Hidden Agenda

A businessman ran through the halls in a hurry. "Hold the doors!" He called out to the people in the vertical train. They did, and he managed to slip inside just before the doors closed. The man bent over in exhaustion, "Thanks, I thought I was gonna miss my train...." He trailed off when he looked up.

Standing around him was Jokerz. The businessman gasped in fear. "Hey Terminal, the guy says we're in his train." Trey, a jokerz dressed in orange said. He shoved the businessman into the train's door.

The leader of this particular gang walked forward. He wore a straightjacket looking costume, a long black hair wig, along with black and white zombie face paint. "You really should label the things you own. I do," Terminal smiled as he gestured for Trey to hand him a spray can. The jokerz all laughed as Terminal sprayed red paint on the poor businessman's suit.

They harassed the man even further by throwing him in all different directions around the train. "I-I don't think you should be doing this." the man stumbled. The female joker stuck out her tongue and slapped a flower sticker on the shaking man.

"Please stop. Please, I beg you," the business man pleaded desperately. Terminal looked down on the man, "What do you say, crew? Since he asked so nicely." He pulled out a cartoon boxing glove gun and shot it at the emergency stop button, which halted the train from further movement.

The businessman, who had curled into himself, looked around hesitantly. Terminal crouched down to the man's level, "You're not laughing. He's not laughing." Maybe we should share a few smiles just to encourage him.

Terminal snapped his fingers as a signal for Trey to open a canister that released numerous vicious razor-sharp gag teeth. "Well, crew, we've brightened the life of just one more bored citizen. Our work here is done," Terminal stated, watching joyfully as the businessman cower from the teeth.

The jokerz got to work and pried opened the train's doors. Once it was wide open, the female jokerz fired a grappling hook that latched to a building across from them. "Keep smiling," Terminal told the businessman before jumping out the train.

Once he made it safely to the ground, Terminal pulled out a dagger and cut the line, leaving no escape for the businessman.

Meanwhile, back inside the train, the businessman was struggling to maintain distance between him and the sharp chattering teeth. He dove over to the open door but stayed stuck there. He gulped as he looked down at the view. Just as a pair of teeth were about to bite him, a batarang flew in and crushed it to pieces.

Batman and Nightwing appeared on the train and destroyed many sets of teeth. Hearing the man's scream, Nightwing turned around just in time to see him disappear from view. "Slag it," she cursed and dove out of the train.

She caught the man and flew him to a nearby building. Batman joined them shortly after. "Jokerz," Batman growled as they helped the weary man.

The jokerz, who had watched the event that had just transpired, started to walk away. "So, Terminal. Where to next?" Trey asked.

"Later. I'm crashing." Was Terminals' response.

Instead of just accepting the answer, Trey sassed back, "What's the matter, fearless leader? Need your beauty sleep?"

Bad idea.

Terminal stopped walking, turned abruptly, and got in Trey's face. He smiled menacingly, and Trey, thinking it was all some big joke, smiled back. It was not some joke. Grabbing the front of Trey's shirt, Terminal dangled over the edge of the building. "Don't make fun of me," Terminal warned. Trey hurriedly apologizes, but Terminal still dropped him.

It was by sheer luck that there were a few metal bars for Trey to grab before he fell to his demise. The other Jokerz are taken aback by the cold-blooded display from their leader as they watch Terminal walk away.

At Hamilton Hill High School, Terry and Eliana walked down the hallway with Dana and Max. Max had become a good friend to the duo recently. They met the pink haired girl in some mutual classes. She was very intelligent and had a sharp tongue. They approached a screen displaying the standardized GAT scores. "Uh oh, the GAT scores are in," Max informed.

Terry frowned, already knowing what he got. "I don't even want to know what I got," Dana shuddered.

Eliana patted her friends back, "Come on, Dana, I'm sure you did okay."

Dana smiled before turning to Max, "Hey, Max, what's your ID?"

"The last prime number before my birth year," she answered. They all stared at her blankly. Max entered her ID into the computer, and her score popped up.

Gibson, Maxine: 2400

Their mouths opened in astonishment. "Twenty-four hundred! You got a perfect score!" Terry exclaimed.

"Yeah, well, it's just a number. It doesn't mean anything. Believe me, Terry, you're just as smart as I am," Max shrugged off the praise.

"Think so, huh? Let's see what he got," Dana said, pulling up Terry's score. Terry braced himself.

Mcginnis, Terry: Incomplete

"Incomplete? How do you get an incomplete score on the GATs?" Dana asked incredulously. Terry rubbed the back of his neck, "Some emergency. I had to leave before I finished the test," he excused nonchalantly.

Eliana tried to smother her chuckle, but her boyfriend must've heard as he sent her an annoyed look.

"Some emergency" was actually a mad bomber loose in the city. Man, did Terry let Bruce have it that day.

"Sometimes I get the feeling you arrange for these emergencies," Max teased, but suspicion filled her eyes. Changing the subject, Eliana typed in her ID to view her score. Thankfully, she managed to finish the test right before she was pulled away.

Grayson, Eliana: 2387

"Wow, Eliana, that's fantastic!" Dana said happily, bumping the girls shoulder.

"Congrats, babe," Terry whispered as he kissed Eliana's head.

Just behind them was Carter Wilson, the class president, with his other friends. They, too, were checking Carter's score.

Wilson, Carter: 2391

"Near perfect score, Carter. Way to go!" Mark complemented.

"Yeah, well, class president has to set an example," Carter boasted.

Cecily hooked arms with Carter, "With scores like that, you're a shoo-in for valedictorian," she proclaimed.

Carter and her began to walk off when Mark interrupted, "Yeah, a shoo-in. So what if you didn't get top score?" Carter froze mid step and hurried back to the screen. "What?" He demanded. His eyes widened when he saw Maxs' name on top of his.

He saw the girl in question in the distance and ran over to her. "Hey, Max, congrats on the top score." Carter said, giving Max a fake smile.

"No big whoop. It's just a test," Max responded, much to Carter's anger.

"Oh, Max, stop being so modest," Eliana butted in.

In her opinion, it was okay at times to act proud rather than humble. In this scenario, it was appropriate.

"Yeah, judging by your GATs, I'd say you could give Carter here a run for valedictorian if you wanted," Terry added. Carter gave Max a challenging smirk, which morphed into a glare as he watched the group leave.

Terry, Eliana, and Dana followed Max into one of the school's labs when the girl wanted to show them the special project she was working on. Terry and Eliana's interest really peaked when Max grabbed a sheet of paper from the printer, on it was a diagram of Batman. "What's that?" Eliana asked casually.

"The results of a compiler program I've written," Max answered. "About Batman?" Terry asked cautiously.

"Yeah, I needed a hobby, and it beats macrame. I hacked my ID so that I can stay after hours to work on it," Max answered, gesturing to her ID necklace badge. "The program searches the grid for specific information about Batman." She explained.

Dana looked over the sheet, "He's between 5'6" and 6 feet, between 16 and 36," she read. Eliana glanced at Terry. She was beyond shock. The information Max obtained was scarily accurate.

"How can he be that young if he's been around for so long?" Dana asked. "I figure the guy that's been around lately is a brand-new bat." Max replied instantly.

"A lot of people would fit this description," Eliana voiced, trying to discourage Max from digging further.

"Maybe, but every day, another bit of data helps narrow it down. Eventually, I'll have the guy pegged," Max said.

Terry cleared his throat in discomfort, "If it is a guy," He teased, hoping to put off Max.

"He is a guy, and he's connected to our school. I'm sure of it," Max assured. Her confidence filled Terry and Eliana with worry.

Having already identified such keen details, Max's program was on the verge of uncovering the dangerous secret identity that is Gotham's hero. "He's like a teacher?" Dana suggested.

"A teacher or a phys-ed coach or even a student," Max said, giving them a sly look. Terry stiffened and avoided eye contact.

"And just what will you do if you crack his identity?" Eliana questioned, trying to keep any harshness out of her voice. Now wasn't that the million dollar question. She needed to figure out Max's priorities on the topic. If she had intentions of leaking Terry's identity, Eliana would have to intervene, and so would Bruce. Nobody should ever want to be on Bruce's radar.

"When you mean. And if you're thinking I'd turn it into gossip, I won't." Was Max's answer.

Terry almost slumped in relief. Almost.

The truth of the matter was, Terry and Eliana wouldn't be able to believe the girl....at least not yet.

Carter was sitting on his bed, fiddling with his hands. He didn't dare meet his mother's critical stare. She always expected nothing but the best, anything less was...disgraceful. All the pressure he faced when it came to getting the best grades and status at school (valedictorian) all stemmed from his mother. It just seemed he was constantly disappointing her.

As soon as he walked through the door, she demanded to see his GAT score. Just by looking at her unsatisfied face, Carter could tell he was going to receive a lecture. Like every other time, he's disappointed her.

"How could you have done so poorly on the GATs?" His mother asked.

"I got an almost perfect score," Carter defended feebly, knowing it was pointless.

Mrs. Carter lifted her son's chin, ""Almost" doesn't get you ahead in life, dear. "Almost" gets you almost." She stated cynically.

"Only one student got higher."

"Well, that would make you the winning loser, wouldn't it? And if that's good enough for you then I can see why my opinion doesn't mean much to you either," His mother criticized, throwing his score sheet back to him before striding out of his room.

When the door closed, Carter let his mask down. He ripped his score sheet in two, got up, and walked over to his mirror. He sat down and turned to his vidphone,"Vidphone, speed dial six."

The person on the other end answered immediately, "Yo." Trey's image appeared.

Carter opened up his makeup kit and started applying some paint to his face. "I have a little business to take care of tonight. After hours at Hill High."

"Don't worry, we'll be there...Terminal."

The jokerz ran through the halls of Hamilton Hill, causing mischief. They threw smiley face balloons filled with red paint at the walls and lockers. Terminal himself used a pipe to destroy the GAT score results computer. "So much for the GAT scores," Terminal smiled, jumping off the shoulder of his members who had boosted him up.

"Can we go home now? I haven't been in school since sixth grade. It creeps me out," Trey complained. Terminal wasn't quite finished yet. There was one major task he had yet to complete. "Just one more bit of electro-vandalism," Terminal told him.

Opening the door to the staff room, Terminal trekked over to a computer and pulled up Max Gibson's profile. "Little miss perfect score. Let's see what else-valedictorian?" He sneered as the list with the highest grades in the school popped up.

99.50%- Max Gibson
99.49%- Carter Wilson

"Oh, I don't think so," Terminal grinded his teeth and swiftly went to change the percentages. He glared in anger as he was denied access.

"It blipped you," Trey chuckled.

"There's more than one way to interface," Terminal replied.

With an animalistic cry, Terminal kicked the computer screen. He took pleasure in seeing Max Gibsons' face and shattered.

The next morning, Eliana, Terry, Dana, and Max viewed their vandalised school with disgust. Janitors and maintenance crew were hard at work fixing all the damages the jokerz had done. "I hear they jolted all the vidscreens," Dana commented as they walked to their lockers.

"Jokerz. Stupid, random destruction," Max grumbled.

Eliana disagreed. This attack on the school was personal. It wasn't in character for the jokerz to wreck a random high school. No, they craved more exciting settings. "Not so random. Look at the damage. They were picking their targets," Eliana pointed out.

"You're saying they're students here?" Max questioned, shocked. "At least one of them's gotta be," Terry responded, opening his locker. Max paused, "Maybe I could rewrite my Batman search program to look for the students most likely to be Jokerz," she proposed.

Eliana and Terry craned their necks simultaneously, "So you'd stop looking for Batman?" Terry asked for calcification. "Are you sure you want to do that?" Dana prodded. Suddenly, as soon as Max opened her locker, a pie shot out from it.

Thankfully, Max ducked just in time to dodge the projectile. The group froze, Eliana even curled his fist in clenched anger when they saw a brick slide out from the pie cream. "I am now," Max replied seriously.

Figuring their school would be targeted once more, Eliana and Terry set out that night to Hamilton Hill. All suited up and in the batplane, the duo appeared just in time to see the jokerz about to enter the school. "May I see your passes, please, kids?" Batman called out.

The Jokerz halted and looked up to the batplane. "Look who's playing hall monitor!" The female joker stated.

Opening the plane's hatch, the heroes popped their bodies out. "Care to explain what you're doing here?" Nightwing interrogated. "Actually, no," Trey sneered. Throwing some smiley balloons, the jokerz use the distraction to flee on their motorcycles.

The chase lasted a good minute before Nightwing pushed a button to shoot out a grapple line that tripped the Jokerz. Jumping out from the batplane, the duo fought the now grounded jokerz.

Nightwing finished off her last joker when she turned to see her partner holding Trey by his collar. It was then she noticed the same peculiar object Batman did. Around Trey's neck was Max's ID badge.

"What are you doing with this?" Nightwing asked sternly, inspecting the badge.

"I use it to scrape bugs off my windshield. Guess it isn't working, your both still here," Trey taunted.

"You've been breaking into school lockers. Why?" Batman raised Trey and pulled back a fist to appear more intimidating. It worked, Trey spilled, "Just her locker. To send a message. She's a threat," he explained hastily.

"Because she can track down the faces behind the greasepaint?" Nightwing inquired, thinking about Max's intentions on her program. Someone was targeting Max, and their hatred ran deep if it was enough to want the girl dead.

"Don't know nothing about that. I-I just do what I'm told," Trey shook his head desperately. "Tell your boss to back off. I'll get Max off his tail. You think you can relay that message for me?" Batman dropped the cowering joker.

"Yeah, but you might have to give us a tow back to the school. That's where we left him."

"I hacked my ID so that I can stay after hours."

Oh no.

Max had said earlier in the day that she was planning to stay late at the school to change her program. Rushing back into the batplane, the vigilantes flew as fast as they could back to the high school. Right in the nick of time, too, they managed to crash through the ceiling and save Max when the school's cleaning bots shot deadly acid at her.

But they didn't stick around. Changing out from their costumes, the teens ran back to check on Max. "Max! We came to help you with the program. Are you alright? Uh, the hallway's a mess of goo!" Eliana feigned innocence.

Max ran over to them, "Yeah, I must have accidently tripped some kind of jokerz trap." "It was no accident. This trap wasn't meant for just anyone. The Jokerz are after you," Eliana explained gravely. She gestured to the burn marks along the floor in front of them and the wall behind them.

"What? Why?" Max quirked an eyebrow. Terry placed his hands on her shoulder and turned her to face him. "Your search program, Max. You've gotta shut it down. For your own safety." Max averted her gaze, unsure. "Please, just trust me on this one, okay?" Terry implored.

Max closed her eyes and sighed, "Okay," she agreed softly. Eliana rubbed the girls back in support.

She understood how tough it was to quit when you're so close to finding the answers you desperately craved. "We're gonna make sure there's no one else in the building." Eliana trailed Terry as they started searching around.

Max watched them run off, then walked back into the lab and over to her computer. "Drag program "Max Jokerz 1" to trash and empty."

"Transferring program. Transferring completed datafile."

Max froze. "No, wait. Cancel delete command. Recover data!" She rushed out. "Do you wish a printout of students whose records match your parameters." The computer asked.

Max crossed her arms in expectation, "You bet I do!" But when she read over the results, only one name stood out, and it shocked her to her core. "My God! I don't believe it!"

TERRY, MCGINNIS

"Terry! A Joker?"Max couldn't believe it.

~8~

The next morning, Terry and Eliana looked for Max. "Hey, Max!" Terry called out, seeing their friend in the distance. Max looked up from the paper she was studying and placed it with the rest of her books.

With her heightened skills, Eliana saw how Max became stiff. Her friend's expression was guarded, but a flash of what Eliana could observe as anger? Come to think of it, Max acted very distant when they regrouped last night. Did something else happen Max wasn't telling them?

"Are you okay? You hardly said a word last night?" Eliana asked worriedly. "I was looking over my shoulder. I had the weirdest feeling there was a joker nearby." That was strange, Eliana or Terry would've noticed. But Eliana watched as Max eyed Terry when she answered. "They won't bother you anymore. I promise," Terry assured. "I guess you'd know," Max turned her head.

"What?" Both Terry and Eliana questioned. "Terry, our class is soon, you coming or not?" Dana popped out of nowhere. "Uh, hang on," he told her. He looked back at Max, who still didn't meet his gaze, "We'll talk later, okay Max?" "I suppose I owe you that much," Max stated tersely.

'What on Earth is her deal?' Eliana thought bitterly. She did not appreciate the way Max was treating her boyfriend, especially since he didn't do anything. Terry couldn't get another word in as Dana dragged him away.

"What's going on with you? What did you mean before, about Terry?" Eliana asked, anger slipping through. Max gave her a pitiful look and pulled her into a hug, Eliana hugged back hesitantly.

"I care about you, Eliana, and you deserve to know the truth about the man you're dating, which is why I'm telling you this. Be careful around Terry, he's not who he seems," Max said lowly. She released her hold and walked away.

Eliana felt her heart drop. The ominous warning could only mean one thing.

Max knew Terry was Batman.

~8~

As soon as her class ended, Eliana sped out to find Terry. She spotted him with Jared, and just like Dana dragged him away. "Where are you taking me?" Terry asked, trying to keep up with his fast-paced girlfriend. "We need to talk. Away from prying eyes." Was her answer. Eliana rushed into a storage closet and closed the door.

"A storage closet, really? Like in the movies," Terry smirked. Eliana huffed, "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't bring you to a tropical paradise. Listen, Terry, we need to discuss Max." She said, now fully grabbing his attention. "Yeah, what happened with her back there? She was rather cold to me."

Eliana nodded and bit her lip nervously. "Yeah, I think I know the reason." Terry gestured to her to continue. "We talked briefly after you were gone. She told me to be careful around you, that you weren't all you seemed. Terry...I think she pieced together your Batman."

Terry's breathing hitched. "But-but she said she was gonna rewrite her Batman program. Design it to target the Jokerz." Eliana sighed heavily and rested her hands on her hips. "She must've just created another program and kept the Batman one running in the background. You know Max, she's not one to give up easily."

Terry started to pace in the small space they were occupying. "Argh, this is bad. You know she'll probably search for Nightwing next." He paused and eyed her reaction. Eliana gave him a grim smile. "Guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it, huh?"

Terry closed his eyes tiredly and leaned his forehead against his girlfriends. "What are we going to do?" He whispered barely audibly. Eliana gently caressed his dark locks. "If worse comes to worse, Max will know our identities. I think she's trustworthy. Although Bruce won't be thrilled when I break the news."

She slowly pushed his chin up to meet her eyes. "Hey, it's not the end of the world. Everything will work out, you'll see."

Terry took in her optimism, but he still had his doubts. This topic was becoming too much to bear. He needed a distraction. A mischievous idea came to mind. The idea must've transferred to his face because Eliana gave him a strange look.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her lips to his. "You know what else they do in the movies, alone in the closet?" Terry playfully hinted and wagged his eyebrows suggestively. "I think I do." Eliana mumbled and quickly brought their lips back together.

The passionate moment became more intense when Terry pressed Eliana against the door.

Angling her neck, Eliana gave her boyfriend access to move his kisses there. Their breaths increased with speed and volume. Eliana's hands roamed all over Terry's body. She forced down the impulse to pry his shirt off.

RIIIIINNNGGGG!!!

They stood rigid.

Crap, they were late to class.

~8~

That evening, Terry slumped his way into his room and, once inside, collapsed onto his bed. He was very exhausted. His day had been rather eventful. Unfortunately, he could not retain the peaceful atmosphere as his little brother entered his room.

"You never find me going to sleep at 8 o'clock unless I have to." Matt teased his big brother. "You would if you worked for Mr. Wayne." Terry mumbled into his covers.

"Twip." Matt insulted. Terry could hear his little brother's footsteps move farther away, and he prayed Matt was leaving. Much to Terry's disappointment, Matt started talking again.

"Ooh, someone's got an email! It's probably a love note from Eliana. Mwah, Mwah, Mwah." Matt faked kissing sounds. His attention was grabbed, and Terry reached for his laptop before Matt could read the message.

"Scram, snip!" Terry warned. Matt picked up his fallen toy and ran from the room. Terry closed the door and then clicked on the message. Terry immediately saw it wasn't from Eliana, but from Max.

Meet me at the fountain in Gotham Park to discuss your "secret life" ~ Max

Terry's eyes widened in panic, "Oh no." He grabbed his phone and dialed his girlfriend's number. "Max messaged me. She wants to discuss my identity. Meet me at the Gotham Park fountain in costume."

~8~

Max strolled over to the Gotham Park fountain, clutching her result evidence paper tightly. She heard a throat clear and turned, thinking it was Terry. Instead, she saw Terminal and his group staring at her.

"I should've known you'd appear this way," Max addressed Terminal tensely.

"Looky, looky. It's Ms. Perfect 2400. The luckiest girl on the face of the planet...until now." Terminal pulled out a blaster and shot at Max.

"That's right, Maxine, I know who you are," Terminal said, circling the girl menacingly.

Max glared and stood proud, "I know who you are, too, Terry!" Her confidence faulted as Terminal laughed, "Mcginnis? She thinks I'm Mcginnis!" The other Jokerz laughed mockingly with him.

"I know he's one of you! He told you I'd be here!" Max rebutted. "No one told us anything!" Terminal made Max back up until she was forced to sit on the fountain's ledge. "We've been following you. To finish off what we started." Terminal informed.

Max raised her result papers, "Because of this?" She assumed. Terminal slapped the papers out from her hands, "Wrong Again! I don't care about your data-crunching. I have a more personal reason for wanting you gone."

Max ran and grabbed up her papers, "Who are you?" She inquired, fear finally settling in. Terminal smiled and raised his gun, "Me? I'm the best!" He fired a shot that hit Max's research papers, turning them to ashes. "Help! Somebody help!" Max yelled loudly. "Who do you think's gonna hear you, Maxine? Who do you think's gonna come to help you?" Terminal forcefully took hold of Max's forearm.

Terminal received his answer when Batman and Nightwing showed up and kicked him back. The Jokerz surrounded them and were ready to attack. "Run!' Batman instructed. Max had other ideas. "You called it!" She responded, running and tackling a joker.

"Not what we meant," Nightwing grumbled but was impressed by the girl's brave actions.

She ducked under the fist of a joker and swiped their legs. Batman caught the swinging mace a joker held and swung the man into the fountain. When Terminal began firing at them, the heroes ran and jumped onto the surrounding walls. From their position, Nightwing threw a bola at the female joker's feet, making the joker topple over.

Hearing Max's shout, the duo jumped down from the wall. They were stopped by a laser blast shot at their feet. Terminal held them at gunpoint. "Forget about me? You got the girl, Trey?" Terminal called out. Max struggled in Trey's grip. "Yeah, I got her."

Seeing the fountain's power switch, Max broke free from her captor's grip and flipped Trey into the off switch. The ball suspended on top of the fountain, which was being kept up by the water, fell.

Obviously, not wanting Terminal to be killed, Nightwing pushed the joker out of the way. She was met with the butt of Terminal's blaster as a thanks. But before she was shot, Max and her partner pushed Terminal. Nightwing used her feet to launch the leader into the fountain.

Terminal's wig came off, and Batman yanked the joker to the fountain's ledge. With his face paint washed off, Carter Wilson's face was revealed. "Carter? Carter Wilson?" Max said in disbelief. Carter was behind all these attacks on her life? She looked around and noticed Batman and Nightwing were gone.

Max thought for a long moment. There was only one other person who knew she would be here tonight. Terry. And only a specific girl Terry would inform. Eliana. The coincidences, the excuses. It all made sense now.

~8~

The next morning at Hamilton Hill, Terry and Eliana overlooked students as they watched Carter's arrest broadcast on the tv. They listened as Carter's "friends" talked bad about him. Their moods plummeted when Max walked over to them. This was it, Terry's secret would be out.

"I guess I'm not as good a programmer as I thought. Carter wasn't even on my list as possible, Jokerz. But you were," Max informed, shoving her result paper at Terry. Eliana and Terry were taken aback. Max thought Terry was a joker this entire time!? The feeling of hope entered the teens, so Max didn't know Terry's secret.

They followed her into a lab, "Wait, you don't think..." Terry trailed off.

"I did. But now I know the truth. About both of you." Max imitated a bat's ears and a bird's wings. And there goes that burst of hope.

"What are you going to do about it?" Terry asked apprehensively. Max sat at her computer, "First thing I'm going to do is cover my tracks so no one else can figure out...you know."
.
"It's been taken care of," Eliana said, confusing the girl.

"By whom?" Max asked curiously.

"A friend. He's a real expert in covering tracks," Eliana said, smiling thinking of Bruce. But then became somber, "This changes everything, you know." She told Max. Max shrugged, "Maybe for the better. At least now you two aren't alone with your secrets. You guys have someone to talk to. Someone who can help you out sometimes if you need it." She pointed out nonchalantly.

"Help us out? How?" Terry inquired. The answer to his questions came when Dana stormed into the room in fury. "So where were you last night, Terry? You told me you had a free evening! Did the great Mr. Wayne snap his fingers for you again? No offense to your guardian, Eliana. Or did you just forget?"

Terry was lost for words, trying to find an excuse. Lucky for him, Max came to his aid. "I'm sorry, Dana, it was my fault. I was supposed to sit with Matt, but I had to cancel. And Terry got stuck babysitting." Max lied easily. Dana softened, "Well, babysitting. I guess that's alright. Family does come first. We'll make it up some other time," she said and walked away.

"Maybe this could work after all," Eliana admitted. Having an alibi such as Max would help very much. Not to mention, it didn't hurt to confide in someone who wasn't Bruce.

"Just one thing. Either of you call me Robin, and I'm outta here," Max commented, her eyes gleaming with joy.

Terry leaned closer and patted her back. "No problem.....Alfred." He teased before he and Eliana walked off.

"Alfred?" Max mumbled. Who the heck was Alfred?
