18-besties

I woke up Sunday morning to a high pitched sound that turned out to my phone ringing. Lacey had called me five times and on the sixth call I finally answered. She invited me over for a Sunday Funday, who knows what we will get into.

I got myself out of my oh so cozy bed and got dressed in some leggins and t-shirt. On my way out my mom informed me that she and my dad would be out of the house for most part of the day. Where as Carter was spending the day with his friend.

Before I left I asked Lacey if there was anything I could bring for our Funday, she replied with Starbucks. One pit stop to the nearest Starbucks later I was now parked in front of my bestie's house. Lacey's house was a two story house with the picket fence and swing set to match. A swing set we played on almost every single day in second grade. I also broke my ankle on that swing set.

I got out of my car with my phone, keys and the Starbucks in my hands and walked to the front door. After I knocked, Ms.Lodge answered the door and told me Lacey was in her room and to go on up.

Arriving to her door, I open it to see Lacey sitting on her bed working on a project for her art class. "Hey, hey, hey!" I greet happily.

Lacey looks up from her project and throws me a smile. Lacey is in lazy clothes as well and her blonde hair is up in a pony tail. "Hey. Just let me put this away." She informs me.

I take a seat at her desk, "You don't have to stop on my account."

"It's not because of you. I have temporarily lost my inspiration." She sighs.

I turn my gaze back to the photos sitting on Lacey's desk. There is one of her family before her parents got divorced. One is of her older sister and younger brother and Lacey at the beach last year. Lacey also has a picture of me and her at a cheer competition last year. My mom took it and had the photo framed for both of us to have a copy. The last photo is one I try not to look at anytime I am here, but that isn't the case today.

I pick up the white 8 by 10 frame to get a closer look. Three girls around the age of nine or ten, smiling and holding popsicles. The girl on the left has bright blonde hair and shiny green eyes. The girl on the right has dark brown hair and brown eyes. The little girl in the middle is the one who we were celebrating. It was her birthday party and we had only been friends for a few short days but she insisted we come to her birthday party. Lacey and I graciously accepted. After that us three became inseparable. Even in our middle school years, we were a tight knit group. All to quickly high school came and everything changed in the blink of an eye and not in a good way. Something happened and it separated us in the worst way possible.

I set the picture frame back down before Lacey noticed me looking at it. I then glanced down at my right wrist where the silver change with the infinity charm rest. I feel an ache hit my heart. I should not have looked at the picture.

"Tay, you okay?" Lacey asks with concern.

I try to put on a smile, "Yeah." I clear my throat, "What did you have in mind for us today?" I ask.

Lacey smiles at me and points to her very messy closet. Oh she invited me over to clean. This is not my idea of a Sunday Funday.

An hour later all of Lacey's clothes are now scattered all over her bedroom floor. I wasn't the cleanest person but I did try to keep my room in order enough for me to know where everything was. My mom did have a big part in that though, she always told me to keep my room clean and since she worked hard I tried to do just that.

Lacey's mom was completely different. The times I have spent with Ms.Lodge were very short, she claimed to be like the mom in Mean Girls -a cool mom. Yeah...she liked to party. Her partying, in fact, is what sent her husband running to the divorce lawyer and filing for a divorce. Lacey's parents have joint custody so Lacey does see her dad often but lives with her mom. From what Lacey had told me, her mom has tried and failed multiple times to get her dad back. Mr.Lodge is very happy to be free of that ole witch, Lacey's words not mine.

Of course the divorce hit Lacey pretty hard and she spent countless nights at my house just so she didn't have to see her mom. For the longest time Lacey blamed her mom but she eventually forgave her mostly for her little brother and dad. To this day, Lacey will still have a little spell where she wants her family back together and I am always there for her with a carton of Cookies and Cream ice cream and a very large spoon.

"When you suggested we have a Funday, I thought you were talking about a spa day or a shopping spree. Not rearranging your entire closet." I tell Lacey as I hang up another sweater.

"And I thought you only wore your glasses at home." She argues back.

I shrug a shoulder, "I didn't feel like putting in my contacts today." Sure my contacts were something I chose to where over my glasses but there were days where I preferred my glassed. Today was one of those days.

"Fine. Now do you think I should toss this shirt or not?" Lacey asks holding up a shirt she has owned since the seventh grade. I roll my eyes and say toss.

Two dreadful hours later we finally got Lacey's closet and room back together. We would have been done sooner but I convinced her to get rid of several pairs of shoes. My bestie was a fashion hoarder and not in a good way.

I also convinced her that we needed to get out of the house and enjoy what was left of our Sunday Funday. She agreed and we wound up at the movie theater debating on which movie to see. Lacey and I chose movies the easy way, if there was a hot guy starring in it, we were in. Funny, that's how I chose my relationship with Johnny.

"Alright so we agree to see the new Thor movie?" Lacey asks.

I was still on the fence about it. Sure Thor now looked gorgeous and Mark Ruffalo was dreamy but I wasn't sure if that was enough to convince me. I never have been a fan of the Thor movies, I've only seen him in The Avengers. Even then I was drooling over Chris Evans.

"What movie are we seeing ladies?" I hear someone say behind us. Lacey and I turn around to see Logan and Nick standing there.

Well shit.

"Uhh...we are thinking of seeing the new Thor movie." Lacey replies sounding confused.

"Nick and I are seeing that. We can sit together." Logan smirks.

After we get our tickets and go through the consession stands we make our way to the designated theater. Logan preferred we sit at the main top since the viewing is much better from up there. Somehow I ended up sitting next to Lacey on my right side and Nick on my left.

I was munching on my popcorn when Nick grabbed my attention.

"You wear glasses?" He asks with amusement.

I stop mid chew, I completely forgot I was wearing them and Nick has never seen me in my glasses. "Yeah, most of the time I wear my contacts. My eye sight is terrible."

"Hmm." He hums.

"What?" I furrow brows.

Nick shrugs his shoulders, "Glasses look good on you."

I know his words weren't suppose to mean anything special but since we've been spending so much time together and after the few dances we shared at last nights Fall Formal I've been taking his words to mean something more. And I wasn't sure I was ready for it.

I mumble a thanks and go back to munching on my popcorn. After the trailers for the upcoming movies, our movie Thor Ragnarok finally begins. If it weren't for Mark Ruffalo being a star my attention would have been else where. I couldn't even tell you if the movie was good or bad.

Lacey and Logan seemed to enjoy the movie, Nick, on the other hand, was full on interested. When a really intense scene was on he would sit straight up in his seat and start munching on his popcorn. Like someone does when there is a lot of drama going on in fromt of them. I found his actions funny and cute. But I kept my laughter to myself, I didn't want Nick knowing I was looking at him instead of the movie.

Two hours later the movie finally ended and I was thrilled. On the way out my brother Carter decided to call me. Carter had been hanging out with his friend all day and needed to be picked up.

"Everything good?" Lacey asks me when I come back to the group.

"Yeah but I need to go pick up Carter." I say.

"Your car is at my house, I can drop you off there then you can pick him up." Lacey suggests.

"Sure." I nod.

"You have to leave? I was hoping to get a bite to eat with you." Logan pouts at Lacey who rolls her eyes. She is done with this dude.

"I can take cheerleader to pick up hee brother then take them to her car." Nick shockingly offers.

"Awesome! Thanks man. Shall we?" Logan asks holding his arm out for Lacey to take. Lacey sighs but agrees and heads off to the parking lot with Logan.

So now it is just Nick and I. This feels a lot like deja vu.

"It's nice of you to offer but you didn't need to." I tell Nick.

"It's not a problem. Besides this way I get to meet your brother. Another piece of the cheerleader puzzle." He smirks.

"Okay then, lets go. Carter is at the paintball range." I inform as we walk out of the movie theater.

Nick and I talked about our likes and dislikes on the way to the paintball range to pick up Carter. Turns out Nick likes cotton candy but dislikes clowns. He told me a story about how for Charlie's fifth birthday was circus themed so to go with it they hired a clown. Nick was standing in line for cake when the clown came up to him and stole his piece of cake. Instead of the clown laughing as if it were a joke, the clown ran off with Nick's cake. Ever since then he has disliked them. Moral of the story: Don't get between Nick Ross and his cake.

We arrived at the paintball range roughly thirty minutes later, this place is located in the middle of nowhere to give the effect of it being a battle ground. Nothing but trees, a few fake forts and places for you to dunk behind to shield yourself from a paintball ambush. I'd been here once before, Carter had his eleventh birthday here.

"This place is freaking awesome." Nick says as he takes a look around.

"You've never been here before?" I ask with curiosity.

"No. You?" He asks.

"Carter had a birthday party here once. It is actually pretty fun. The first few hits sting but after a while you get used to it." I tell him.

"I'll have to come here then. You can tag a long as well. It will be another game I beat your ass in." He teases.

I roll my eyes at him, "Haha."

"Do you see your brother?" Nick asks.

I look around once more and spot at boy with dark blonde hair with brown eyes and is about five foot six. That boy is my brother Carter.

"Yep. I'll go get him." I tell Nick before exiting the, Bat-mobile.

A couple of minutes later I return with my brother. Carter and I get into the jeep.

"Um...Taylor, who is this?" Carter asks me.

"Nick this is my little brother Carter. Carter this is Nick he goes to school with me." I introduce.

"Nice to meet you, man." Carter greets.

"Back at ya. But we have already met once. At the mall a couple of weeks ago, remember?" Nick points out.

"Right. You're the guy whose party Taylor went to and got grounded for drinking." Carter remembers.

"Yes Carter, this is the same person." I say in frustration. Carter loves to embarrass me.

On the way back to Lacey's, we talk about video games and by we, I mean Nick and Carter talk about videos games. We also made a pit stop at Waffle Cones because Carter said he was going through withdrawals and hadn't had his weekly fix yet.

While at Waffle Cones the girl who Xander hooked up with when he was in for Homecoming asked where his was. I'm guessing the girl wanted another night with Xander. When I told her he was back at college she started freaking that he was probably having multiple one night stands, I couldn't tell her she was wrong because it was more than likely true. Xander enjoys a one night stand and has them often.
Carter also mentioned how he was ready to ask Penny -his crush- out on a date and needed advice not from me but from Nick. Carter said since I was a girl my opinion wasn't needed. Nick being the semi nice guy he convinced Carter to take my opinion in to account. So I guess sometime this week my little brother will be asking out his first crush. I may cry.

All in all, I think my Sunday Funday turned out to be pretty cool.

A/N: Heyyy!!! This is more a filller chapter. It does give you a little more insight into Taylor and Lacey's friendship.

I was thinking of changing the title of this book Batman & Cheerleader. I feel it would fit the book much better.

Things are about to happen and a secret may be exposed soon. Stay tuned.

Thank you all for reading!!!
