Your POV

Hello, my name is (Y/N) (L/N), and I am a violinist. Well, not much of one at least. I began to play the violin not long ago, and it all started when I was watching a musical competition, where I would see a violinist competing for first place. Her name was Yashio Rui, and she is such a veteran when it comes to the violin. After watching her, I decided that I would give the violin a try myself.

However, no matter how hard I tried to do it, I can never seem to do it like Rui can. Whenever I played outside, the sound of my violin would come out... all wrong.

"I don't get what I am doing wrong here." I said while looking at the violin.

Just then... someone approached me.

"Oh, I see that you play the violin as well."

I looked to where the voice was coming from. To my surprise, the one who called out to me was Rui. All I could was stare, not knowing how to respond to her.

"Wow! Rui-san! I... uhh... saw you perform at the musical competition the other day, and I thought you were... incredible." I told her.

"I am glad that you liked it." Rui said. Is it odd that I don't find her smiling?

"Yeah, and because of that, I got a violin of my own." I said and showed her.

"Ah, I take it you want to play the violin like me?" Rui asked.

"Yeah, but I think I am doing something wrong." I said, looking at the ground.

Rui paused for a moment before responding.

"Very well. I shall help you get better at the violin." She declared calmly. She's willing to help someone she just met 20 minutes ago? I don't know what brought this on, but I'd be more than happy to accept help from anyone who is giving it to me.

"Oh wow, thanks Rui-senpai!" I said and bowed.

"Senpai? But we're the same age, are we not?" Rui asked.

"I guess we are, but when it comes to the violin, it would make sense for me to call you senpai." I said.

"I see." Rui replied as she lets out a small sigh before continuing. "Very well, I will let you call me senpai."

"Thanks, Rui-senpai." I said and smiled, though I can tell by her face that she will never get used to it.

"Umm... don't mention it." She replied. "Forgive me, but I don't think I know your name yet."

"Oh, it's (Y/N) (L/N). Nice to meet you." I said and bowed.

"Nice to meet you too, (Y/N)-san."

Location - (L/N) Residence

I took Rui back to my house, as we thought it would be the best place to practice the violin. Rui asked if my parents are going to be home soon, but she was surprised when she learned that I was living alone.

But anyway, Rui began to teach me everything there is to know about the violin, then she showed how to make it sound so... perfect.

"Alright, now you give it a try." She said.

"Okay, here goes nothing..."

I played the violin the same way Rui did, only not as good...

"That didn't sound good, did it Rui-senpai?" I asked.

"Not exactly." She replied. "But you know what they say, practice makes perfect."

Hearing those words became a source of motivation for me. And so, I kept on practicing and practicing until I get this right. Rui stayed as long as she could until I got this right, even if it means losing sleep over it.

An hour later...

Thanks to many practices attempts, I was finally able to get a perfect note in. I couldn't believe I was able to do it, and I have my senpai to think of it.

"Did you hear that Rui-senpai? I was able to do it right!" I said with excitement, even though she saw the whole thing.

"Don't worry, I was watching." Rui said. "I will admit, though, you're a fast learner."

A praise from my number one idol is like a dream come true for me. But what would make this even better is that if she cracked a smile for once.

"Well, thanks for that. I wanted to make my favorite senpai proud." I said with a smile. And for once, Rui cracked a smile of her own.

"Despite being the same age, I can never say no to my favorite Kouhai." Rui said as she came over, and, to my surprise, she gave me a kiss on the lips.

I blushed and became speechless by what she did. I mean, the praise was one thing, but the kiss... that's something else.

"Consider that an award for all of your hard work." She told me.

"I guess that's fine. Do you... want me to walk you home?" I offered.

"No need to do such a thing. I can text my parents that I am staying at a friend's house, and home in the morning." She suggested and that is what she did.

Rui is going to stay here... I guess it is better than being home alone. After she texted her parents, she looked at me and asked...

"So (Y/N)-san, shall we continue with our violin practice?" Rui asked.

"Ready when you are, Rui-senpai." I replied.
