Chapter 34

Ha

Joker's Lab

Jason had control of his body again. The first thing Jason did was he tied up the Joker and stabbed him in the right leg. He left the knife in his leg.

"Ow." The Joker said. He said it as if he would in a sentence.

"I wouldn't remove those if I were you. If you do, you'll bleed out in minutes." Jason stated.

"I know I've done it to hostages before you dimwit." The Joker said.

Jason pointed the gun to the Joker's head. "Where's Dana Tan?" Jason questioned. "Tell me or I'll blast your brains out."

"Fine I'll tell you. She's at the Funhouse. She's in a room that's out in the open." The Joker laughed. "Remember I didn't tell you because I was scared boy. I told you because I know you have some juicy stuff planed. Hahahahahaha!"

Jason stabbed the Joker in the right leg with his final knife. "You be quiet now. Or I'll figure out a way to do this without you."

"Okay, okay, party pooper. No cake for you." The Joker said. Jason quickly knocked him out.

Joker's Funhouse

Jason was at the Funhouse. He knew what took Joker was talking about. Right when he got there, he saw the room. It was a small concrete room that had no windows and only a door.

Jason kicked open the door and saw Dana all tied up. Jason grabbed her by the arm.

"Ahhhhh!" Dana screamed. She got Jason to let go of her arm. After Dana kneed Jason in the stomach.

Jason smacked Dana and grabbed her by the arm.

"Don't try that again. Or I'll kill you." Jason stated. Jason and Dana left the Funhouse.

Neo Gotham

Bruce, Terry, and Dick looked over Gotham. Bruce removed his mask. His skin was green.

Barbara called Bruce. "You did it. You saved Gotham." Barbara said. Bruce put his mask back on.

"The Joker's still out there. Have you spoken to Tim?" Bruce asked.

"Yes. He's depressed but he'll make it through." Barbara said. "I'm sorry Bruce. We couldn't find a cure for you."

"I know. I still have energy. Koff. I need to find Joker before I go out." Bruce stated. "How's Damian doing?"

"He's thinking clearly now. Thank God." Barbara stated.

Bruce suddenly heard a loud ringing noise coming from his earpiece in his helmet. Dick, Barbara, and Terry hear it too. It hurt their ears.  Suddenly someone started speaking. Their frequency that they were using got hacked.

"Hello Bruce. It's Jason, Jason Todd. The first Fallen Robin. The one you forgot about." Jason stated.

"Jason... I didn't forget about you." Bruce replied in his earpiece.

"That's debatable. But we'll debate that when you come to Crime Alley, the place where it all started. I have Dana Tan... And the Clown. Be ready to take off your mask and die Bruce. Everything the Joker did, I had a say in it too." Jason said. "I didn't want Gotham to be destroyed but I sure as hell wanted you dead. And now I'm going to get the chance to kill you. Bring your allies, they were apart of this too." Jason hung up.

"Bruce, he's going to kill you!" Barbara said.

"I'll die either way. We have to save Dana." Bruce said.

"I'm going to get that son of a bitch." Terry said angry.

"Don't let your emotions get in the way of the mission. You'll be reckless." Dick told Terry.

Bruce looked at his body charts. The suit scanned Bruce's body every ten minutes to tell him how much time he had left. He had an hour left.

A video played on screens throughout the city. It was a video of Jason. He was speaking in front of a camera.

"Hello people of Gotham! My name is Jason Todd! That name may mean nothing to you, and it should. I was the second Robin." Jason said in his video. A video of him being best by the Joker was played. "Remember this? Now many of you probably were only children when that happened but the Joker "killed" me. I'm back though and I have a show for you all. Tonight, tonight is the night where you finally find out who the Batman really is. Stay tuned in Gotham News Daily if you want to know!" The video stopped.

Crime Alley

Bruce, Terry, and Dick went to Crime Alley. The place where Bruce's parents were gunned down by Joe Chill, the Iceman.

Bruce remembered the pearls dropping from his mother's necklace. He remembered his father charging Chill but failing.

"Old memories." Jason said. Bruce stopped daydreaming.

"Jason." Bruce stated. He looked around. He was stolen news cameras behind Jason.

"You son of a bitch! Where's Dana?" Terry questioned.

Jason was standing near two trashcans. Behind the trashcans was Dana and the Joker.

"Do you remember hostage situations like these?" Jason asked. "I sure as hell do. I remember Dent keeping a boy hostage. I remember saving the boy. Now you'll have to do the same today."

Jason got out two guns and pointed them to Dana's and the Joker's head. Dana was crying and the Joker was laughing.

"This is better than I thought it would be! The kid first off reveals he's not really dead, and bam! He's a criminal when he reveals himself!" The Joker laughed. Jason hit the Joker in the face with his gun in his left hand.

"Shut up clown." Jason stated.

"Jason, why are you doing this?" Bruce asked.

"You had the chance to save me and Damian. But you didn't. You left us to die." Jason said. "That's not the only reason why I'm doing this though. You took innocent kids in, used them! You have to be punished."

"Please Jason, let me help you." Bruce stated.

"There's no helping me!" Jason yelled. He calmed down. "Okay Batman, the original Batman. You going to do everything I say. Step by step. Take off your mask."

"Batman..." Dick said to Bruce.

"Do it!" Jason said. He shook the gun at Dana's head, "Or she dies." Bruce took off his mask and looked towards the cameras. "There you have it everyone! The Batman was Bruce Wayne all along!"

This broadcasted all over Gotham.

"Damn you look sick." Jason said. "In the bad way."

"Now what?" Bruce asked.

Jason tossed Bruce a third gun. "I'm going to kill them. If you don't stop me they die. You have five seconds to decide. Five..."

Bruce pointed the gun at Jason, not wanting to. "Four... Three... Two... Decide now!" Suddenly a shock of electricity came out of a camera and shocked Jason. Jason dropped his guns.

"Your welcome Bruce." Barbara said through her earpiece from the Fortress of Solitude. "I was able to hack a camera."

Terry and Dick charged towards Jason. Jason was able to cut Terry in the chest and elbow Dick in the head. Jason then grabbed Dick by the head and threw him into Terry.

Bruce, unmasked fought Jason. They threw punches at each other. Upper, lower, and middle punches. They also were able to get some kicks in too. They were evenly matched due to Bruce's strength. Jason, by luck, got a shot at Bruce's temple. That knocked Bruce down. Jason pointed a gun at Bruce's face. Bruce coughed up blood.

Before Jason could pill they trigger. The Joker pulled a knife out of his leg and stabbed Jason in the shoulder with it.

"No I'm going to be the one who kills him." The Joker stated.

After the Joker moved Jason's body over and stuck a knife in Bruce's right Teres Major, a muscle near Bruce's under arm.

Bruce looked at how much time he had left. He had fifteen minutes. Bruce pushed the Joker off his body with his left arm. He had no control of his right arm.

Bruce punched the Joker in the face. He looked at Jason. Jason was trying to get up. Terry and Dick were able to keep him down though.

Bruce kept punching the Joker with his left arm. The cameras were still filming. Bruce got out a Batarang and pointed it towards the Joker's heart. Joker quickly grabbed a gun and shot Bruce in the abdomen, a part of his body that was partially covered.

Before Bruce didn't fall over though. He grabbed Joker by his shirt and spoke, "I am the darkness, I am the knight, I am Batman!" Right after Bruce delivered a blow to Joker that would knock him out but not kill him. After Bruce fell on the floor bleeding out.

"Nooooo!" Terry yelled. He and Dick ran over to Bruce.

The Joker has a smile on his face while he fell unconscious. Bruce was on his side. Dick and Terry managed to subdue Jason. Bruce was able to hold himself back against the Joker. The Joker didn't win.

"We- we did it." Bruce said. Tears ran down Terry and Dick's face. "We stopped him. We saved Gotham."

"We did Bruce. We did." Dick said with more and more tears running down his face.

"Pro- protect Gotham. Be- be something more than the Batman." Bruce choked. He looked at how much time he had, thirty seconds. "All of you." Bruce smiled and simply let out the words, "Ha." Before he passed.
