Golem

Willie Watts found himself hanging outside the school when it was over. He took a minute to look around and appreciate the view when he noticed one of the school's most popular girls, Blade Sommers. He watched her in a dreamy state; everything about her was amazing.

With her slim hourglass figure accompanied by a beautiful face and gorgeous white hair, Blade Sommers was every boy's dream. He knew they couldn't be together; he was Wille Watts, a shy, scrawny kid known for being the school's loser/nerd. But he decided to take his chances anyway, Willie ran after the retreating girl.

"Hi Blade," Wille greeted breathlessly as they walked down some steps. "Billy something, right?" Blade asked, barely giving him a glance. "Willie, Willie Watt. I'm in your robotics class," Wille corrected. "Uh, biogenic interfacing, I'll never get it." Blade responded, shaking her head.

Taking a chance, Willie responded, "Maybe I can help, well, like tutor you or something," he stumbled. Blade faced him and gave him a humorous look, "Tutor me?" Wille was about to respond but was cut off by a red sports car screeching its way towards them.

The car stopped, and Nelson Nash got out. "Hey Blade, schway outfit, it'll go great with my car. Don't you think?" Nelson said, elbowing Wille out of the way as he went next to Blade. "It might," Blade said coyly. "Blade, about that tutoring thing," Wille called out to get her attention. "Tutoring? Does this mean you're gonna start doing homework now, too?" Nelson frowned at Blade. "I never said that," Blade shook her head.

"Good, then let's go for a ride." Nelson said, moving to his car. "Right now? Just like that?" Blade responded incredulously. "I'm a spare of the moment, guy," Nelson threw her a smirk. Blade stuck up her head in defense, "Well I like a little warning," she said, walking away. Nelson moved Wille to the side again, "Okay, how about Saturday, the dance at the pier?" Nelson offered.

Blade stopped for a moment to look over her shoulder, "I'll think about it, but I might have other commitments," she said, then continued to walk. "How about a ride home?" Nelson offered. Willie became annoyed, "She said she didn't want a ride." "She wasn't talking to you, twit." Nelson said, shoving Willie back into his car. Nelson gasped as he saw a part of Willie's sleeve rip. "Now look what you did. You almost scratched it," Nelson said as he lifted Willie by his shirt.

He was about to punch him before a voice pulled him out, "Lay off em Nash, don't you have anything better to do?" Nelson turned to see Terry Mcginnis at the top of the stairs with Eliana Grayson beside him. "You think I'm afraid of you, McGinnis?" Nelson commented, giving Terry his full attention. "I don't know, are you?" Terry challenged. After a brief pause, Nelson dropped Willie and moved to get into his car. "He's not worth it, but you are Mcginnis. Someday." Nelson sneered before racing away in his car.

Eliana rushed over to Willie and helped him to his feet, "Are you okay, Willie?" She asked worriedly. "I'm okay, thanks," he answered curtly as he began to walk away. Eliana watched him go with concern. "I'm worried about Willie," Eliana told Terry. "He'll be fine, though he should think twice before trying to ask out someone like Blade. I hate to say it, but he won't be in her league, you know Blade," Terry shrugged.

Eliana wanted to protest, but she knew Terry was right. Blade was a stereotypical popular girl who only hung out around the cool kids. She would take no interest in someone like Willie. "I do, but I'm not sure if Willie does. You know what they say 'the heart wants what the heart wants', and the heart will make people do crazy things," Eliana said, shaking her head. "Anyway, let's get going. Do you want to come over to Wayne Manor and do some homework together?" Eliana asked as they began to walk. Terry's face twisted up in displeasure, "Homework?" He thought they would do some training.

"Yeah..homework, you know that thing teachers give us so we can complete and submit. Don't over think about this new concept, Terry. I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself," Eliana teased before running off. "Oh hey! Oh no, you're not getting away that easily, Ellie!" Terry laughed as he ran after her.

After the whole Nelson fiasco, Willie made his way to the construction site his dad was supervising and told him about the event. "Move those support beams to the first story. And watch your port! Keep that Golem steady! You hear me?" Frank Watt yelled into his earpiece. The Golem was a big robot designed to help construction workers, it's user controls the Golem with the connecting headset.

"I copy Frank, I copy," his worker replied as he made the Golem lower a beam gently. "Yeah, that's good. Keep her steady," Frank commented. Then he turned to face his son, "So what are you gonna do to the guy, who did that?" When Willie didn't answer, he moved closer, "No wonder they walk all over you. I told you, Willie, if someone pushes you, push back," Frank told his son. "Yeah, like that'll work." Willie grumbled.

Suddenly Frank grabbed his son's arm and swung him in front, "You listen to me, Willie. I'm not raising no wuss. Will you keep it straight! I want you to take care of this, Willie, you hear," he told his son sternly. "How am I supposed to do that?" Willie asked his father, who turned his attention back to the site. "Hit 'em where it hurts! You figure it out," Frank responded. Willie began to think until his gaze landed on a certain robot. He smirked as an idea began to form.

Later that night, Batman and Nightwing found themselves watching a basketball game in camouflage; a new suit feature they were testing out. "This camouflage option really soars," Terry commented. "I take it no one has spotted you yet. How's the stealth cowl Eliana?" Bruce asked. Since Eliana wore a domino mask, Bruce had to install an automatic cowl like Terry's to hide her face and hair in order to go into stealth mode. Whenever she pushes her suit's stealth option, her suit will automatically form a cowl.

"Works well, though I hate cowls. Good thing it only appears for stealth mode," Eliana mumbled. Suddenly, police cars with sirens blaring passed by. Terry sighed, "Just when the game was gettin' good." Switching their stealth modes off, the duo blasted away in the direction of the police cars.

Eliana and Terry made their way to a big construction site and went into stealth mode before landing. They listened in on a conversation between a worker and an officer. "I'm tellin' ya the Golem was right there, before I took my break," the worker explained. "Golem?" the officer questioned.

"Galvanic lifter machine, GLM, Golem. It's a robot, and this jerk loses it." Aman, most likely the superviser, said as he angrily got into the workers face. "Hey! Hey! That's enough of that! If this Golem thing is as big as you say, they couldn't have taken it far," the officer reassured. That was all the duo needed, so they blasted off.

Meanwhile, Blade and Nelson were on a date outside Gothams mall. "I'm sick of the mall. How about a ride?" Nelson asked Blade. "You like that car more than me!" Blade exclaimed, turning her back to him. "Who's talkin' about cars?" Nelson flirted. Suddenly, a giant robot came stomping their way, and people started to flee. Nelson took off immediately, leaving Blade behind, running to his car. Nelson got in his car and started to drive off, but the robot lifted the backside of his car up in the air.

Due to the angle, Nelson fell out but managed to hang on to his opened car door. On a distant building, Willie Watt was controlling the robots every move. Through the control visor, Willie saw Nelson's scared face. "Hit 'em where it hurts!" Willie smirked as he commanded the robot to crush Nelson's car.

Nelson fell to the ground and watched his car get crushed. "No, no, not the car!" Nelson cried out as the robot threw his car. It was about to do more damage when two sets of batarangs stuck in the robot and exploded. Batman and Nightwing flew past the robot and landed in front of the mall's fountain.

The robot then pulled one of the malls supporting beams and smashed it in front of the duo. The duo ran in order to not get crushed, but the momentum caused them to fly into a car. The duo didn't even have a moment to recover until the robot raised the beam above its head, ready to strike. "Leave us alone!" Willie screamed in frustration.

The vigilantes ran and dodged the many strikes the robot was sending. 'We can't keep this up for much longer. There has to be something to short circuit this thing', Eliana thought as she looked around. She scanned her surroundings and noticed an elevator . 'The power cables for the elevator!' Eliana smirked. She looked over to Terry, "Batman! I have a plan. Follow my lead!" He gave her a nod for confirmation.

As the robot brought down the beam again, Nightwing, followed by Batman, ran up the beam and then the robot. The duo jumped off the robot and landed on the building's ledge. Nightwing then ran and caught the bottom of an elevator going up. The robot seemed to take an interest in her and made its way in front of her. "Gotcha now, stupid little bird," Willie exclaimed as he commanded the robot to strike the vigilante.

Fortunately for Eliana, her plan worked. When the robot went to strike her, she flipped out of the way in order for the robot to strike the power cables behind her. The electricity caused the robot to short circuit and power off, making it collapse.

Willie shouted painfully as he too was shocked, his visor short circuited, which made him take it off and throw it to the ground. When the police started coming in bulks, Willie left the scene with a major headache.

Back at the batcave, the trio were discussing past events. "The Golem's control visor was found on the roof top, fused," Bruce informed Eliana and Terry. "Any chance they found the head that went with it?" Eliana asked. "No such luck." Bruce replied. They all watch the surveillance feed of the attack, "The Golem went straight for that car," Bruce pointed out.

"Belongs to Nelson Nash, he goes to Hill High," Terry informed with amusement. "Know anyone who might have a grudge against 'em?" Bruce asked. Eliana chuckled, "Are you kidding? Everyone has a grudge against him, even Terry. "Eliana's right. The line starts with me and goes around the block....twice," Terry sighed.

The next morning, Willie and his dad ate breakfast together while listening to the news. Wille's headache had gone away, but he felt different. He just couldn't explain it. Last night's event was still playing in Willie's mind. He felt so powerful.....he wished it would've lasted.

"The Golem is now in Police impound awaiting a full investigation, just another case of technology gone bad," the news person reported.

Frank Watt slammed his fist on the table, "And while it sits there, I can't finish the building. When I get my hands on the jerk, who stole that Golem, I'm gonna make him sorry he was ever born. "Maybe he already is," Willie mumbled and left to go to school.

At Hamilton Hill High School, students were busy talking about the Gotham pier dance on Saturday. A certain boy was trying to ask out a certain girl. "Come on baby, you know I care about you. I thought you were right behind me," Nelson said to Blade. After the whole Golem attack, Blade was angry at the fact Nelson had just left her in order for him to run to his car and escape.

"I was, by about a hundred feet. Big brave Nelson, I might as well go to the dance with a twit, like Willie Watt." Blade told him before she bumped into someone. "Willie? Are you busy Saturday night?" Blade said, smiling at the boy. Willie was shocked, "You- You talkin' about the dance?" He stumbled. "Wanna go or not?" Blade asked innocently. Willie nodded his head vigorously, "Yeah!"

"Great, call me." Blade smirked at Nelson as she walked off.

"Think I'm gonna let some twit take my girl," Nelson said, slamming Willie up against the wall. Nelson was going to continue beating him until a teacher walked by. "Relax, you saved...for now." Nelson slapped his cheek before walking away. Throughout the whole ordeal, Willie felt something trigger inside him, and when she looked down at his hands, he saw electricity coming out of them.

And Willie was right, over at the police impound the Golem turned on and began to break off the chains holding it. Willie smirked as he felt the Golem leave its imprisonment. He could feel the connection.

Meanwhile, in a different hallway, Terry felt his nerves increase as he approached Eliana. Why, you might ask? Well, he was about to ask her to be his date for the dance. "Hey, uh, Ellie, can I ask you something?" Terry said, getting her attention. "Hey Terry, and sure," Eliana answered uneasily. She could tell he was nervous, 'But why is he nervous?' She wondered.

"I was wondering if you'd like to be my date to the dance this Saturday," he asked. Terry panicked as he saw a look come across Eliana's face. "You know what, forget I even said anything," Terry rushed out. Eliana's eyes widened, "Wait, Terry, yes, I'd love to go with you. I just thought you'd ask Dana," she said sheepishly.

Terry felt relieved, "Dana already has a date. Besides, I was always planning on asking you." His words made both of them blush and look away. "Well, I can't wait," Eliana said and gave him one last look before walking away. Eliana smiled as she heard him quietly cheer.

After school, Willie went into the Jokerz territory, an underground tunnel, to test the connection between him and the Golem. "I know you're there, getting closer, I can feel you," Willie called out. He sensed the Golem making its way to him. His concentration was broken when he heard laughter combined with motorcycles. Willie turned around to see a group of Jokerz surrounding him, still laughing. "Hey, school boy, where's your hallway pass? Did no one ever tell you not to come to Joker territory without some kinda tribute?" One of them sneered.

Willie smirked, "I got somethin' for ya, a joke." A joker came up to his face, "Alright then, make me laugh." "What's two stories tall and eats Jokerz?" Willie asked innocently. "What?" The joker asked angrily. Willie pointed at the Golem emerging behind them, "That!" The Jokerz didn't waste time in leaving after the Golem smashed one of their motorcycles.

Willie smiled at the Golem, "I knew you'd come. It's like you're part of me now. This is so slammin', I have you, I have Blade. From now on, everything's gonna be different."

Saturday couldn't arrive sooner, the Gotham pier was packed full of teenagers for the dance. "I'm glad Mr. Wayne gave you two the night off. This wouldn't have been as much fun without the both of you," Dana told her friends. "You would've come without us?" Terry teased. Dana smiled, "Hey, I got a life too, you know." Then she left to go find her date.

Terry directed his attention to his date, "You look beautiful, Ellie, not that you don't on a regular basis," he stumbled. He wasn't lying. Even though she was dressed up in a short navy dress, he had always found her gorgeous. Eliana giggled, "Thank you, now let's have some fun!" She declared, pulling him to the dance floor.

Meanwhile, Blade and Willie entered the dance with Willie's arm around her waist. "Willie, your hand," Blade pointed out.

"Oh, sorry," Willie said sheepishly. Blade ignored him and looked over to see a crowd of girls ridiculing her choice of date. Blade was already regretting asking Willie to be her date just to piss off Nelson. "Would you like some punch?" Willie asked, pulling her out of her thoughts. "Whatever." Blade replied, uninterested.

When Willie left, Rino came up to her. "Nice corsage, or is it jungle camouflage?" Rino laughed as he pointed at the pink flower corsage on her dress that Willie gave her. "Knock it off Rino, can't you see how miserable she is?" Nelson pushed him out of the way. Blade scoffed and turned away, "Like you care." Nelson turned her back to him, "I do, really. I can't tell you how sorry I am for acting the way I did. Give me another chance, baby, you won't be sorry."

Blade smiled but hesitated, "I would, but Willie-".She was cut off by Nelson. "I'll take care of him. He'll understand." He told her before leaving to get Willie. "Come on, Willie boy, we gotta talk," Nelson said firmly as he dragged Wille out to the pier.

"You had your fun, now get real. Blade's too hot for a twit like you. Be smart and step aside," Nelson said as he and his gang cornered Willie outside by the pier. "No!" Willie said stubbornly. "I'm trying to be generous here," Nelson sneered. Willie made a move to leave, "I don't need your generosity." But Nelson grabbed Willie by the arm. "Yes, you do," Nelson said before he pushed Willie off the edge of the pier.

Willie screamed as he fell into the water below. When he resurfaced, he heard Nelson and his friends laughing. What they didn't know was that whatever Willie saw, the Golem saw. And the Golem sensed Willie's distress and began making its way towards him. When Willie climbed back up onto the pier, he smiled wickedly as white energy radiated off of him.

After a bit of dancing, Terry and Eliana made their way to sit at a table. "This is your first dance, isn't it?" Terry remarked. He noticed how Eliana seemed new to partying. As a party guy himself, he could tell. Judging by Eliana's sheepish smile, he was right. "Is it that obvious?" She asked.

Terry smiled, "Not really, but as a club going type of guy, I could tell." Eliana laughed, "Well of course you're that type of person. You're right, this is my first big dance, date and all. I'm not much of a partier like yourself." "Well then, I'm glad I'm your first date to your first dance," Terry said.

They chatted some more until a slow song started playing. Eliana looked at the dancing couples wistfully, and she then turned to Terry. "Would you like to dance with me?" Eliana asked softly. Terry looked at her, shocked, and said, "Oh, um, I'm not that good at slow dancing."

Eliana stood up and held out her hand, "Neither am I. This is my first dance, but I've always wanted to slow dance with a date. Come on, Mcginnis, we face threats everyday, what's one dance gonna do." Terry paused for a moment but then grabbed her hand.

They started off like any couple would. She had her hands around him, and he had his hands on her waist. Eventually, they both began to melt into the dance. Eliana got lost in the moment that she leaned her head into Terry's shoulder, and in return, he leaned his head down to her shoulder. They stayed like that for a couple of minutes until Eliana pulled back, and then they just stared into each other's eyes.

It was like time stopped around them, like they were the only ones in the room dancing. Eliana didn't even remember leaning in. It was just automatic. They were about to kiss when everyone around them started whispering about something.

Eliana realized what was about to transpire and quickly moved her attention to what everyone was staring at. It was a soaking wet Willie with an angry look. Eliana didn't really pay attention since she was too busy freaking. 'Oh my God.....I-we almost kissed!' The thought alone made Eliana's heart race.

What made her shocked was that a part of her......wanted the kiss to happen. The ringing of Terry's cell phone pulled her out of her thoughts. "Yeah?" Terry answered, Eliana already knew who was on the other end.

"The Golem is heading your way, I hope you both brought your suits," Eliana heard Bruce tell Terry. With a nod, the two began to run out to the car they took. 'Well, this will at least take my mind off of what just happened,' Eliana thought happily.

Little did she know that the exact thought was running through Terry's mind as well.

Willie was beyond angry. He was tired of being pushed around, and tonight was his final straw. "What do you want twit?" Nelson asked Willie as he approached them. "Come on, Willie, I'll take you home," Dana offered, grabbing Willie's arm. He shook it off and looked coldy at Nelson. His eyes turned green like the Golems. "I don't need anyone's help anymore!" Willie yelled as his body was surrounded with green energy.

The Golem also crashed up from under the ground. People started running and jumping off the pier into the water as the Golem started attacking. "Let go!" Nelson said, shaking off Blades' hands and running. He was interrupted by one of the Golems' arms slamming the ground in front of him. Nelson was about to get smashed by the Golem when Batman pulled him out of the way. "Thanks," Nelson said as he held onto Batman. "Don't mention it," Batman said monotone before dropping Nelson in the water below.

Nightwing flew in and threw some explosives at the Golem, making it stumble back. The break was short-lived as the Golem caught the duo in its grasp. "You should have stayed out of this Batman and Nightwing," Willie growled. Suddenly, a pair of hands grabbed Willie and turned him around. "Willie! So you're doin' this. Stop it! Right now!" Frank said to his son.

The Golems' attention was now changed to Frank as it dropped the vigilantes. "Willie, what are you doing?" Frank cried out in fear as the Golem started making its way towards him. Frank ran as the Golem readied its fists in the air. "Who's the wuss now, dad?"Willie called out as the Golem followed Frank.

Frank managed to climb the wooden beams of a rollercoaster and continued running on beams further away from the Golem. Batman and Nightwing landed on a beam as Willie and the Golem approached. "How are you doing this?" Batman called out. 'He's not using the control visor, so how is he controlling the Golem?' Terry thought incredulously. "With supreme satisfaction," Willie smirked confidently.

The Golem then shot out a claw, making the duo jump up to another beam. "But he's your father!" Nightwing exclaimed in disbelief. "Not for long," Willie replied wickedly. Willie then made the Golem grab a beam to pull itself up to the same level as Batman and Nightwing. And while holding on with one hand, shot out the other one that the duo dodged. Batman then landed on the Golem and threw a tear gas pellet at its eye. Willie screamed and clutched his eyes as he felt the pain.

The Golem stumbled back into the beams, causing the beam Frank was on to break. Frank was launched into the air but managed to grab onto a beam hanging off the edge. The duo landed near the man, "Jump!" Nightwing instructed. "I can't swim!" Frank replied. "Terrific," Batman grumbled.

Meanwhile, Willie became even more enraged, so much so that the Golem accessed its flamethrower. The duo turned around to see fire coming right at them, so they quickly ran and jumped off edge. The flames caused more beams to break, and the explosion caused Frank to start falling. Fortunately, Nightwing managed to fly over and catch the man before dumping him into a booth filled with stuffed animals.

The duo then landed on a spinning rocket ride and promptly fired a grappling hook at the Golem. While the hooks got lodged in the Golem, the duo tied the ends of the ropes to the ride. The duo jumped out of the way as the Golem was pulled into the ride. The ride managed to split the Golem in half, shutting it down once and for all.

Tears streamed down Willie's face as he hugged the robot, "No! Please come back to me!" "You better go talk to him, I have a feeling you won't be seeing him for a while," Nightwing told Frank softly before she and Batman left.

Eliana was confused and angry about her emotions. She just didn't understand them. So she did what she does best, train. She wasn't tired, even after the Golem attack, along with five hours of training. The punching bag had been her victim for hours....well, bags.

She was down to her final bag now, punching the crap out of it. She just couldn't get the almost kiss out of her head, and she couldn't wrap up her emotions. Eliana began punching more vigorously, and it didn't come as a surprise when the bag snapped from its chain and poured out its contents. Eliana just stared at the bag, panting deeply.

"You wanna tell me why you're training this late, or more importantly, what's wrong?" Bruce said, snapping Eliana out of her trance. She briefly looked at him before going to sit on a bench. "Nothing's wrong, just can't sleep," Eliana replied stubbornly. Bruce sat beside her, "I know you're lying. I wanna help you, but to do that, I need to know what's bothering you." "It's just something that happened at the dance," Eliana shrugged, hoping her mentor would drop the subject.

"Something between you and Terry, I'd presume," Bruce inquired. Eliana nodded, "At the dance, we started slow dancing, and I guess we got caught up in the moment......that we almost kissed," she said the last part quietly. Bruce's eyes widened slightly at the information,

"So, how do you feel?" He questioned. Eliana ran her hands on her face and sighed, "That's the thing, I don't know how I feel. Part of me is confused about these feelings, and part of me wished that we really did kiss. It's just.... complicated."

"Do you have feelings for him?" Did she have feelings for him? "I.......do, ever since I met him, I've just felt a spark. But I don't know what to do, I'm still getting to know him," Eliana admitted. Bruce laid a hand on her shoulder, "There's only one thing to do.....tell him. Whenever you're ready and you know what you feel is 100%, you tell him. But don't wait too long, it's not good to keep something like love stored up inside. It becomes distracting."

Eliana rested her head on the old man's shoulder, "You're right, I'll tell him when I feel the time is right. Thanks, Bruce."

"And the Golem has been completely dismantled. As for the young chief, he's been sentenced to 3 years in a county juvenile facility," Willie Watt's watched the news on the tv in the juvenile facility he was in. Suddenly, he was interrupted by another inmate, "Hey, change the channel twit, I wanna watch wrestling."

Willie looked at the man and smiled, electrical energy radiated off of him, making all the inmates run away from him. Willie walked casually away after the tv exploded.

Willie smirked, he'd get his revenge....someday.
