I was bummed to. It turns out that Nick just used a different less crowded hallway to get to and from his classes. One day he convinced me to skip class so he could show me exactly what he meant by it. Yes, we both got caught and written up for detention. I will say it was worth it, at least this time around I wasn't in there by myself. But when I told my parents about it I left out Nicks name, I didn't need to give them a reason to hate my almost boyfriend.

Once everyone arrived it was time to get this sleep over started and I was pumped up for what was to come. I was ready to let the night flow.
